I think it doesn’t start out like that but owners fall on hard times get very sick themselves, then they like the resources of how to get help. I’ve always taken care of my animals, but I’ve known many people who fell on hard times they end, or the animal were sick. They did not have the ability to meet their needs and they also didn’t know where to turn to for help, if you have ever tried to help somebody rehome it even a dog or a cat the shelters the only places that will take them and they won’t commit to a rehoming, so how does it happen? It happens one day one week at a time and they don’t see the difference because each day doesn’t look that much further but then you walk in and you’re like holy cow. This is a nightmare scenario, we have so few resources for people if you don’t have support if you fall on hard times this is horrible and should never happen but I don’t think that anybody planned to do this. We need to offer people options and alternatives. There is barely an option for people to surrender their own infants when they are in the most dire of situations this is sad I’m very grateful the people in the video were able to step up but when we shred our social safety nets people have no more resources and then they hate them selves and it becomes harder and harder to look the animals, they care for in the eye, and that just leads to more neglect, but vilifying of the person who neglected this without keeping in mind the system that gave them no alternatives doesn’t prevent it from happening again strengthening social safety, nuts, and helping people with options when they are no longer able to care for their animals their children or even themselves this is what is needed. .

Most people who do this are overwhelmed by the ability to care for their animals. My youngest daughter works in the Department of Aging Services for the county where we live. She often has clients with animals they cannot care for, or are animal hoarders. It is sad. I agree it is horrible that this happens, especially for the animals. But, the causes are usually deeper than just being bad people.

So sad this happend more than you know, thank you for saving him. My wife and I rescued a 20 year old mare quarter horse several years back, nursed her back to health, she was about 250-300 lbs or more under weight skin & bones and sick from mal nutrition, they were feeding her bedding straw!! after calling the vet and farrier and much work she came back beautiful! Then we found her a forever home, we were so happy for her!

People do it through total ignorance. When my neighbour was alive he had two horses that he never fed. They lived on the same old patch for years. So thin. People reported him to the RSPCA but he was never punished. One horse died. Then when my neighbour died his children asked if I wanted the other horse. She was in a similar situation to this horse. She was checked by a vet. There was absolutely nothing wrong with her. I fed her up slowly and within a couple of moths she was absolutely gleaming. She has a good retirement now and she is with my little herd of misfits, surrounded by love, and a good feed twice a day. ❤

I've seen rescue videos dozens of times and each time I'm always amazed by the resilience these animals have. They're fighters, they never give up and are forgiving. They can love and trust again no matter how awful they were treated. I'm always in awe. The way the world is today I'd much rather share my space with animals than humans. 😮❤

I would not be able to help myself from taking out someone who did this to another living being. She said "" they"" werent feeding him. So more than one individual was responsible for that innocent magnificent creature's suffering. How bout we have a meeting with them,, their asses meeting my foot. This makes me so angry. But we let 36,000 of our children die every single day of starvation so I guess it's not surprising that we also let beasts of burden supper so either. Not a proud moment for humanity

He is the first thing they think of in the morning and the last thing at night. They no doubt slept in the barn with him at night and checked on him all night long. The vet bills and food are astronomical. These people are amazing! One last thing. One phone call and you can surrender any animal that you can't care for properly. .
He knew you come to help him. He knew he had to muster his last strength to get on that trailer. He knew he had to show he wanted to live and he did it, because of the love, care and hope you gave him. Bless you for giving horses love and hope.❤❤

Such a close call! Why do people do that to animals? I just melted when I saw him flop down with a mouth of food. He looked so relieved and happy, like he could see the point of living again. Glad he had the strength to pull through.

I can't imagine someone who acquires a horse but decides not to feed him/her!! Obviously, it's someone who doesn't consider that it matters how an animal is feeling (or perhaps doesn't even think that he/she can feel. I'd love to put that person in the same situation - to be under the power of someone who doesn't care if she/he lives or dies.

