I've owned this pedal for years and only just realized that I wasn't using it to its full potential. Thanks.
Harry Heretic I’ve had one for years and have never been able to use it.
Yep! I'm here cause i don't know how to use my own pedals.
@@Steve91694 1:40 he explains how to switch it from "RO" (overdub) mode to "RP" (playback) mode. Only way to make it record after one tap prior to any playback is to reset the loop channel (hold down the pedal for 2 seconds). You can also google the RC-3 owner's manual. Hope this helps!
I'm always impressed by people's generosity when they share their knowledge like this. Many thanks.
Loop station rc1
They are advertising
Ask them for one for nothing and see how generous they are.
Thank you very much. Helped me figure it out✌
i asked for 1, they gave me 2 😄
That initial bit changing rD to rP is INVALUABLE! I haven't seen anybody else demonstrate that.
It doesn't work for me
@@williep1626 - make sure you follow EXACTLY what the man says - I cocked it up the first time I tried it.
@@williep1626 worked for me
It changed everything for me. I was about to throw it out😅
I had no idea till now.
Thank you! I acquired an RC-3 two weeks ago and found the booklet to be difficult for me to understand, so this has given me a good start. I'm sure I'll learn more moving forward. Thanks again.
record to play mode helped me a lot - great tip at the beginning!!! I would often get a great first loop but then mess up the immediately recorded second 'overdub' loop. It makes much more sense to me in the second mode
Thanx for this video, its simple, but so necessary
because the manual written by BOSS is just bad for beginners. As a beginner you don't start with overdubbing, You want to create a one layer loop and then solo over it. In the manual you find this most valuable information just on page 19!. These guys in the video bring it first!
Right on! I just bought this pedal and was immediately overwhelmed by reading the manual. These guys saved me a lot of headache's.
The opening instructions have completely changed my view of this pedal - purchased years ago as hardly used as the overdub function wasn’t how I thought it should work - completely changed my view with that opening tip - Thanks!!!
well damn, going from record to play is the secret. going from record to overdub is stupid. THANK YOU
Yeah it’s like set up for a stage performance out of box haha - let me shred!!!! 😂
Thank you guys! Yesterday I saw this kind of loop station in music shop wondering how it works and your tutorial was so helpful!
I just got this pedal like within the last couple days. I almost was about to get rid of it bc I thought that it was just stuck the way it was and I thought how is everyone making it work and I can’t. The bit where you showed how to change it to record/play just saved me from getting rid of it So glad you two made this video
Love your Scouse accent Mark.... My wife is from Liverpool. Thanks for the demo and I think I'm going to buy one tomorrow from my local music shop here in Sydney. Cheers mate!
Thank you, this video helped me so much. After I played around with my rc3 I felt such happiness I can barely describe it.
This pedal is by far the favourite and most useful of my collection.
Great guide! Best I’ve seen. After viewing this I went out and bought a looper. Boss rc3
My dudes. I’ve had this pedal for 10 years and never knew this. Game changer.
Thank you for that ... I have had a Loop pedal for a couple of years & had no idea how to use it. Always having the Air gap issue.... Yay I might be able to make it work now.
Sparkling AT-100 tone! Great tutorial, thanks.
Rc3 is by far for me the best looper I've tried shed loads of functionality, reasonably priced, doesn't take up a lot of room and excellent audio quality
Thank you for this - been underutilizing this pedal for years
This was so helpful I just bought one RC-3 . Thanks very much.
Thankyou for explaining how to get to RP mode!! Was really confused and struggling with this when I first got my hands on this pedal
Great, plain-language demo... very Very much appreciated.
Great presentation guys proper informative for a newbie to loop stations,,,,, need to afford one now lol,,, all the best guys!!!.
Thank you guys a ton for making this, been struggling with this pedal
me too, still lookig for tutorials
I appreciate that they answered my main question (recording modes) right away.
Thank you, your video was very helpful. I am tying to decide between the RC-1 and RC-3. I think you sold me on the RC-3. I'm just an amateur basement guitar player.
Your choice of chords and your improvision over it ... was Magical it lifted my mind like a bird's eye view over the springtime Valley. 😊
You nailed it, much appreciated Thanks for posting
First tip was exactly what I needed to know! Thanks
One of the best things I've ever brought.
