  • This is something that's been bothering us for MONTHS and we finally had some spare time to start working on it! We have A LOT more to go, but this was a good start. We're still bummed about the bonfire :(

Such satisfying work! We just did some property clean up today too
Also, a tip for starting the saw when standing, and maybe this is common knowledge already but I didn’t know… throw the saw away from you/down while holding the pull cord. Make sure the break is on first. I just figured it out from watching Greg 😅

It sure is! Ohhhh! Great tip! I’ll have to give that a try next time 🙌🏼. Thank you!

Great video, that's a lot of work cutting up that huge tree. But in the spring time and summer you'll appreciate the time you took to clean up that area. I've seen people use diesel fuel to start wet wood fires, the key is to build up a nice hot bed of coals.

It sure was - definitely looking forward to having the woods picked up. I feel like we went backward after this weekend’s project 🤪 It’s a mess out there! Stay tuned for that video!

@@thehomesteadingrd It takes time to clean stuff up specially if you have lots of acreage like y'all do. But you will get there. Looking forward to more great videos!

Lots of work getting done. One tip for the brush pile is to try and stack it in one direction and compact it with the skid steer as much as possible. As for the chainsaw, try to keep the arm on the handle locked straight. This will help if the tip of the bar hits something and it try’s to kick back on you. God bless

Just watched a RUclips clip by a Forrester. He burns/starts his piles from the top down! Short story is the fire burns better and it also dries out the pile better. Just keep pushing the pile into the center.
I'm going to give it a try myself shortly 🤠

Good job. For next time, do the cutting first, make a path on your side only (the left), mark the log as you go. Let the saw rest on your right knee and on the log, use your knee to move the chainsaw (try to lift as little with your arms as possible). On the way back, you start cutting. And when all is cut, you can take off the helmet and do the carrying. You never want to get tired from using the chainsaw, try to rest it on the log as much as possible (slide it on the log), try not to carry it around to much. It's like a gun, use sparingly, because, accidents/misstakes happen when you are tired unfocused. Good choice to rest

Wow, I am impressed! You took on the chainsaw! 💪💪 I would have definitely opted for the skid steer :)

We looked at a chipper 2 weeks ago but despite being a fairly large “backyard model” it was wayyyy too slow. We’d have to get a commercial model to make to worth it, but those are thousands of dollars 😩. Maybe someday!

Yeah! I started electric, then got a gas powered one. Good enough for 40 acres for now. I'll build one.❤✌
