      Me for almost as long! 😄😳. I have to say, I think of all of the DVDs sitcom series that I own, this one really has to take first place in terms of, as nick-at-nite used to put it, "rewatchability" !

    The looks she gives him in the restaurant over her shoulder and in the car when he figures out why she is mad is the same look mom would give dad. She used that look a lot when she was mad. My brother and I still say "there's the look". 🤭

      My late mother had that look too. Not only towards my father, but to me as well. The only things was, she was mad most of the time so inside the house, that kind of became her normal look.

    When this show started in 1961, I was 9 years old. Have always liked it but the older I got the better it was to me. Nowadays I absolutely love it, so decent, relationships were great examples of what I would want, outrageously funny in all sorts of ways, unique still.
    Thanks and blessings for sharing this, it has been great to have these episodes to enjoy in my 70th year! 🙏👏👍👍♥️👵

      With lots and lots and LOTS of lying, deceit, cheating....all through the entire series. I realized it just two months ago, and I've been watching it since it first came out in the 1960s.

      I can see that as foremen Rob was acting “goofy.” The program did show how a man can be captivated and loose focus. That is why it is comical. But I agree it isn’t good or right behavior in court or anywhere else. It did show how people act in the world.

    19:28 when pickles say : anatol wrap it up for the dog. Buddy looks at Salley and head nods in disbelief in pickles direction. Sally then to buddy head nods in Herman's direction ......priceless

    I wonder what kind of car Rob was driving? Looks like a Ford convertible to me.
    I loved the John Daly reference with the one word. That was a plug for Whats My Line which was a very popular game show at the time and was also on CBS just like the Dick Van Dyke Show.
    I sure with women still dressed like Laura and Pickles when they go out for dinner and/ or a show/movie. They just look SO elegant and pretty.
    It's awesome that Dick Van Dyke turns 98 this year and is not only still with us, but will actually appear as a guest star on a couple episodes of the soap opera Days of Our Lives this fall.

      She was in a few episodes. I always got a kick out of her. Because she looked and acted they way Buddy always portrayed her.

    Richie says that a banana is the food his dad can make as well as mom does, but in another episode (the one where Laura is a dancer for The Alan Brady Show) he says he likes mommy's bananas better.🍌😄 Funny how the scenery out the rear car window is going sideways.😄

    I couldn't help recall this scene reminded me of Mary Tyler Moor in Ordinary People when she sat in the front seat of the car on the way home from a party steaming mad over Donald Sutherland having shared with a friend of their son Conrad getting counseling.

      It was anything but a "heap"! It was the epitome of luxury in the 1960s; a 1960-1963 Chrysler Imperial; my father had a 63.

      It does look a bit rough at the top trim. But they used the mock cars for many episodes of many shows, with crew rocking it back and forth to simulate driving.

Ah yes, the 1960s, when men were men and women were women; It's called *REALITY!* - At 0:30, Dig that 'cool' 1960-1963 Chrysler Imperial! My father had a 63 Imperial that looks nearly identical to the car in this episode. Chrysler sure held onto those 1950s styling cues much longer than Ford, GM, or even cash-strapped AMC.

      Oh I love this Pickles! 😄 She and Buddy sort of reminded me of Kermit and Miss Piggy 😄💗 (and I mean that in a sweet way just cuz she's bigger than him 😁) I love her timing and expressions. But we all like different things and people for different reasons! 😁

      @@kurtkomit The "interior" shots weren't even a car, it was just a thing they sat on with a frame around it to make it look as if it was a closeup of a car. My parents had a 1957 Dodge Royal, same body design, gorgeous vehicle, but there's was nearly all black, with white "wings."

      Yes she was, but there was no call for her to act like she did giving Rob the silent treatment and acting like some school girl. Married people, especially college educated ones like Rob and Laura are supposed to say what is bothering them and discuss it like decent human beings.

    I liked Mary Tyler Moore on her own show, as Mary Richards, but on this show she is bitchy so much. I am generally on Rob's side. I have been married since 1980, my husband and I never bossed each other or had conflicts. Mostly what gets Laura riled up is no big deal.

    I always hated that particular attitude the writers put on her---that ugly pouting, self-righteous attitude wasn't the least bit appealing.
    My parents had a car just like that one, only all black. By no means did it wobble all over the road when they drove it! It was a huge tank, very stable on the road!

      Parents were'nt so overly concerned about toys. Also, their dads might've taught them how to use the archery set properly.

      Slides were shiny steel, and playgrounds were real dirt, not rubber.

    This show is still funny, but seems like in most eps the Petrys are either fighting or Laura is bawling about some stupid thing.I liked MTM in her own show in the 1970's best. She was a wimp on this show.

      She was acting as the script writers called for, unfortunately. She wasn't a "wimp" in this one--she was outright nasty and pouty, very ugly traits for someone who usually didn't get written in as a vile, mean woman. And their last name was spelled PETRIE, not with a 'y.'

      @michellepost2123 The shows were from two different eras. Women's liberation happened between the two, and boy are we lucky. The old way kept women in a lower status in the home and workplace.

    Too bad they had to promote smoking in Season 2 because they had a cigarette company as a sponsor. But you never actually see them smoking. I think in real life neither of them did. But those were different times.

      Carl Reiner said that MTM was probably more upset about how much "face time" she did not get, in the episode where she was stuck in the tub, because she had decided to quit smoking the same week of rehearsal for this episode.

      It was a SCRIPT, written by the show's writers. And at no time whatsoever, anywhere in the series, did "Laura" ever ask "Rob" to spend more money on her, and the few times he was scripted to do so, she didn't like it one bit. In other words, YOU'RE WRONG, 100%!!!

      Well Rob and Laura had only coffee. They joined Buddy’s party, so Buddy should have picked up the check. Rob was trying to win people over, that’s the lesson of this episode
