Luna is beauty and brains! ❤ I’m so glad the passengers treated everyone with kindness. While it’s frustrating to not be able to get to where you need to go, realizing what is out of your control and working with you instead of against you really makes things bearable for everyone. I’m glad that part was a good experience for you!
WOW! Working a trip to no where, to bad you had weather conditions and mechanical,/tire issues. At least you made it home safe and sound. Have a great day
I had a similar thing happen on a flight from Toronto to Chicago. The plane sat on the tarmac in Toronto for over 90 minutes. We took off for Chicago, then because of thunderstorms, we diverted to Madison, Wisconsin for fuel. Then we sat there for a while to wait for a slot in the landing pattern for Chicago. Needless to say, a regular 2 hour flight ended up take 5 hours. Such is the life of the business traveller.
Flexibility is the name of the game in the aviation world!! 🙂 I'm glad the passengers adjusted to the unfortunate circumstances 🙏 Miss Luna is just the best pet ever!!❤
I feel ya, Julia. My second week off flying I as scheduled to work Norfolk to Chicago then to New York with a 1pm departure. This was may1988 and the plane was a 727-100, old plane. Chicago had weather so we were on a ground hold in Norfolk. it was originally supposed to be a 45 minute hold. 3 hours later we took of and held in the air for 1 1/2 hours and then diverted to Detroit. All the gates in Detroit were full of other aircraft so we sat on the ramp for2 more hours. We rsn out of all bevarges and the lavs were full. After some intense words to Flt ops, the Captain was able to get some sodas, water and the laves serviced, but no gate. Eventually, we got to Chicago around 2:30 am. Our 14 hour duty day was so busted and because of everything the only hotel they had was an obscure little hotel an hour away from O'Hare. The cab driver wanted me to go into s bar in uniform to ask directions. i told him i couldn't do that. Besides, i knew the second I got out of the cab the driver would take off and leave me.
I love you the videos. I am very tired of flight attendant from American Airlines just a few years back. It’s a crazy world out there now from when I started anyways I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your career and enjoy it. I certainly hope that you are safe and take care of yourself.
Awesome video! This is what I want to be when I grow up, a flight attendant. All of the scenarios you deal with you’re so calm and it’s amazing! It’s helpful sometimes if this happens bc you get to read and relax. Obviously it can be difficult but you deal with it in a good way! Can’t wait for next vlog!!

How things have changed since I first started flying. We were the last training class for TWA in 1966. I left for training in Kansas City on Christmas Day. I flew commercial, travel club, charter, and corporate. Corporate was by far the best and most interesting. Appreciate your reading tips. You might enjoy the Australian author, Belinda, Alexandra. I enjoy your videos but, it’s a completely different world. I have a friend who still flies, and she said the bidding process is so complicated. We used to bid by paper. We flew with the same crew, cockpit and cabin, for the entire month and we had to share a hotel room with one of our fellow stewardesses.
Hi 👋🏻 I found your channel yesterday Subscribed! I follow cruise ship crew members which probably prompted me to you channel. I love your positivity and worth ethic. Keep up the good work!
Julia, the year was 1983, flight FRA-DFW. The flight was about 11 hours. Landed at DFW after several hours of storms. There were about 120 planes on the ground with no place to go. There were no procedures for this situation at the time. We have yet to get a gate for 12 and one-half hours. Yes,. 12.n5 hours. There was not one piece of ice or drop of anything to drink. Please don't worry if this happens. The good news was that after about 6 to 7 hours, the passengers were mentally and physically exhausted. They no longer spoke or moved. So, it is possible that passengers can become so tortured by events they just surrender. YOU WON. Sort of. All of us, the cabin and cockpit crew, were in equally bad shape. Hello to Eric. I am just beginning my 11th year of retirement. Keep working hard. I look forward to my retirement check on the first day of each month. 💲💵
Hey Julia! Thank you for the reminder (as a passenger) about delays/cancellations. I am definitely not one to be patient when that happens, but I always try to treat airline staff with respect even so! As for books, I’m in your book club and currently reading When the Moon Hatched! Also on the second book in TOG series.
Hi Stephanie!! Thank you for always treating the staff with respect, these days are hard on ALL of us. I’m so happy you’re part of my bookclub, thank you you for being here 🩵 I am LOVING when the moon hatched 🌙 & ENJOY TOG - that series has my hesrt and soul. Hi Julia, I liked your "while I'm sleeping," seg-way for the commercial was pretty creative and humorous! Well, I liked it! I'm flying to Hawaii in November. Hopefully, you'll have a trip there in the near future!!
Recently I picked up Joan Didion’s Let Me Tell You What I Mean ( she’s one of my favourite authors) that’s in the pipeline. I’m currently reading Laura Raicovich’s Culture Strike : Art and Museums in the Age of Protest; I highly recommend it as a look behind the operations of several museums. On the Fiction Front I just read Swimming in the Dark by Tomasz Jedrowski which broke my heart and shattered my psyche for several days after reading ( it’s the Polish Call me by your Name). Recently I finished A Certain Hunger; Chelsea G. Summers debut; I didn’t love it but it’s a fun campy read for those of us who enjoy a bit of murder with a side of gourmet food experiences.
The radius is fifty nautical miles or approximately or 93 Kilometres. As they say, it is far better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than in the air wishing you were on the ground. If an obnoxious passenger tries to give you some grief, remind them of that.
Julia, whether the weather is good or bad, it still a flight. I hope you got a decent hotel in Chicago, near O'Hare. Being a Chicagoland person, some of the nearby motels are janky.
Hi, well, my sweet Luna (goldendoodle) decided to jump last year in my backyard. She was 18 months old at the time and in cost us 8,000 because she needed surgery for one of the legs that had a double fracture. She made a full recovery ❤
Great vlog on a crazy trip Julia. On a side note, I think you may be the first person I've ever met who is NOT from Chicago but who pronounces Chicago CORRECTLY!
#JettingJulia I know when being a flight attendant it is a very difficult job. & how long have you been a flight attendant for? & why did you wanted to become a flight attendant? & I have been watching your videos for very long time & did you adopted Luna at?
Your first trip scheduled after knee surgery was a four day extravaganza, and now your first time back on reserve results in a weatherpalooza delay. Wonder what other post-surgery firsts are in the offing.😲
Julia, remember "bolts from the blue" can strike as far as 25 miles out from the parent thunderstorm. 🌩⚡People have been struck by lightning while under a perfectly blue sky.
Great vlog as always, Julia. It was great to see Luna. Hope the rest of your reserve month goes better than this past trip. I have a question for you. I flew through DFW on my way home from a trip, and i saw one of the old TWA planes going somewhere. I didn't know they still had those around, much less in Dallas. do you know anything about those?
Another entertaining video, thank you. Hope you don’t mind but me & a bunch of friends have started a new competition: we each secretly guess how long it will take to hear the word ‘exhausted’ in your vlogs. Nearest wins. Today’s recorded time: 35 seconds. I lost ☹️
I’m trying to understand if this is an insult to me or not? Like are yall making fun of me for saying I’m exhausted or is this in good fun? People complain that I say I’m exhausted.. but this IS an exhausting job. I don’t sugar coat it and I don’t lie about it. 🙃 it was 2 am when I said I was exhausted which is understandable lol On another note thank you to you and your friends for watching!
