I watched 20 different videos about this pedal today after I picked up this pedal. They all show some basics but I had to watch 20 videos to learn about half of what the pedal can do. I really wish I saw yours first because not one video covered everything about it. Yours was the first video I saw that showed how to switch to the auto mode. Thank you thank you thank you.
The BEST review and demo I have seen on RUclips for the Boss RC3. I have a JamMan Stereo Solo XT that has been playing up in auto record mode. It only kicks into record when i attack the strings and play hard. So looking for a new toy and been eyeing the Boss RC3 looper. Im sold now. No showing off or running throgh just a few features. This was a ripper instructional video that highlighted the features. Well done and what a shame your hits aren't higher. Many groovy thanks mate.
I agree with other comments, this is the best explanation of how to use the RC3. It provides important details which are not on other tutorials, and not always in the manual either - many of which can result in serious obstacles until you learn them - and I did, finally, learn them thanks to Reid.
Thanks. Does the inner thinner volume control knob allow you control the guitar volume such as a lead guitar and the outer fatter volume allow you control the volume of your rhythm guitar?
Thank you so much , probably the best demo of a Boss product I’ve come across in the last five years , very clearly described, relaxed , to the point critical , relevant info ! Way better , more useful than any manual imho !
Best video on RC 3 on youtube just after watching 2 mins on the video i could tell. i paused the video to give a comment. keep more reviews coming. the way you do it beyond perfect.
I watch a lot of demos on pedals and stuff and I just wanna say I love this , with the breakdown on how it works, etc… thank you for the in depth review
You are absolutely hands down the master of simply explaining how to make the RC 3 work and enjoy what’s recorded. TY so much for the tutorial. T. bird.🎸🦅
I got my pedal yesterday and the guy was so generous he threw in around ten mini to medium cables including 2 custom fender ones for free, the pedal he sold for 90 euros.I have a looper on my Axe fx 2 bit it is limited to only 30 seconds.I had an RC2 years ago and sold it since the Axe fx2 had one, I regret selling it.BUT. This RC3 is a great pedal which gives me a lot of inspiration for creating more loops. And this video covers everything about it, I will use everything except for the 'one shot'. Thanks a lot.
Finally a video to REALLY show how it works. Going to dust min eoff, and really get into it this winter (2024) I want to use it busking to add to what I do, but it does so much, I didn't find it easy to get it going. I will hook it up then re-watch and takes the steps along with you. Thanks!
I know I am four years late to the party, but this was a great tutorial. I bought this pedal. I predominantly play acoustic, this is great for doing solo gigs I can lay down some rhythm, and then add some lead, some arpeggios, on top of vocals.
Just got this pedal and *frantically* looked for an overview of the use and functionality. Wasted a lot of time browsing through useless beginner tutorials.. But this one WOW👍👌 to the point... A million thanks.
Greetings from Norway! I just enjoyed this video - and finally everything about this pedal was in depth explained - so great for a fresh beginner. Time saving and in a pleasant "tap tempo",. So thank you!
Great lesson on this system, the best I've seen so far for sure. I just started getting into one of these and It's really fun and appreciate the super tips on combing tracks Thanks!
great in depth review: most people who buy this have no clue how to do a simple loop. Never mind the incredible features. My suggestion, simply make a clear concise simple loop. I am grateful for the education.
I've wanted one for a long time and finally caved on a used one. It should be a lot of fun when it arrives. I can think of a lot of various ways to use it.
All this time and all the loops I've made with this pedal and I never knew about half the stuff you mentioned, especially the auto record which is gonna make things a lot easier \m/ I wasn't reading the manual it came with... That thing is the size of a pocket bible lol Best review on RUclips!
Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you. I've seen a few instructional videos and they talk fast and move on and their fingers are covering up what they're doing on the pedal and in the end you just think you're gonna go mad. This was so clear and so well paced and so well reinforced. And now I'm gonna hit the Subscribe button.
Just a note to say how much I appreciated your video. Loved the way you showed all the features of the pedal. I've just bought one today and now I feel like I just about get away with not reading the manual. The manual is so small too that I can't really read it, so resorted to downloading a PDF version. The Boss site is pretty good too and it's great to be able to transfer backing tracks or rhythm tracks to the memory slots (appear as folders when connected to your PC). Lots of free content to fill up some of those slots with and I guess you could put your own stuff in there to play along with as long as the files are in .wav format.
Hey man, can you answer a question I have? Can you please tell me if when we transfer our recordings to the computer, is it normal that the pedal drum beats, which we use in these recordings, are not transferred to the computer? I mean, I end up just having my guitars and/or basses with no rhythm/beat on my computer savings. It's normal or is just another anormally that my old pedal have?
The thing I like about it the best is, if you have a semi-acoustic guitar, with this pedal you basically have an unlimited band, if you know what you're doing. The versatility of the semi-acoustic guitar, for percussion, if it has a mic fitted, which is essential, you can definitely make enough sounds to sound like a band. All that just layering on one channel makes this looper pretty formidable and crucial for making new music on the fly.
Great review / tutorial. Maybe could've also made more of the fact you can upload professional backing tracks to the various slots via the USB.... and they can be used to play along to for practice or for gigs. You can also back up any loops or saved pattern to a file on your computer - which is useful.
This was very informative and organized. My 70 year old brain is still spinning. Thanks for a good video. Also auto mode is brilliant because on playback it starts immediately upon pushing the pedal.
One thing I have done which you didn’t cover is the connectivity to a computer and the ability to drop audio files directly into the memory slots. I have done this for some backing tracks. I didn’t know about the one shot though so I’ll re-write them with one shot switched on.

