I'm very new to komoot. I've just downloaded it and its installed on my Garmin Edge 530, along with a weeks rides for my trip ftom Rome to Calabria, along the Amalfi Coast starting in 10 days time. I work in Saudi Arabia and Komoot doesnt seem to work here, though I've not tried, I've just been informed this is the case. My question is, now that the routes are on my Garmin 530, is that all I need turned on? In other words, is the Garmin 530 operating in "offline maps" mode? Is there more features I'm missing out on by not using my phone screen instead? Also, I've noticed all the routes have also appeared on my watch. (Galaxy Watch 4) I'm assuming the watch wont start unless I activate it or perhaps if I use the phone it could be automatically activated but I'm assuming I can use the Garmin 530 without any interaction with the phone/watch collaboration? Sory if explanation is vague!!
It will be the maps installed on the device so most of the time it will be a Garmin map, unless a third party base map has been installed on the device
Very useful and well explained Adam. One question. If I want to use my Garmin (520) for the visual guidance but the voice instructions from my mobile phone (with Komoot) how/can I do that so that everything is synchronised? Thanks
You would probably need to press start on the Garmin & also press start on the Komoot app on your phone & off you go, you would then get vocal instructions via your phone or earphones
Installed IQ etc etc gave it permissions to spy on me and all that. Worse than not working, it half works. It uploaded one route from Komoot and Kommoot downloaded all my five little mini rides without the names so they just clutter up my komoot account with stuff i don’t know what it is and i don’t have most of my planned routes on the Garmin. Hopeless. Is there a trick to sorting this mess out? Everything I tried so far has made it worse and worse.
you get one region for free when you create an account I think. So its fine for local rides. If you're riding in other places you'll need to purchase other regions or the world
It seems you have to pay for any routes you create outside your free area and want to send to your device. Also the same if you want to download a route that someone else has created outside the area you choose when setting up your account.
bit chaotic process but worked at the end thanks
Magic, thanks. You are a flippin' star mate. You probably just save me years of tears.
Hi, I found your video and liked it. Which is the best Garmin unit for Komoot as I've got the LEZYNE MEGA XL
Really helpful Adam - brilliantly explained and saved me a huge amount of time - thank you!

Only works if you've paid for the regions/maps in Komoot?
Hi Adam, this works but you lose all waypoints and planned stops. Anyway around this?
Very useful thanks!
Great Video. Thank U Adam. One question. What maps is Garmin using with Komoot? Garmin installed maps or maps from komoot?

So there Garmin Connect Garmin Express Garmin IQ Komoot Komoot IQ… how many apps do I need to install to get a route I planned onto a Garmin?
