I like your videos, thats what we do all day, I am a drain cleaner, been watching your videos since I started over a year ago. Many thanks, from Omaha.
@@RogerWakefield Hey thanks for the taken interest! For mainline clogs that aren't verticle branch clogs I use the Ridged K-7500, 3/4". - If it's a mainfloor or top floor mainline clog I pull the toilet, use the ridged k-3800 with 3/8" snake that has up to 67' of cable. I use the 3/8" cable drum for pretty much everything with the exception of bathroom sinks. For bathroom sinks I take off the pop up stopper, use a 1/4" cable drum on the K-3800, push down in the trap, before turning the machine on I use channel locks to grip the cable and manually feed it through the trap, than turn on the machine and it'll unclog the sink with no dissasembly and no breakage! I always run water with cabling, no pop and stop; it's thoroughly cleaned out, they are paying premium prices for the highest quality drain cleaning service you can get in Omaha with an automatic warranty through the oldest drain cleaning company in the game... ;) PS my personally owned work van is cleaned and organized and I know where everything is! Your last video got me to be more organized!
also the new rodgid electric auger I was field testing it and I do not like it, not enough clearance to get over things and is real bad on the lower back.
Just had a plumber come out. Big plumber company. He unclogged the basement line… not main line. He pumped out black sludge. He said we immediately need to break up our basement concrete and put all new plumbing right away. He said galvanized metal does not mix with water and creates black sludge . He said it’s probably already cracked open and he needs to put a camera down to see. My husband refused. Then plumber said well let’s see if water drains. We filled up wash machine and kitchen sink and released at same time. No water came up. I said well if there is a hole then wouldn’t the water go into the dirt and not come up? Any way. I’m wondering about this black sludge because it looked like old grease to me. Thanks! Love your show.
Just do a hydrostatic test with a leak detection company. They'll be able to isolate and help check if you need to replace the plumbing. Then get a good idea and formal estimate of what they need to do, open it up to other plumbers for bidding. It's an expensive project and leak detectors are very expensive plumbers. Not doing it will destroy the foundation of your home. Good luck
@@User-y9t7u thank you so much. It’s smart to hire a company that won’t profit from that big of a job. Do you know if black sludge is a result of water and cast iron not being compatible? If that’s the case why use cast iron in first place? I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question.
@@jmoon4686 no idea. Honestly sounds like a scam. But i know cast iron degrades over time. They probably didn't have PVC at the time they were putting cast iron for your waste water. Though I know they use cast iron for other things and it's still used for vents. In the original comment I didn't see this was basement and not main. If there's not much water flow it won't be much of a problem. My main had leaks and it messed up the foundation.
Hello, Instead of flaring the end of the water tube as you showed, I used to have an L shaped ridge locking tool that the short end fit inside the tube and as you turned it a small ball bearing cammed out and pushed a small ridge outward to create a locking surface.
I dont even need to know, but would still like to. Recent bathroom renovation I discovered an extra drain stack I didnt even know I had because it was hidden in a wall. But it explains how the pipe runs works in my utility room with the back flow preventer
Thankfully in my area we have mostly crawlspaces so we have the luxury to just crawl under and see how everything is running. I have noticed a lot of the newer homes going up are all being built on slabs though.
Hey I have been trying to find a way into residential service plumbing and I don’t know the best route to take should I go into a union at first or should I join a open shop I’m eager to get my hands dirty and start my living I eventually want to own my own plumbing company any advice on the step I should lean into
Hey there. I'm building a fense and realized the neighbor's main eater shut off is within my property line. Water company said it would cost $100s to tap a new water line. Any advice?
Most homeowners do not have cameras and locators. You could have mentioned how people without those tools can visualize the plumbing they have using physical signs of the plumbing above ground, combined with code that dictates how plumbing can be run directionally and joined together underground, I'm guessing you might have went over this in another video or being a master plumber you are assuming most people just generally understand these things which I get, but most people don't understand the real basics of how things even flow out of their home, let alone figuring out where each individual section would flow directionally lol.
Ironic part is i had roto rooter try to find a leak (tried cause they suck) andif you read their contract if their equipment gets stuck in your pipes YOU have to pay for them to get it back... that's right if they get their camera stuck in your pipes you agree to pay to get it back out or replace their camera Hope that's not industry standard but i'll never agree to that ridiculousness.

Hey Rodger! What are you doing in my father-in-law's bathroom!?!?!
He invited me over!😂

Because it's guessing. At the end of the day if you are going to make videos on a subject you do not guess. You know.

Maybe that is the point? You need someone with those tools or you are just guessing.
@@johndorian4078No one should hire that joke of a company. That’s ludicrous!
