I saw the same thing with two half brothers. They were born a day apart and brought up together. I bought the younger one and he never settled. If he saw a grey horse he would always call to it. Then four years later I bought his brother. As I led him from the trailer he saw his brother in the field and he got away from me and jumped the gate still wearing his travelling boots. They squealed with delight and nuzzled together. Don't let anyone tell you animals don't remember or that they don't feel love, because they do.

they are so beautiful. but also, humans are animals. we belong to the Mammalia taxa and are primates, specifically great African apes, with our closest living relative being pan troglodytes, the chimpanzee. i think that a lot of people separating humans and animals leads to animals being seen as "lesser than" humans. not saying youre doing that at all, but some people feel that way. when in reality, we are just another type of animal.

"Dumb" means that they can't speak. It's a very, very old way of speaking of domesticated animals. It doesn't mean "stupid", altho any person you heard use the words may have THOUGHT that it means 'stupid'. Originally, it didn't mean that. Of course animals can vocalize, and have a variety of vocalizations or calls, but those are not speech.
although i wouldnt say dumb. working with these animals for 4 years now you tend to notice they arent too bright either.
Ironically it's most probable that those who've said such things are the dumb beasts.
In the wild their really smart but captivity dumbs them down just as it does every other animal

This had me tearing up. It's so sad that these bonds between animals get so easily ripped apart by us. God bless you and everyone else who appreciates these animals for the individuals that they are. And I hope everyone will apply this same sentiment to all animals- especially the dog rescue stories we see on here where dog friends and siblings are separated because some behavior specialist or blah blah said it would be best when they get fostered/ adopted. That's something that's always broken my heart and made me feel like a negative Nancy when watching some of your dog videos.
Not sure exactly what you mean about dogs, however our little dog was abandoned and collected by a pound. He was destined for death if not rehomed. Thankfully a foster carer drove 5 hours return to collect him and then help him find a home. Which is ours. We drove 20 hours return to collect him. He’s been with us three years as of yesterday and when I look into his eyes and think of his past and what he’s been through, it makes me sad. I’m just glad we could save his life and give him endless love.

Many years ago my 8 year old quarter horse gelding had a cougar after him! She was a 24 year old off-the-track thoroughbred who was blind! She hung out with him exclusively, even though there were numerous horses at that stable. It was very sweet.

why? it is putting human emotions on a HORSE. Lady, that male was not big enough to mate. You do realize that once a young male horse reaches maturity the mature stallion kicks him out, right? He is forced to leave his "family" by horses, not humans. If He is generally then not allowed back in the pack. Also that male if he is banging that female, is doing it to all the tail he can get. Those who "love" animals the most supposedly know the least about them. Also she bought a bunch of male horses. News flash, when they reach maturity, she is going to have some serious problems. A herd that size should only have one or two none castrated male and not be allowed to breed with the offsprings. At the age of the horses, I doubt she has the ability to castrate them before they start causing problems. Furthermore, male horses are a lot to take care of. Way more than a female horse. I hope she has fun cleaning out all the p ps

You do realize he would normally have a doz females that would abandon him the second a younger stronger male came along. You can spin this to be warm and fuzzy but in the real world where he and her were actually free this relationship would be short-lived!

@@deannelson9565 not quite. A rival stallion who bet him may have taken over his herd that is true. But he may not have. Mares don't usually just abandon their stallions, they get claimed by a stronger stallion. And that doesn't necessarily mean that they don't miss their old stallion to an extent or that he won't miss them. But it's natures way and true that they probably would have moved on and he would possibly have claimed other mares. But no one can say for sure if they would still miss each other or not in any way because we're not the horses after all and we don't know what they think or feel.

A. a stallion only has the females as long as he maintains his dominance.
B. The second he looses that position the mares move on.

@@deannelson9565 not really because my point is, we don't know if they mares move on or not. People get up after losing others, they work, they keep going, doesn't mean they've moved on. My entire point is that you are right but with the exception of one thing, I can't really say if they feel anything, but neither can you say that they don't. Because truthfully, we don't know. We can only try to guess based off what we see. And even then different people see different things. I didn't argue they did have emotions. I just stated that no one could say whether they did or didn't.

@@1456Sassyfacepalm plants don't care about their family they're actually in constant competition for nutrients that's why when nutrients are low their roots try to choke the roots of other plants to get ahead of them in getting what it needs to survive.
Plants are brutal to eachother when fighting for survival is at its peak. They don't care it they're related or not
