I think it’s clear that Dr Gill does these videos for medical training purposes but designs them in such a way so as to please the (majority?!) ASMR community. So considerate!
@@DrJamesGill I actually have a practical exam in a few days and I love that phrase! We have a slightly different set of movements (as most unis vary probably) but this is of cause one that is included here as well :D

Greetings from Russia! Thank you for your work, mr. Gill, not a single one of your great videos were missed, some of these are being rewatched from time to time! I wish you good luck and professional prosperity, keep it on👍
The reason I like these videos is that I like a bit of noise in the background when I'm working, but anything with too much complex reasoning or that requires you to follow along is distracting. This is like a perfect balance, and you can tell everyone is comfortable, in a completely relaxed environment.
Outstanding as usual! It is so amazing to begin to undertstand the "what-is-done-for" relationship , thanks to elements acquired from your previous videos! Thank you so much for your contents, Doctor!
I've recently undergone an examination like this, as I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis at 7 years old. It's eye opening to see just how easily Abby seemed to be able to do some of the things I struggled with.
I love these videos I get the asmr relaxation and I get to learn. I know exams when I go to the doctor before they even start. I want Dr. Gil to examine me for hours no homo. Something about him just makes me “feel” cared for in a way I can’t easily describe and is really quite powerful.
I love these examination videos! It would be cool if along with the videos of normal exams we could see some videos of abnormal exams, with you explaining what goes wrong and the consequences that can have. Like with this one maybe she could not feel the tissue or blunt object, or not being coordinated with the movements. Hope this doesn't come across as criticism I love these videos but its just a thought I had :)
@@DrJamesGill could it be done as a role play? As in a volunteer acting as if they had an issue and you're going through the steps that you would go through if the patient did experience these issues?
@@Megan-nr7xe thats what I meant but I understand it can't be done. Obviously I know there's no way we would be allowed to see real patient examinations, as Dr. Gill said that could be a breach of confidentiality and consent would be needed.
I had real neurological examinations a number of times just over week ago after being admitted to hospital for the first time in my life following a bout of campylobacter food poisoning!!! It was horrific and I had slurred speech, seizures nystagmus and parasthesia… lost my coordination too and thought I was having a stroke … lay on my driveway and called 999 with my phone next to my head on loudspeaker as I couldn’t hold my phone to my face .. I’m only 39! I’ve only just started driving again and my speech had improved (it’s still not 100% but I’m improving) My handwriting is still scruffy… but I’m alive 🥳 I was terrified I had permanent brain damage or something but it turned out that I had critically low phosphate and it caused problems with my nervous system. My nervous system is now re-learning. Sadly, because I had the worst headache of my entire life and was intermittently vomiting throughout, I didn’t get the “ASMR effect” during my neurological examinations 🤣 they made me feel even more sick and dizzy… but I did think of YOU while I was close to death Dr Gill! Had you been there in the flesh I don’t think I’d have been listening to a single word as I was feeling half dead anyway ! Hey its the same woman from the thyroid gland exam video! Nice to see her reprise her role in an official Dr. Gill sequel!! Can we expect a trilogy (or more) at some point in the future?
Dr. Gill, During the triceps tendon reflex test on Abbie's left arm, are you seeing a contraction of the triceps muscle despite the lower arm moving the wrong direction? During the triceps tendon reflex test on Abbie's left arm, are you seeing a contraction of the triceps muscle despite the lower arm moving the wrong direction? This occurred during the thyroid exam video also. I'm wondering what might be the cause of her reversed movement on the left side?
I think it’s more that the triceps contracts slightly, resulting in the arm swinging due to gravity
But like a pendulum, the arm would not swing thru w/ a greater amplitude than it's initial displacement w/o an additional force.
