I have the Maxim PDX in 7.62x39. It is badass, and everyone who shoots it loves it and usually tries to buy it from me. I voided my warranty but putting a can on it, oh well so worth it

There is a misconception regarding Maxim and their warranty. It does not void the warranty at all. I literally just got off the phone with them. The guy a spoke with mentioned they will warranty their gun but not an off-brand suppressor.

Maxim’s PDW stock/BCG system is pretty sleek! They’re definitely doing some cool stuff over there without being obnoxious about being “boutique” or whatever. Much respect.

The primary reason I like the PCC is because of the subsonic capability. The fact that subsonic 9mm is much less expensive than .300k Blk makes it more practical for frequent range trips.
Don't get this excuse. PCCs are legit as range toys so if you want as a toy just say so, no tactical purpose though - but if cheap to shoot at the range and/or quiet is your use case get a .22LR. 147 grain 9 mm is 5 times the cost of .22LR.
@@scottbell7818 There are alot of reasonable perspectives on the topic, and I appreciate where you are coming from. No doubt, .22LR is great on the range, and has a phnomenal cost to fun ratio. To your question, and in the interest of clarifying my perspective, I think there are great 9mm subsonic defensive rounds. There are also relatively inexpensive 9mm target rounds. I value the ability to shoot subsonic with a supressor, and also enjoy shooting steel with something stronger than .22. For me, 9mm is a versatile cartrige that has some qualities that 5.56 lacks. At the same time, 5.56 has some qualities that 9mm lacks. It's just a matter of what tradeoff you want to make on a SBR. 300 Blk is the best of both worlds on paper, but the cost makes it relatively prohibitive to shoot regularly. Luckily, we don't have to choose between 9mm, 5.56, or .300 Blk because we can build different platforms for different purposes. Hopefully this clarifies why I personally enjoy PCCs.

@@jakek09 The main tactical purpose of a PCC is the fact that it shoots fast in full auto.. once that is neutered, you really lose the advantage. For kicking doors and unsuspecting soft targets-- sure; even 22LR gets it done.. but You wouldn't want to have a pcc while going up against a guy with a rifle.. He has you at distance, and if you have armor.. he has you beat there too, most likely.

I like the huge variety of options for smaller “pistols” or SBR’s. I wouldn’t personally choose a 5.56 round for a 5.5” barrel. I have a 6.5” 300BLK that does very well out of the shorter barrel. Thanks for the video!

The intro is insane!
So I was shooting 7 years ago in 5.56 I built on a six inch barrel on a Troy Industries PDW stock… it came with a similar BCG except the buffer end is permanent and part of the BCG. I’ll probably rebuild it soon but I’m going to 300 black, the parts wear was inane. I never had issues with it. The key was a stout suppressor and a good adjustable gas block. At the time the SLR titanium gas block worked very well.
32:31 all very valid points… the only reason I see for even having a PCC now is if it takes the same mags and ammo as your handgun… if it doesn’t, you did it wrong.

The production quality of the opening sequence was insane 😮💨 i will now subscribe after months of ninja watching.
As long as a projectile is stabilised properly, barrel length is largely meaningless for accuracy (outside of losing so much velocity you hit transonic that much faster), that lost velocity is significantly more important in terminal effect, with velocities like 55's get out of this you have nearly identical kinetic energy as a 9mm 124 +P out of a similarly sized SMG/PDW (77's get 10-20 joules more, a negligible amount), while the 5.56 will have nearly no expansion of HPs or fragmentation at all whereas the 9mm will actually expand and perform as expected.
This is basically a much more expensive to feed PDW for no terminal ballistic benefits. Theres a reason why the unit in question which initially put out the RFP that resulted in the PDX-SD is using Sig Rattler's in .300BLK now.
On the upside its an incredibly cool range toy thats cheap to feed if you've got lots of other 5.56's.
Also please stop judging a guns mechanical accuracy with anything less than 15 round groups (averages of 3 x 5 can work but not ideal), 5 round groups are largely meaningless, you need to push the round count much higher to get any idea of what the average performance of that barrel and operating system will do.
Soft points in 5.56 will still expand out of this barrel length.
@@es4583 Colossally inconsistently and not uniformly, 5.56 is extremely velocity demanding for proper expansion and fragmentation, 55's need 2600+ FPS to achieve desired outcomes, 77's need 2400+ for the same.
@@Ihasanart 77 SMKs fragment at 2200 fps. 77 TMKs are ballistic tips. The ballistic tip will cause it to open up down to 1750 fps.

I love the random surprising comedy throw into your videos. It reminds me of one of my favorite videos uploaded by a Forward Observations Group Operator of a compilation of his helmet cam footage in Syria I believe. Wild intense real world combat, then on a patrol a super high speed Delta looking war fighter looking as bad ass as they come jogs up to a to a small shit ditch and you’re drooling in the coolness when he squats down & does the most hillarious Michael Scott Parkour jump over the ditch , then a montage of the office Parkour like clips of these Legends performing some of the best physical comedy ,…in clearly a hot zone. The combination of some of the most amamzing combat footage that is also cinematic with random inserted hillariousness is one of my favorite videos I’ve ever seen and a combo I live for. Garand Thumbs vidoes have some of it , and clearly yours take it a step further and I love it! Keep up the great content! Your content is unique and going to skyrocket! I have a 7.5" AR pistol in 5.56mm. The guys are right, 300AAC and 7.62x39mm are better options IF you want to diversify away from 5.56mm but....5.56mm is no slouch. A youtuber, Poboy Special has done chrono and gel tests on a 7.5" AR shooting a bunch of different ammo and results clearly exceed pistol calibers i.e 9mm in a PCC. M855 green tip is a good example being easy to source. It was getting 2235fps or 690ft/lb, good wound cavity and 16"+ penetration. M855A1 is even better, 740ft/lbs and similar results, inc. fragmentation.

5.56 PDWs actually make a lot of sense for most people.
A) it's more performance than a PCC
B) you probably have plenty of 5.56 lying around and don't need to buy a new ammo type
C) the ammo is generally cheaper, making it more accessible to go training and stockpile for SHTF larps
D) it's a PDW, it's a defensive weapon, it doesn't need to be super sneaky and silent because the shooting will have already started before you. It exists to get you/your friends/your family to safety, it's not about conducting an assault
E) there may be advantages from a Mil perspective. It can be easily resupplied if you're conducting plain clothes ops and you're compromised and QRF is deployed to assist you because it's likely they'll be using 10.3/11.5 5.56 guns

I converted one of these into a post-sample MG. It almost exclusively gets used indoors and that suppressor would be nice to have lol. The tiny blast-can on the front does do its job well though.

There was an Arfcom'er back in like circa 2017ish and made a homemade buffer like that. He posted it in the DIY Pistol forum. IIRC All he did was shorten and rethread a KAK pistol tube, he made his own buffer on a lathe that fit into the back of a standard bcg and cut down an A2 buffer spring. At the time he was running a 7.5" barrel. I can't remember the thread title... mouse gun or some variant of that, mouse slayer build.
