They should have included the exact same T6 BR intro as the opening for T8 but make it playable when the opening ends where Jin meets Kaz at the top of the G Corp helipad. I can't believe we've waited 15 whole years to see this fight finally take place. I just hope it was worth the wait.

Comparing Tekken 7 to Tekken 6 really highlights how important patches are to the health of a fighting game. The two games share basically the same bones, but for one of them, the devs were able to make balance adjustments based on real-time data and player sentiment, and it made a huge difference in how good the game feels to play. I genuinely think Bandai Namco has the best balancing division in the industry.

He was already struggling with his inner devil in T5, Jin should have had a situation like Eddie Brock & Venom where he would be influenced by the devil gene to cause world war 3, Azazel would just be an excuse to fight and justify the chaos. Just an idea.

I was obsessed with Tekken 6 back in the day. I remember those long rainy days with the game... so much fun!!
I actually liked the Story Campaign, but yeah, not making Arena mode unlocked from the beginning was a mistake.
About Arcade, I don't remember how it was, but it should've been an infinite tower, like Treasure Mode.
    The customization was CRAZY.
And my favorite, Asuka, actually got powered up and was so, so much better to play compared to Tekken 5.
About online, man, I live in South America and had a shitty ADSL connection back in those days and I still was able to play and chat... never really had a problem. Maybe I just got lucky.
Anyway, one of my favorites. I can't measure how much time I spent in this game trying to unlock absolutely everything!!

What urks me is that Jin so far doesn't seem to have any acknowledgement about how his goal to eliminate Azazel to erase the Devil Gene had failed. Yes he did kill the demon but he STILL has his devil gene so all the chaos he made, all the lives his ruined and his descent to villainy was for nothing...and this is NEVER discussed or brought up.
Not to mention the inconsistency in his character regarding his morale and what he truely thinks on what he done.
In the Tekken 8 story intro first look we got; Kazuya rightfully tells him he started the war and Jin is all like "All to awaken a great threat for me to kill!" To try and justify what he did as if he learned NOTHING but when he looks at the fleeing people around him he laments about not being able to save everyone...says the man who started the war which costed lives so he has no right to say such things...
Like you don't start a war, regardless of your intentoins, ESPECAILLY if you are going to pretend to be a villain...only to try and be like "I can't save anyone!" pretty much gives you no room to talk.
Seriously I won't be suprised if the game ends where after Jin (supposedly) kills Kazuya; the world will just instantly forgive him and Jin would be like "I can live in peace now...".
I know it's typical Japaneses storytelling and all, redemption and forgivness and all that but Jin started WWIII, ruined lives (and even had some killed indirectly like Miguel's sister for example) and killing Kazuya won't undo any of that.

My main problem is he threw away everything for a weird crystal dragon that had no build-up, wasn't doing anything and achieved little. I don't it's unsalvageable though. It can work if the consequences of Jins world war actively follow him around and aren't immediately forgiven. That's why I think Miguel has a more plot potential than first appears, his feelings of revenge are absolutely understandable. Zafina is also the most interesting thing they've done with Azazel.

As much as T3 makes up my mental image of Tekken, I've found drawings I did on school notebook paper that I assumed where DBZ until I noticed the fist studs, Bloodline Rebellion and the late 00s fighting game revival was really where my awareness of Tekken starts. I remember articles with Harada talking about how they put an effort into making sure the game didn't just look good in motion, but that screen shots and stills looked good. It was a hell of a learning curve coming from SC2/3, GGXX, and 3S. Story mode ended up being the big hook initially.

Back in the day, I CANNOT believe I can say that for this game, but Tekken 6 was one of the first games we got when we got our Xbox 360 in 2010. I still remember my first experience and thinking "Wow, this game looks so good!" It was unbelievable to me at the time. Now, I was still young enough to where I didn't really care about really learning how to play the game, me, siblings, and friends were all still button mashing. I how to owe a TON to this game though, because I learned how to play fighting games. I didn't start really learning and eventually competing until MKX, but after that, I went back to learn Tekken 6, and from then on, Tekken has been my main fighting game.
Just like Tekken 5, I owe so much of my fighting game life to this game, and that intro movie gives me goosebumps every fucking time. The game may not have been great, looking back, but it was for sure an experience that I will always cherish.

This culminated with MLG DC in 2010 when I housed Knee and Nin for a couple of days following the tournament. I took them over to my buddies house and some other players showed up for games with Nin (Knee crashed out on his couch and didn’t budge for the entirety of the session), following morning I took them to the airport. They gave me the Harada signed HRAP3 they won for the hospitality, it was super rad.