Great video! So when i was watching ur vid, i couldnt get the rhythm to start at the same time as my playing, it wouldnt trigger the device. When i pressed Write, it showed DL, then i pressed tempo and it triggered it. I didnt see u do it that way in the video though. When i tried the way u showed it on the video it wouldnt trigger but it would play the rhythm etc.. I got to it to work my way, but whats the offical way, or did u do it my way off camera ?
Hi, I just got one of these. When I press the tap tempo button the drum speed doesn't change. What am I doing wrong? Also, when I record a phrase/loop the recorded phrase starts playing back while I'm recording it! What am I doing wrong? Hope someone can help. Great looper...
@@tasosa.4895 Hi, I still don't know why it does that. But I've found it happens when I try n delete the part I've recorded to start again. So I delete the whole track instead and start again. Hoping to find the cause eventually... How about you?
The one-shot mode thing at 8:25 is gold. So, this is to say that I could build a loop of, say, a blues, copy it to a 2nd memory location, make the first one a one-shot, keep the 2nd one to solo over in loop mode, and then go back to the one-shot for an ending? Or maybe do a third loop with an ending and make it a one-shot? The middle loop will repeat until I tell it to change to another loop? I was under the impression that there was a bug that put a a short silence between one loop and the next that made this impossible.
Thanks for your comment! Yes your scenario should work. I'm not aware of a bug that inserts silence. Sometime they address bugs through updated firmware though.

I absolutely agree!
Came here to say exact same thing! Quality video 👌
You go over many features in an easy to understand way that no one else even goes over. GREAT Tutorial!

Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it.
If you haven’t gotten it yet, totally do man. I’ve had it for about a year, it’s helped me write and make some insane love loops for gigs.
Very exhaustif, complete & calm explanation, putting the emphasis on the pedal and not on the performance of the guitar playing. Thank you.

This video is the best I’ve watched on the subject. I’ve owned this for like 8 years and never really learned out to use it
Many years later and this is the best video I could find on the RC3. Thanks a lot. I just got one today.
Omg. Have this pedal for ten years. And today finally find out how many functions and how to use properly. Thanks. Big thanks
Ha! I feel better about having it 3 years and knowing all of this. But now we know.
Thanks. Does the inner thinner volume control knob allow you control the guitar volume such as a lead guitar and the outer fatter volume allow you control the volume of your rhythm guitar?
@@stephenmcintire6081 Two years here, but the same!
Now THIS is how reviews should be done. Got my pedal an hour ago and haven't touched the manual yet.

7:00 minutes "RP" is awesome. I hated the fact that I had to press 2x just to hear it back and not overdub. Thank you man!!!

Is there a way to ‘one click’ pedal to stop the recording? Thanks
In RP mode what determines, after ending a recording and saving, if one more press will do playback that I want, rather than erasing my ‘phrase’ ?
Excellent video