Some are better physically suited for certain tasks. It's been shown that many, not ALL, horses enjoy their work. I've even seen horses been down to allow for a bareback rider to mount. I just found that was interesting an thought I'd share. 🙂
That horse was down to about 10% of his 'life' left, IF that. Once he felt real love, & was eating oats, etc., he KNEW he still had a drop or two of his 'fuel' left in his 'gas tank.' And, if you've ever seen a person do this exact thing, you know, without a doubt, you've witnessed a REAL miracle. He is so, so majestic, handsome, & regal looking! ❤❤❤

We rescued a horse like this. Someone pushed her through a piece of fence we had down in the middle of the nite. My equine vet burst into tears when she saw her. Idk if you guys know this but in California we are responsible for the state an animal is in even if we didn’t do it and are trying to rescue them. Luckily all the neighbors on the road were behind us and we put 400 lbs on her the right way
What a great outcome! Not sure what you mean though, as in you could be charged with abuse for the animal’s condition when it arrived, even if you are rehabilitating it? That seems like a crazy law.

I see a horse in that condition and I think, humanity is seriously in trouble. But, then after he gets rescued by an amazing person, humanity is alive and well.

I would not be able to help myself from taking out someone who did this to another living being. She said "" they"" werent feeding him. So more than one individual was responsible for that innocent magnificent creature's suffering. How bout we have a meeting with them,, their asses meeting my foot. This makes me so angry. But we let 36,000 of our children die every single day of starvation so I guess it's not surprising that we also let beasts of burden supper so either. Not a proud moment for humanity
Animals are miracles. If an animal depends on you, please don't let him/her down. That horse and the people who saved him are God's children. The people who neglected him deserve whatever troubles come to them.

❤Thank you so much for helping to save this beauty. The people who saved him will never tell you about the love, sweat, tears and attention it takes to help a horse who is hours from death. He is the first thing they think of in the morning and the last thing at night. They no doubt slept in the barn with him at night and checked on him all night long. The vet bills and food are astronomical. These people are amazing! One last thing. One phone call and you can surrender any animal that you can't care for properly.

Such a close call! Why do people do that to animals? I just melted when I saw him flop down with a mouth of food. He looked so relieved and happy, like he could see the point of living again. Glad he had the strength to pull through.

I can't imagine someone who acquires a horse but decides not to feed him/her!! Obviously, it's someone who doesn't consider that it matters how an animal is feeling (or perhaps doesn't even think that he/she can feel. I'd love to put that person in the same situation - to be under the power of someone who doesn't care if she/he lives or dies.

How could they do that ! It’s because they can’t talk doesn’t mean that they don’t have feelings. I never go to a zoo because I don’t like animals in a cage or in an environment that it’s not their natural habitat. When I went to Sri Lanka , I walked than riding a cart with a buffallo pulling me.

Some are better physically suited for certain tasks. It's been shown that many, not ALL, horses enjoy their work. I've even seen horses been down to allow for a bareback rider to mount. I just found that was interesting an thought I'd share. 🙂

That horse was down to about 10% of his 'life' left, IF that. Once he felt real love, & was eating oats, etc., he KNEW he still had a drop or two of his 'fuel' left in his 'gas tank.' And, if you've ever seen a person do
this exact thing, you know, without a doubt, you've witnessed a REAL miracle. He is so, so majestic, handsome, & regal looking! ❤❤❤

We rescued a horse like this. Someone pushed her through a piece of fence we had down in the middle of the nite. My equine vet burst into tears when she saw her. Idk if you guys know this but in California we are responsible for the state an animal is in even if we didn’t do it and are trying to rescue them. Luckily all the neighbors on the road were behind us and we put 400 lbs on her the right way
What a great outcome! Not sure what you mean though, as in you could be charged with abuse for the animal’s condition when it arrived, even if you are rehabilitating it? That seems like a crazy law.
