- This is an easy tutorial on getting the Kinhank 2TB Hard Drive to boot. All you have to do is make the hard drive boot first, then disable the secure boot in the Bios screen.

Thanks, Bro. this is what i was looking for. i have a nice gaming laptop. but it's 10lb to lug around. so I got a Ryzen 7 4700u APU thin and light 13'' laptop that runs most of the games I play and it's only 2lb. and with this, I can set it up to play retro games on the go. big thumbs up.

Thanks for the video. I have window 8 on my laptop. When i go to security, only gives me two options, standard and custom, then when I go to boot only gives me option NIC (IPV4) and NIC (IPV6). UEFI does not show in options.
Your pc's cpu needs to be either x86 or x64, or it won't work

Thank you for this video! What are the minimum specs I need for Saturn, Dreamcast, N64 and GameCube will run well? Must have this hdd, but have no good pc in the moment.
An Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 with 16GB minimum of Ram would be the best specs to run all of those perfectly.

Still amazing for me that you can have all the systems with all the games on a modern device without bothering oneself with many old consoles and tons of cables, and ridiculous prices for second hand games. Even if the hdd dies, just buy a new one for 90$ and that's it.

I’m using an HP Envy 17 notebook with i7 processor (4510U) on Windows 10. My laptop recognizes the device as a USB drive but in the BIOS it only recognizes it as “USB diskette on Key/USB hard disk” and not as the EFI USB like in the video. Even when I put that first in the boot order, it only loads Windows and never Batocera. No clue what I’m doing wrong
Choose "legacy Mode' instead of EFI boot

Do you have to do a Hard Boot or can you Ctrl+Atl+Delete in that format to get back to the normal PC functions?
Just unplug it from the PC before you start it up again.
Holding shift just boots back to usual log in screen.
Some PCs use escape, F2, F12. Mine uses F7.
Man, I was so excited to get one of these. I'm honestly thinking mine is defective. I have tried 3 pretty powerful PCs and none of them will recognize it plug and play or in the boot menu. In my device manager it shows up as "JMicron Generic SCSI Disk Drive." I tried it via its USB 3.0 plugs on all 3 devices. Nothing. All I get is the green lights on the devices and some strange tones that come from the drive when plugging it in or starting it up. I have now even removed the drive entirely from its housing and inserted it into a physical bay inside my Alienware Alpha R2. Specs on it are:
Intel Core I-7 6700T CPU @2.8GHz | 16GB RAM | 64-bit operating system, x64 based processor.
Same results this way. I'm so stumped at this point.

@@superconsolex8384 when you plug yours in on a PC does it not show up at all? Does yours make clicking/humming noises? I wouldn't say I'm some top of the line computer person, but I do know my way around a bit. Something about this device seems off. I've since tried 2 more computers and the same thing happened with them as well. That makes 5, one of which is also running Windows 7 (why I tried it). I dunno man. Not saying they're all defective. I feel like mine might be. I uploaded the noises my is making. Can you tell me if that's normal?

Edit: I've done research. This noise I linked to is a sign of a defective drive. The head inside is not spinning up it appears. Looks like I'll have to try a fix or see if I can return it.
UPDATE: The drive head was stuck. It is now totally functional. I'm wondering if the drive got tossed around during shipment. Can't wait to give this a try. Your videos are what made me decide to check one of these out. I guess if you hear anyone else say theirs is making noises and not recognized, this could be the culprit.
I am at advanced options and I do not see the firmware that you mentioned but I see I have everything else is there a way to still complete the process when it does not show that particular you mentioned? If so can you explain?

Good video my friend- the reason why other people have issue by running ps2 and ps3 games from the other consoles that have the same game on the system you have ---- but in your case is a hard drive emulator running with what you pc can handle so if you have a better machine you should not have any problem at all - i just order one to for my self and is nice that you can use the xbox one remote nice - i just wounder and i will try to make a video about it is how to add more games to the system - also i will try to show how to make it work when is connected to a tv as well it should work ---

I wanted to buy this to connect to a mini pc arcade box 128G then play games on my Roku 32 inch smart TV ? 🖥 Would this hard drive work on my mini pc ?
On both my laptop and pc both windows 10 they don't recognise the drive, don't see it in windows explorer. When I try to boot of usb or hard drive I just get asked to insert boot media. Te drive makes a beeping noise when the pc powers up.
Looking at device manager under disk drives the USB shows as Device not Migrated due to partial or ambiguous match
Did a device scan with Seagate Seatools 0b capacity and fails short read test. I suspect that is a dud. :(
Did you follow the directions in the video? Everything starts in the bios bro. Whatever computer or laptop you're using, google 'how to enter the bios of that particular computer'. This is a very simple process.
Mine made beeping noises straight out of the package. After doing lots of looking around online, the noises resembled that of people who had drives with a stuck drive head over the drive. Some showed repairs on how to open it, which of that's the case, the drive can get dirty and you can ruin it. I was able to tap mine against the desktop to free up the drive. It spun up and opened on my PCs that wouldn't read it. The thing is, I can now see the drive in plug and play, but nothing will get this drive to appear the boot manager. Only 2 Onboard NICs are listed.
I did manage to grab a copy of the files on this thing, so I'm debating on copying it all over to another drive. It sometimes still goes into a funk and I have to give it a bop again. Seriously think I ordered a defective one.