I think the biggest problem with tekken 6 was not that jin was made to be a bad guy, but the fact the story was so forced and so badly executed, so it's hard to hate jin because the reason for him starting the war was so dumb, and it's hard to like him because of it too, so it'svery hard to understand how you shoukd feel about his character, he is a war criminal, but the reason was so forced, it'shard to accept, no wonder t7 and t8 kinda try to minimize t6 impact on the story.
If I were to fix the execution of the story without changing the story much, I would've made it so that azazel was bound to awaken in t6 story, not that he would've awakened only when suffering increases, but like azazel is bound to awaken then and there no matter what happens,
and then I would have jin start world war 3 so that he would get stronger thanks to the suffering of the world because of his devil gene (the devil gene so far has been explained so little that it would make sense if it gets stronger the more jin sins), this would've made much more sense and the war would've actually been inevitable, cause then it would've been either the whole world gets destroyed by azazel, or jin starts world war 3 to get strong enough to beat him, it's not that different from the actual t6 story, but it already makes more sense and it'seasier to understand jin's point of view, instead we got, jin starting a war cause maybe in the future azazel will wake up and he would've been to old to beat him.

T5 has Azazel (supposed to be Jinpachi pre-retcon) convincing Jin in his head with his words and plaguing him with nightmares till he couldn't take any more to start the war
From his POV, it's either Kazuya (prob won't help lol) or him who'd be able to kill Azazel in the present or the future since only 2 of them have the Devil Gene

Few things Max missed out on because Scenario Campaign gated a lot of it.
-In scenario campaign, your healthbar, attack power, and other things were affected by the clothes you wore that would drop in mission in scenario campaign.
-Alisa has an outrageous AI during her fight against her. (Look up Tekken 6 vs Alisa Scenario Campaign) Her chainsaws have a high chance to freeze the player going against her.
-This game is the origin of the Jin doing his infinite Electrics and the AI can just loop you in it if he wants to in scenario campaign.
-With each copy of Tekken, there was a Church's Chicken coupon in it with each physical copy of the game.
-Scenario campaign also had Co-op! Sadly, it came later in the game's cycle, and it acted as an alternative if you wanted to get cash for customization easily and items for your base game. It was only 10 stages, but they were pretty long. Also Co Op's progress did not tie to the main scenario campaign progress either
-Alisa's Double Rocket Punch (B,B, 1+2) could carry you through majority of scenario campaign without trying.
-Jin's stance changes when going against him in scenario campaign and he gains devil jin's laser which has a high freeze chance as a status effect, while mental alertness gives him fire damage.
-Among other things, this is the first (and possibly only game I think) Where Dragonov is confirmed he can speak if you play as him in the scenario campaign. It's only through text, but he's a selective mute.
-Nancy, the Bonus boss, is the first character to have the Wallbounce Mechanic that we see now in Tekken 7.
Think that's it. other than Azazel being laughably easy compared to Jinpachi. Only gimmick he has is the fact that he has no block animation, and he has True Ogre's Get Up comeback tool that punishes aggressive players.

Yes, absolutely. You really got to grind through those stages if you even want to attempt to unlock those two. The enemies in those stages have absolutely no chill.

Those stages were piss easy. You could kick DJ of the train and that's it, you win.

As much as I loved tekken 6, I was not a fan of this storyline, this whole cold hearted jin phase and "imma sink the world into oblivion to fight an evil god" thing was really left field, but to harada's credit, scenario campaign was fun and fighting Nancy and azazel were fun both af

I wanna mention to those who don't know that Tekken 6 is in PlayStation Portable. I played a heck to amount in that Console, just to realize I missed out a lot of content that was not present on PSP but present on PS3.
Story mode in the PSP however is Character specific. Each character has their own ending and there is no huge campaign. The game pretty much wants you to finish the game with the entire roster to discover what each character's fates are or what happened to them afterwards.

I couldn't edit my comment fsr.
I meant to say that PSP doesn't have a scenario mode and just opens up all character's story modes.

So my first experience with this game is pretty funny. I played it on psp first, which doesn't have the scenario campaign. It only has arcade and a story mode, which is just a shorter arcade with prologue and cutscenes for each character. So when I went through that, Jin had more cutscenes than the rest and I figured his was the canon ending. You can imagine my surprise when I read about the actual story on wikipedia.

tekken 6 completely ruined jin as a character for me, the concept of turning him into a villain is cool, but the way it was done is so lame...

Funnily enough, the PSP version had the traditional story mode front and centre rather than behind a scenario campaign

Can't remember another fighting game that character assassinated its protagonist as bad as this one did. If they wanted to give Jin a "villain" arc, surely there was a better way than this. He could still end up making some unpopular decisions "for the greater good", but this made no sense to who he was. Jin was never an "ends justify the means" type of person, least of all to this scale. Still makes me sad all these years later.

Man, Tekken 6 was my first fighting game. Then when Soulcalibur 4 came out I picked that up because it was also by Namco and it had Yoshimitsu.
I'd definitely play T6 scenario campaign before I ever touch Tekken 7 narrator's journey.

I had T6 on PSP and was really bummed that I didn't get the scenario campaign. I didn't own a PS3 at the time so I didnt know that you couldnt just play Arcade to get the story endings. The PSP version just had that.
