Thanks for watching! I'm Roger Wakefield, The Expert Plumber, and welcome to my channel. On this channel, it's ALL about plumbing. We play games, we experiment, and we have FUN here, talking and learning about all things plumbing!

Seaside plumbing is a real company based out of Delmarva (Delaware/Maryland/Virginia). Their billboards are rather humorous. I’m a plumber here in Delaware and I remember when we saw the ad at a supply house we were a little speechless.
Anyway. Love the channel I play some of your videos for my students in my apprenticeship class.
Thanks for making all these.
I'm also from Delmarva. Seaside is actually a very reputable company. They're just having a little fun here. I do HVAC work at their office sometimes.
I got called to go in after a plumber used plastic drywall anchors to mount one of those wall hung drinking fountains. little bit of backing and some drywall repair, and it's rock solid.
5:45 That water heater isn't necessarily leaking dangerous CO into the space. The rusted vent pipe you see is the intake pipe. I know that because this is a direct vent water heater. The venting on the heater is a concentric kit or a pipe within a pipe. So long as the exhaust pipe still has it's high temperature seals intact and the draft is pushing the air into the exhaust, it should be just fine in terms of operating safely. It should still be repaired, for sure. It's just allowing room air to mix with the outside air during combustion.
The atmospheric (natural draft) gas water heaters are more dangerous in my opinion as they already have a draft hood mounted on top allowing the heater to operate even if the vent connector or chimney is plugged or backdrafting.
Rodger you need to make a mustache growing tutorial please
Ask hulk hogan 😂
Good beard genetics
Thanks Roger, great vid!
Glad you enjoyed it
I've had hot water to toilets happen spontaneously, and I've seen it happen at a Walmart Bathroom. In all cases, it was failed check valves.
Someone left an upper decker in that person's toilet
Bit of (hopefully constructive) criticism....This video would be more watchable if we just stuck with the normal format these things normally show up in....the host in a smaller picture in the corner so the viewer can actually see what is going on.
You either watch this for the plumbing, or for the mustache... You're obviously of the former.
I love your toilet fixtures
You should see some power washing plumbing rigs
More of this please 🙏🏼 😂
Hey Roger I'm the the guy to the right in that Seaside picture
What an awesome picture 😂😂
Hey Roger I messaged you in LinkedIn when you have time to read it. Thanks for all you do!
I’ve seen hot water run to a toilet before but it’s always been accompanied by a mixing valve. The thought being it will eliminate any sweating if the bowl or tank.
This video made me a little feel better about being lazy and using a accordion trap a few years ago when i replaced my bathroom sink. Yes i still will replace it (eventfully) with a proper p trap.
6:06 the best part about that is that somebody connected a humidifier line to the drain down on the ball valve.LOL
That is the first time I've ever seen that.
Oh my god you’re right😂😂. Wtf?! Can’t believe I didn’t see that.
@6:40 We call it the "Neil Peart". 🥁🥁🥁
Not even in "the trades" and can see what the issues are! Good gravy people - A housewife does better plumbing!
I have a serious topic and i hope you can answer or discuss it in a video. I could really use your expertise.
So we know root killing chemicals like rootX works. But does this leave cracks from where the roots penetrated from now expose to water leaking out from the pipes and soil coming into the pipes? Thus beginning a new problem? Possible more clogs or maybe even a sinkhole?
I will greatly appreciate your advice.
I swear 12 seconds into the video after he says "Oh My Gosh" Roger is twerking in the background of his coffee cup...
Rodger, I need some input here. We have a new house that I built probably 5 years ago. I hired a pro to install our main plumbing lines. Everything has been fine up until the last year. For some reason we have our sinks and shower backup. The drain in the shower is black and I was told it is algae. I have tried multiple types of drain cleaner which did work but it returns in a few weeks to a month. We have a septic system so i am a bit concerned with what we put in the lines but this house has just 2 people and to have this happen on a new house where i never had this before in my other homes has me questioning if i done something wrong. We recently had my neighbor who is a plumber assist with replacing the drain on our kitchen sink. When he pulled it apart it was filled with this black thick stuff and that is what was causing the backup on the sink. He cleaned it all out and replaced the sink plumbing but i have no idea what is causing this or best way to prevent it.
Checking with you to see if you have any ideas. I was about to consider testing baking soda and vinegar but I am holding on standby until i get your input
2:46 what a nightmare, seriously that is so against Code. That scares the living crap out of me and I’m not even a plumber but man alive that is scary.
3 drum traps. Thired one washer machine next to sink. See it in old three family house's. But still only 2 traps.
I’m gonna have to send you a picture of a homeowner installed tankless heater. One of the craziest things I’ve ever seen.
Lemme see it!
3:34 the mess-trap
Your first example looks like something the Three stooges would have done.
Seaside Plumbing does a Sexy Plumbers Calendar every year. The proceeds fund their plumbing lab. The picture comes from that. Best Plumbers in Maryland and Delaware.
where is the diffuser that supposed to be on top of that water heater? lol
Hey Roger, I’m buying a house with cast iron pipes, the pipes are 40 years old, are they insurable or is it too much to fix them ?
I would recommend a sewer and water test during your option period. The sellers insurance may pay for it. You won’t be able to get those insured. Where is the house located?
MiCasa_es_miproblema = Myhouse_is_Myproblem lol! guy is smart!
Who edits these to be 65% Roger's big head and hardly any of the video in question 😂
People love my head....or so I thought LOL
I had a call one for a hot water in the toilet, turned out to be a faulty moen single lever cartridge in the shower
How does that send water to toilet?
Take pride in your trade. If you choose to DIY, watch a professional give tips and do not use “hacks”. Plan the work before doing it. It’s your house, do not accept sub par work just because it’s at a better price. You CAN afford quality. Because you’re going to pay more at the end if you do it bad up front.
I keep forgetting to post the good ones
hi, would you like to make a video for faucet?
What kind of faucet we talking?
