Yeah, my wahoo bolt has been faultless! 👍👌, while my Garmin 945 activities are hit and miss on uploads, and its a nightmare to find just how to simply submit or upload them 🤦🏻♂️. Sort it Garmin!
You prolly dont care but if you guys are bored like me atm you can watch all the new movies and series on Instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my girlfriend lately xD
On thing I like about Strava on an Apple watch is that you just press “finish” at the end of your session and then hit upload and BAM it shows up on Strava. Easy peasy! And I should mention too - extremely reliable.
@@jollygoodvelo I don't really look at it much. I'm thinking about using an old iPhone 6 too. Trying to hold off until new Wahoo computers come out. I heard Garmin has great features like climb pro but is quite fiddly to live with.
thanks! I am planning on getting a Garmin device and this video is excellent to follow instruction in a fluid manner. Which Garmin device do you use in the video? I am still undecided as to which model to buy
@@jollygoodvelo many thanks for the reply. Which model do you use nowadays if that's not asking much? I am still deciding on which Garmin bike computer to get so I am curious
@@xosece No problem. These days I am using the Hammerhead Karoo 2. I stopped using Garmin a little while ago because I found them a little too unreliable.
@@jollygoodvelo thanks for the reply! I finally got my first ever bike computer and I decided to get the the SIGMA ROX 11.1 EVO, as I love its intuitiveness and simplicity, it's compatible with Garmin Varia radar, and I also can save my phone now 'cos I always carry my phone, but I recorded my routes in both Strava and Komoot and the battery dries out, sometimes I found out that the phone has just automatically switched off, and while Strava and Komoot let me recover the route, the whole trip doesn't get registered and I can't make more photos of the places where I go.
Hi, thanks for the video. May I ask if you know why I can't see and select Strava in the Garmin Connected App? It only shows Office 365 and Apple Health. Thanks again.
I have a Garmin Edge 705 that isn't wireless, but I use the desktop app "Garmin Express". About 6 months ago, every time I connected the 705 via USB "Garmin Express" would pop up with a sign in screen. I sign in wait a few minutes and Express would either pop up another sign in screen or exit out completely. I now upload rides manually by going to the website and clicking on the "Upload or Import Activity" menu item at the top... It gets annoying sometimes to have to do that.
It should work again and again and again. It didn't today for some reason - I blame the Strava outage earlier on - but I'll check tomorrow's ride to see if it loads as I'm accustomed to and if not then there is some tech wrinkle to sort out - I'll keep you posted if so....
I had more trouble trying to get routes from Strava on to my Garmin Edge 130. What a total pain in the bum! I had to add a third party navigation app using yet another Garmin website?! Not well integrated at all! All up and running now though. I’d not noticed before as I know where I’m going locally for more miles around than I can ride in a day anyway, but I wanted to ride somewhere new and follow a route. It should be easy and intuitive, but it wasn’t.
Just bought a Garmin Edge Explore, I think it's the only one you can't upload to Strava with, utter rubbish although I'd be happy to be proved otherwise.
Best advice so far on the subject 👍
Escaped Garmin for Wahoo 3 years ago. 8 years of Garmin hell was over.
I know what you mean. Garmin can be a bit flaky.

@Princeton Lucian Definitely, been using InstaFlixxer for years myself :)

But isn’t it a little bit inconvenient to have to keep looking at your watch if you need to see the numbers while you are riding?

Howling laughing in Wisconsin! Thank you.
Glad you liked the little mention! Hope it helps you work out your issues with the Garmin.
Nice, clear, concise. Ty.
Thanks Gareth.
I have one question please. During bicycling I must have the Bluetooth to my phone and to Garmin edge enabled?

The device I use in this video is the Edge 500 but it’s quite an old device now.

Will this interfere with bluetooth connection to earbuds? I’d have to choose between pairing my phone to Garmin or earbuds.
Sounds like it might. I know that Bluetooth will only allow one connection per device.
What a great teacher.Ciao

You can also connect to komoot via Garmin connect.

I know Garmin can be very flaky sometimes. That said, I think they way you are uploading is probably the most reliable.
Do Strava segments work while recording in Garmin?
They do.
Top tips.👍
Thanks
What if my mobile phone's batterries drained, can the garmin cycling computer still sync to strava?
You can. Just wait until your phone is recharged and then let it and the Garmin do their thing.
Leonard did you intend to show your weight on the Strava page?
Not especially!
Always wondered, now we know. Lightweight, harrumph.
My ride wasn’t completed when my Garmin switched off, due to flat battery. If I switch on my Garmin, I can only see the ride in my history folder.

Yes, sometimes doing things like that can be a little over complicated
@@jollygoodvelo you aren’t kidding! Got it nailed now, but it still should be easier!
Why are you using strava to build routes? Garmin connect has a route builder built in, similar to komoot
@@freddydad1 mainly because this is so new to me I’m trying different ways and using some routes created from rides logged in Strava
Premium strava features are free on connect, garmin device needs to be toggled to auto upload.
I didn’t know that.
Occasionally it doesn’t auto upload. If you switch your Garmin off and then back on again that usually makes it upload to Strava.
Thanks for the tip.
You don't need to switch it on off, just force device to sync
@@freddydad1 that sometimes works not always though. Since I upgraded to 1030 plus it hasn’t happened very often. It did when I used the 1000.
Ha ha I still have to plug my Garmin Edge 800 in using a cable. Maybe time for an upgrade!
If it ain’t broke...
What’s strava?
Ha ha!
