Great instructional video! Question at 1:02:00: why is ISE needed as an IP helper-address if you already send the framed IP address attribute (8)? Is the attribute simply a variable that allows ISE to reference the IP, but does not know the exact IP given from DHCP?
Framed IP is useful to do policing so ISE can know the devices in IP level as well. When we put helper , ISE does not use the incoming DHCP information to assign IP address , it is using it to profile the end point . My understanding is Framed IP and DHCP need to be processed hand in hand on ISE which means ISE will get and group devices based on the incoming DHCP information and apply ruling by using attribute 8 which is Framed IP. Even if two have the IP information , fullfilling different tasks on ISE.
What is the cause if the eap-request packet is not sent from the device?
Should IP helper-address commands go to router SVI (layer 3 device) instead of SW1 (layer 2 device)? Your topology shows SW1 is access switch not L3 device.
