A looper is the single most useful guitar pedal I've ever owned. I've learned more jamming to a loop pedal over the last 4 years than I learned in the previous 10 without one.
For me ,this is showing WHAT a looper can do . Not How to use it . I’d like to get better at switching it in and out perfectly. And lessons/good practices on this would be superb . Love your channel.
I'm self-taught & somehow I never got around to using a pick - it's good to see somebody else playing without ! I tried to use a pick a few years ago but it's just not in me .
I have two Boss Loop Stations,One I got on sale and one that was given to me.Was able to create and practice so much with it to the point where people couldn't believe It.I don't own a bass so I play guitar through a cheap Danelctro octave pedal to simulate bass and you would never know.Every guitarist should own one. You could easily do a one man show live with it.
Have a RC-2.... looping is a whole skill into itself... nailing the timing is exercise #1... maddening... but... practice makes perfect... I'm getting there. Enjoy your stuff.
Really helpful lesson, Rick. Have you ever done or would you consider doing a video of Wah pedal techniques a la the Temps eg, Cloud Nine, Papa Was A Rolling Stone, etc?
I on the market for a loop pedal and I ran into this video by TastyGuitar. He is a very good instructor with clear steps and not like others who just riff through the guitar...This instructional video real works for me. Thanks TastyGuitar. A question for Rick: Some loop pedals have drum kits/rhythm functions. As a beginner on loop pedal (but not beginner on guitar playing). Should I get a loop pedal with drum/rhytm options? Thanks. David
Loopers, never in a month of Sundays can I get the hang of them. Listening to these results tho Rick is encouraging me to give it a years worth of Sundays to get it down!
As always, thank you! I wish I could give back to you in some small way, but I can't. All I can do is to humbly say, Thank you! Your musical sensibilities are wonderful! One of your little licks just made smile, and I thought to myself, "he's so fuckin' smart!" Lol! Seriously, you are a gem!!! ✌
Interesting. Yesterday I saw an other guy showing what you can do with a loop pedal. Funny thing, he had the same pedal as you. It's one of the cheaper ones but you can do so much with it. Edit: This will probably be the next thing I buy to my guitar.
Great demo Rick, thank you so much. What do you use the external foot switch for that’s connected to your RC 3 ? Obviously it’s for changing something while you’re playing but what? Thanks for a reply if possible. I have just got an RC 3 this week. 🌌🌅🌠👍🏻
@@TastyGuitarcom I actually own 5 of them. The thing I've been trying to figure out is setting the tempo. But I did find a tutorial on it. But in the tutorial, it has an audible beat. I need to find a tutorial that has one that shows how to set it up with just the light blinking to the tempo. By the way, they're great pedals. And you're a great guitarist man. I watch your videos quite a bit. I've been playing many years, and I've learned to learn as much as I can from every guitarist I hear. I've learned different styles, and I like playing and using jazz chords, walk ups and downs, and really just too much to mention. Thanks for getting back at me. It's greatly appreciated. I really dig your work, playing and tutorials. Perhaps we'll talk again.
I find the difficult part is clicking it on and off at exactly the right moment!!It would have been good to include that in the video!!Butt thanks so much for the video!
If you're not tapping your foot when you play already your body is not locked in to time. If you can tap your foot in time on the quarter notes you can loop in time, it's the same thing, record on 1, loop on the next 1. If you have trouble doing that it's a time issue and you need to work with a metronome to improve your time.
A well-packaged lesson all in less than 8 mins. Outstanding!
thank you sonicbridge!
This is super helpful, Rick. And those riffs you bust out at the end are dope.

so true!
and you don't have to patiently play w friends who aren't that great at gtr, mangling 12 bar blues after a few wines, pulling "getting into it" faces
Me too.

Love your channel.
By far the best guitar channel on RUclips...Thanks For All You Do !!!!
Thank you Patrick!
Thanks my brother got a good groove going'
This exactly what I was looking for. You really teach how to use the looper! Thanks!
Glad to help
This Video Title is like when you buy a boxed item... Only to find that there is so much more great free goodies inside. Priceless lesson.

that solo at the end was smooth! thanks for the tip
Thank you, glad you dig the solo!
You and your channel are an incredible resource. Thank you for posting.

Glad it helped!

so true, such a great practice tool yet a lot of guitarists struggle to make simple loops to practice with, hopefully this will help
Excellent- intro to loops - time to take out my RC30 now ... many thanks
Thanks!

cool, keep with it and you'll get there
I wish I had a loop pedal in college back in the late 70’s - early 80’s!
man, me too, what a great practice tool!
Great work and tremendous playing and teaching....the whole box and dice! 🙏
Thank you Tom!
Gosh Rick, you make tapping in look (and sound) so easy! Great vid as always mate, thanks so much.
Thanks Mark, I've had some live looping disasters believe me haha
TastyGuitar.com Actually that makes me feel a little better! Maybe I'll give it another try. Cheers mate.
Really helpful lesson, Rick. Have you ever done or would you consider doing a video of Wah pedal techniques a la the Temps eg, Cloud Nine, Papa Was A Rolling Stone, etc?
Thanks Rich, but nah, I very rarely use a wah pedal and there are already plenty of other vids on the subject
One ur best lessons

Yes I recommend getting a looper with at least a built in metronome to help keep you in time
Very good tutorial. Thank you!
I used to believe that the first thing to lay down was the back beat.
You could certainly do it in that order as well
Damn that sounds good! I don't have a looper pedal but I do this kind of thing on my DAW.
yeah, using a DAW works, but takes a bit of the fun out of it ;)
Loopers, never in a month of Sundays can I get the hang of them. Listening to these results tho Rick is encouraging me to give it a years worth of Sundays to get it down!
timing is everything, having one with a built in metronome or drum machine helps alot
Very nice, thank you Tasty
Thanks for watching!
Great I like it
Great video
Immensely helpful.
So cool, I just bought an amp with a built in looper but had no idea what to do😁😁😁👍
right on, hope this helps
This is great! Thanks:)
thank you for watching!
man, tasty playing at the end

You are one funky dude! "Subscribed"
Thank you! Welcome to the channel
GREAT
Thank you!
And once again, very tasty.
Thank you!
Great lesson Rick, thankyou. Is the hi-hat sound coming from the looper pedal ?
Thanks! Yes, this boss RC-3 has a built in hi hat metronome, though it's just tap tempo

Thanks! The external pedal is acting as a stop button because without it you need to stomp on the pedal twice to stop playback
@@TastyGuitarcom Ah! Thank you. 🌌🌅🌠👍🏻

I have a Boss Rc-3 Looper .
I need so much help on how
to use it can you make a
Video on how to use it
Think you so much

Its easy.
So helpful. Thanks.
right on, than you for watching!
What about a lesson with Digitechs JamMan Solo loopers?
Sorry I don't own one

thanks David, sorry I can't help with this, but I'm glad to hear you are learning with my channel :)
Hi,what cords do I need, and how do we connect them
normal 1/4" guitar cables, looper will usually be last thing in your effects chain
I find the difficult part is clicking it on and off at exactly the right moment!!It would have been good to include that in the video!!Butt thanks so much for the video!

Do you practice in cleats? That looper looks like it has taken a beating. 😂 great video! Thanks.
If you don't have timing to manage a looper, how do you have timing to play guitar???
Bite sized....cause that’s all I can eat at a time anyway....lol
The looper is way out of reach to me and more of a pipe dream though very essential especially to a lone guitar player.
Thanks for not explaining anything about the pedal. That’s why I clicked on this. False advertising.
Just buy an amp with a looper built in.