Thanks, much easier than trying to read the manual.
The first thing you guys discussed answered my question.
Excellent Demo! Thanks for posting!
Never knew about the rD rP or the hold to switch last over dub on/off functions, thanks for sharing!
This was a very helpful video, thank you.
Was watching for the info... But man... I really love that little tune you threw down!
I have an RC-3 but I only use it occasionally and I always always forget how to use it. I ended buying a really cheap looper by Lekato that was easier to use. But I am going to to use the RC-3 more often now because it certainly has a lot of features.
Just bought my first loop and going to recording studio on Sunday going to be fun
Brilliant, many thanks lads. Great tutorial.
This so much help for me i got one n im new to it thank you guys n thank you Boss RC3
Very well done. Thank you!
Nice video. Thankyou. I am still using a cassette recorder and boom box to playback. So ancient
I've owned this pedal for several years and I still stand behind it as an extremely useful tool for practice. With a little patience and a little tinkering, one can figure this thing out rather easily. It's way more fun to practice over your own playing versus playing with a pre-made generic track or backing tracks. Get the Fs-5 external foot switch for maximum playability.
Can I ask what you most use the external pedal for? Is it just convenience (such as avoiding the double tap to stop) or do you gain extra features?
@@waynelock2951 basically convenience. No extra features. It works best for setting your tempo. Just tap your foot on the foot switch to set tempo. Also makes it easier and quicker to delete unwanted loop attempts, and also to stop the loop altogether. Makes the loop pedal a little more "hands free" I suppose.
@@JakelikejakefromSF4936 thanks for the swift reply. Been considering getting one so this helps.
very usefull chaps, this is the looper for me, thank you
I am curious what happens with a song that has more than four or five chords, take for example "Music to Watch Girls By" Do I have to do the entire background first? I generally just add notes and chords where I need them to fill the sound. Thanks, Paul
Thank you for this tip! I found it helpful ONE YEAR later!
thank christ for that ,, i have the rc30 was worried it would not do the same ,, the nightmare ive had over the years playing wish you were here , and trying to double tap quick lol , before going into the lead , i mean the lead goes straight in , really hard ,, all i can say is thanks and PHEW ,, i might do a vid on how to do this with the rc30 as there is a really good RC30 tuition video ,, i saked them , they said id have to get external extra pedals ( well thats rubbish as your way has worked with my rc30) thanks very much indeed
Great job guys, thanks!
Thanks so much. Just got one. It's great!
THANK YOU GUYS VERY VERY MUCH FOR UPLOAD THIS VIDEO
Great pedal and amazing playing🖒🖒🖒
Great demo ☝️💕
Well was put of by its being tiny but it seems pretty great for doing bass, rythm and lead all together then might have to pop one in my cart
Thank you so much for sharing, as people mention below changing from rd to to is invaluable. I’ve just bought this for my daughter and she really likes the demo here, any chance someone could share the chords at the beginning and what scale the lick is based around or what the tab is for this please ? Thank you so much for explaining how to use.
Exellent review.
Bought this yesterday. So easy to use . Love it
sekon2008ify really. I may try one but don’t want anything frustrating.good luck
Killer video, thx mate for the tips
I can’t believe I have been somewhat intimidated by this fine piece of technology. I think I’m finally gonna go get this thing. Thank you for sharing this awesome clip of information!!!!
what chords are you playing in the the first layer? This is really pretty
I have had this rc 3 pedal for like 5 years and never knew i could change it to not auto over dub🤯
Chris Busby ....hidden away in a small paragraph on page 19.....
Can you play the Boss RC-3 through the send and return on a BossGt6. Listen on headphones and jam/ practice along with guitar.
Thanks
I have just got a red fox multi effect pedal like the one you have shown . I cannot get the loop to work although the other three work , I have connected the send and return from the pedal to the studio 100glx amp and the output to the amp from the pedal with no success. Please tell me What am I doing wrong as I want to overdub badly
I love this video. So easy to understand. You just made my day. Do you have a tutorial on the RC 300? I bought it but then returned it because it was such a big learning curve. I couldn't find anything out there that wasn't some guitar players simply jamming with it. They didn't take the time to show you step by step like this.
