I do think once your used to one or the other you can achieve similar lap times but even with less sharpness (it’s still sharp enough imo) vr is just next level and so much fun I love it
My thoughts exactly. I used bumper cam exclusively prior to VR2, and it's taken a lot of adjustment, and I'm probably still slower No way I'm going back to flatscreen, tho!
I’m faster in 2d. I’d think most people are. But that’s from using the hood view. Or even bumper view. It’s definitely harder from the cockpit. But if you want the best experience VR is pretty much unbeatable. And of course you CAN be faster in VR if that’s what you work at.
I'm only a smidge faster, but I'm far, FAR more consistent with VR. Hitting apexes is just so much easier when you can turn your head to aim your car at them instead of just trusting your muscle memory in 2D. Before, my lap times were all over the place, now they're all within a second or two of my best time. Just today I had a Le Mans run with back to back laps within .005 of each other, which is crazy for a 4 minute lap.
Since release of VR2 I haven't played GT7 on a flat. But out of curiosity I tried a few days ago after driving for over an hour in VR to run a few laps on TV. It was terrible. Missed braking points, couldn't hit the apex and I had no feeling for the road. Super weird and my brain had issues processing the 2d screen. I didn't even finish 1 lap. Went straight back to VR 😂
You mentioned that you would want a virtual mirror in VR. That to me would destroy the immersion. That was the first thing I would turn off in iRacing when racing in VR. I would even rather have tire information on and MFD in the car than floating in front of me. I prefer all HUD elements turned off. Even the names over the cars in multiplayer, but you need this info or you will wind up on the side of the road with useless tires and out of fuel. lol
I never have any issues with immersion in VR even with all the things on in GT7. I still feel like I'm driving a car. I also find that the mirrors in GT7 are hard to judge with. The rearview makes it look like someone is a half lap back but the side mirror makes it look like they are on my bumper.
@@thecasualracinggamer it would have really been nice to have mirrors like they have in iRacing or Live For Speed. I would also have liked to see the Internals of the car in the rear view mirror.
Good video! If I know the track very well I don't get any better times in VR, but if I dont know the track so well I find it much easier to driven in VR then on a flat screen.
I only started VR 4 days ago. Very immersive but my lap times are way worse. About 2 seconds increase on a track that takes about 1:40 per lap. Really hope i can get faster because VR is just amazing
You'll get there! Just need time to adjust. If you were using the hood cam or bumper came, just make sure you are hitting your break markers with the front of your car and not where you sit in the car. It can be harder to judge the front of your car if you are not used to it. Just break a little earlier then you might be used to.
I considerably more consistent im VR. Seems like it comes down to the way people think. I am in the camp of mostly spacial way of thinking and 3D depth for me is a cheat in comparison to flat TV.
I am still getting used to the VR but I am within half a second on most tracks. My consistency is much better though. On a TV my laps are within two seconds, in VR, they are normally withing four tenths.
At first when in went into vr I had adjust my way of thinking about driving, it's not real, nobody is going to be injured if I crash or hit another car. I only have a budget logitech g923 wheel and pedals mounted on a budget racing seat and frame, but for me it's perfect. Maybe in a few years the technology for the average consumer will be as good as 4k, it best hurry up because I have lived more years than years I have left based on the average lifespan.
I run a budget setup. Been using a Thrustmaster T150 wheel for years. Eventually upgraded the pedals to the T-LCM, budget load cells. I'll eventually upgrade my wheel but I have no complaints with what I have been using for now.
@@thecasualracinggamer eventually I will upgrade to a better wheel and pedal set too, like many others I enjoy watching and learn from you. Keep up with the splendid content on your channel Sir , thanks from England UK.

LOL
I felt exactly the same
100% how I felt going back a couple days ago. Never again.
You pretty much nailed the pronounciation of „Nürburgring“, cheers from germany! 👍
Hey, thanks!

What wheel are you using?
Not watched this yet, I will, but for me, faster in PSVR

@@thecasualracinggamer thank you. I will try that. great videos mate. keep up the good work. 👍👍👍👍

Consistency is good. It's what I shoot for.

After a month of racing in VR. I have now been significantly faster. Like 1.5 secs more. I easily hit the apexes now
I’m faster more consistent in vr but it took time, just like 2d it takes time to get fast, I can’t go back to 2d now not a chance
I don’t know. Haven’t played on flat screen since psvr2 was launched. Doubt I will ever play a racing game on flat screen again
😁
im terrible on monitor after using psvr2
I only drive in cockpit view. Can't stand any other view.
Interesting.