I'm not sure what's going on. It works perfectly on my asus laptop, but when I try on my Pulse gl66 (msi) it starts to boots ... I can see it loading, I see the batocera screen and hear the music, but once it goes to the main menu with the games the screen is black. Looks like it's running on the background, but can't see it or hear it.
I have Lenovo but my set up utility looks different, the menu has main, devices, advanced, power, security, startup and exit. I can disable the secure boot that’s it
Do yours show on a TV on HDMI from your laptop because mine's don't it says no signal when I try to get it to show through HDMI on my TV but when I switch back to my laptop it shows. can you recommend anything

Jmicron is not showing in my boot order selection, but the laptop does recognize the hard drive once you plug it in. Do you know what could be happening here? Secure Boot is disabled.
Sorry to bother you but when choosing an Emulator for Naomi I only have 2 choices, Libretro/Flycast or Just Libretro. I'm seeing others using Demul emulator for Naomi? Could you look to see what Emulator choices you have on the Kinhank 2tb hard drive. Thank you.

I use a mini computer as well, never had that problem. Did you check the settings of your computer?
Go to your settings on your pc or whatever you have. Go to display settings and change it from portrait to landscape
I have a GPD micro pc and there bios are in portrait mode. So when I connected the hard drive to the micro pc, it was in portrait also. Eventhough the bios is in portrait mode using windows,I can change it to landscape mode but this hard drive does not have that feature. I can't even use the windows key to bring up the settings because it is running on the software of the gaming hard drive.

Thanks for the video. I just got this drive and think I may have messed up big. It looks like I am locked in UI guest mode without having setup a controller so I cannot enter the unlock code. You know of any way I can reset to default to get out of this situation?

Nah, no keyboard-keys list of descriptions for Batocera. Your bios menu on your computer should tell you what the 'F' keys do. I would advise NOT to tweak or fuck with the 'F' keys when you're in bios mode.

So I had this working for a while then, I wanted to update my computer so while the computer was off. I unplugged the hard-rive updated the computer and when I plugged it back in it started like the regular computer. I went back into boot menu and nothing was changed ? Any idea

I got it to work on one of my computers (my desktop) but having trouble running on my preferred laptop. I believe it may be something to do with "secure boot" but haven't figured it out yet.
I've been testing different ways in the BIOS of my laptop.
I am using a Lenovo Yoga 6 (13ALC6)
I will say it runs amazingly on my desktop and I love it so far.
I just want to be able to play easier on trips as well.
@@CrewbenV not sure if you're still having the problem, but I was having some kind of security error as well. You have to turn off the secure boot setting in the bios menu.

ABSOLUTELY! That's what I did with the Kinhank 12TB HDD. You can copy any games you want and add them to other external hard drives and/or computers.

Mines for some reason wont fully load. It will show the emblem, but then just goes to a black screen.

Did you have trouble with Arcade games not working? Naomi also doesn't work. Saturn works fine and Dreamcast but I wish MAME and Naomi would work.

Does it keep freezing? If it only happens once, just restart and repeat. Lemme know what happens.

I have to enter the bios and adjust it again every time I want to enter Batocera, if I don't, Windows enters directly. it seems that Windows takes over and freezes the HDD operating system. thanks for trying to help
@@t2003084 Disable 'Secure Boot', move the HDD boot option above Windows, choose 'Legacy' instead of UEFI, then save and exit.

True. The only difference is the super console x pc supreme is an actual gaming computer; the 2tb hdd is just a hdd, it needs a computer to work.

Did you make the first AND second boot the jmicron hdd? Make sure Windows is boot #3
Mine worked fine until I bought a new laptop msi katana now it wont boot it goes to the load screen and freezes worked fine on my msi gf63 wich i sold now i am screwed
You’re not screwed. Just make sure your security software on your new laptop is turned off before attempting to boot the hdd. Then try the steps again.

@@countrychris7081 You need to Update the Hard drive you bought. If you can connect to the internet using the hard drive then update it. If u cant u have to plug it into an older pc with the internet wired to the pc using LAN cable. That way you can update it to the 'stable' option

No games are loading now but last night they were all working. Now when I click on a game it tries to load for a few seconds but then brings me back to the games list. I have tried it on 3 different pcs and laptops that used to work but now do not. Support on this Kinhank is non existent and I will probably return it. It took forever to finally get working when I first got it and the solution was to plug headphones into the headphone jack. That actually got it working for a few days. Now none of the emulators are working for any game. I woke up and had a Bomberman tourney planned with the boys and this just sucks.
Did you fix this? I have a powerful as fuck set up and none of the games wanna work anymore even when I manage to play them the games go super fucking slow and have no sound at all idk what happened I tried playing the same games on emulators and they worked fine so I don't get it at all

@@justinbushaw oh I got the regular sound working for the menus but for ps1 games they play extremely slow and have no sound but if I tap F2 it goes back to regular speed and works like it should for a few seconds and then goes back to being slow as fuck.

What is the error when booting? Are you booting thru the bios?

i have lenova but i get it and play it but how i get to back beckose it only show now blackscreen after i got it unplugged??