Hi, that is the 300 in the video! Do you mean the 30?
madjack mcmad it’s the rc3 in the video
That was pretty handy. Cheers.
Love the tip on using it as a recording device also. So simple and useful
Thanks for the info. Can you plug a bass into it as well to add another instrument?
Thanks for the run down. Seems like the pest single pedal looper around.
I'm shopping for my first pedal and this pedal seems great but I'm a little worried about the fact you have to double tap to stop. Some pedals have a dedicated stop button is learning to double tap in time as hard as it sounds?
For a long time I gave up on the RC-3 .. until you just showed me what I was doing wrong. I was set to overdub mode by default. No wonder it made no sense to me! Manual is crap too. Thanks for this!!
In the manual on page 19..."Other settings"...Chaging the Switching Order.....R-O-P in R-P-O...
@@larsimi9049 Oh well that clears everything up, cheers!
For the love of all that is good thank you for making this
Cool pedal and good review 😍
What boss pedal will give me 2 or more separate loops, that can be recorded from stereo or computer. Vocals.
I got problems to find the exactly moment to push the pedal at the end of the base... Every time i got a space ir silence at the end of the loop
Once you gone from loop to overdub to play, can you go back to the overdub to add more to it and then back to play?
Mark Harley, I love the tone of your guitar... can you share what FX you are using??? Is that a bit of chorus with some light overdrive or distortion?
Thanks i have the rc30 with 2 pedals ,, do I do the same with this pedal for record and play , koz press to start but I have to double press not to overdub ,, a right pain
Very helpful thanks!!
NO...the FISRT thing you need to know that is that you have to PLUG IT IN TO TURN IT ON. I’ve had so many people call me saying “this thing doesn’t work’. So notice that Output A says “power on” right above it, obvious to anyone who was looking (no one), and especially not if it’s your first pedal or looper. So plug in to Output A to turn it on. Anyway, other than that it’s a great tool, and thanks Reidys for a great job !!! !
At I:35 he mentions this !!!! Woohoooo
the user manual for the RC-3 should just have a link to this video!! Thank you for this 👍
Can this be used with any instrument like a ukulele
i notice some guitar cables won't start the looper at reasonable volume . Is there a difference in cables . which do I need.
Top work chaps
Real cool!
My band and I found this little pedal so useful that we have a song named after it. (Red Pedal #5). I destroyed it gigging (RC2) so I’m replacing it tomorrow.
Hey, for some reason my looper pedal is only recording 1 bar. How do I fix that and make it longer?
Ok I saved a loop, held write, but how do I play it again? If I go back to track 1 it just overwrites it and start recording again?
Thanks guys!
I want one and I don't even have a guitar
I have one, and it's so complicated I can't use the thing. I'll watch this, I guess ...
I'm a drummer/percussionist and bought one 😂
@@Tonetwisters they're really not that hard to use bro, just keep it simple to start, even just try a 'chukka chukka' palm muting to get a rhythm going. Practice dude!
Timing timing timing
Can anyone answer this please? If not using looper pedal and just want to play my acoustic electric guitar through my amp should I disconnect pedal even if it's off or does that not matter. Thank you in advance.
Can I plug my bass as well as my Korg into it at the same time?
Bellissimo video! Grazie!
Very helpful!!
Awesome super helpful!!
Can you record a clean loop and play over it distorted or visa versa?
Thank you.
I would like to know how to permanently turn off the metronome because when I use the beat buddy, the rc-3 tempo can't be turned off
I know how to use the damn thing and have used it through my SS Fender Princeton Chorus amp with no issues! My problem is, when I record an acoustic rhythm on the pedal in the clean channel of my Marshall JCM 2000, TSL100 and go to play lead over the top of it through the crunch channel (2), the clean recording gets distorted. What am I doing wrong, here???
does it work for pianos?
This video is GOLD. I got a question though: between the loops there is like a three seconds pause, can I get rid of it to have like a non-stop, continuous loop? Thanks a lot guys.
Check the comment made by R Bross about upgrading the firmware. The issue you're describing sounds exactly like what he mentioned too.
Go to minute 3:30 he explains how to get around that problem you're having. 👍
What chords are they?
