He may not want to go back in times he has his own life and wife’s now. I guess it’s more like he want to protect him from the hostile things he has seen around particularly at night.
If my dad dropped me in the jungle as a kid and reappeared 5 years later I'd be pretty stoked to see him too. Love that there's no resentment or distancing to protect himself, just joy and trust that whatever happened it wasn't his dad's fault.

You can never compare a wild animal with an animal who you looked after, fed and raised. He still a wild animal, but that bond is like a secret language that only them two understand. 😭😭
Interspecies connections are at times, incredibly strong bonds. So glad they were able to reunite and to ensure that their bond still existed. A wonderful day for both of them to connect once again.
And some people think primates have no emotions, not only did he remember his friend but wasn’t shy in letting him know that he had missed him, lovely reunion
I’v never heard of anyone that doesn’t think that primates have emotions. We are primates and we have emotions, so I am not sure why anyone would think that.
Hugging is a sign of possession among gorillas. By hugging Damien, Kwibi claimed him as a son, and this act prevented other gorillas from attacking him. Many species of primate use hugging as a deterrent for violence. For instance, if two chimps are fighting one male may scoop up a baby to initiate a cease fire. Kwibi was likely protecting Damien. Its also incredible that they were able to lock eyes. Gorillas are peaceful by nature but you should never look them in the eyes, it's provocative. This was a lovely story.
@@visibletoanyone922 No I didn't, I read some of it in Congo, by Michael Creighton, but I also studied primates in Biology which was my major in college. Nice try though.
Immediately after watching this video, I laid down and snuggled with both of my dogs. To truly feel an animal’s love is one the best experiences in this life.
@@jmtv81 I think this was worse based off Kwibi's reaction to being left again. Opening an old wound and hurting all over again for just a brief visit? Better to let old wounds heal
Exactly, i rescued dogs before and while i loved them all nothing compares to the bond i have with my German shorthair pointer. Hes the only dog i raised as a puppy and our bond is just something i can't describe it doesn't hurt that hes such a cool dog too! he can do some amazing things!
Kwibi is like a kid, who received plenty of good things and education. He then became an adult who left to form a new family. Few years later the dad came to visit him.
This is how it should have been before our first parents messed up... Man was in charge of the animals and was supposed to care and love for them and same for the animals. This is just to show what God's true purpose is... For those who don't believe in God, keep it moving because his existences is so evident and you don't have to agree with me so keep it moving....
Mountain gorillas are such intelligent and fascinating creatures. They love and never really let go of those they connect with, in one way or another. I agree, this was deeply moving.
This story gets me every single time & i start crying my eyes out , because it is just so beautiful watching, their non-verbal conversation , shared between 2 old friends. Kwibi does not look like a gorilla , but exactly like an early hominid, Australiopithicus. The intelligence in those eyes , really makes you hold your breath a second , just out of awe & respect. It actually gives you pause for thought, that we are not that far away from eachother, in the percentage of DNA that differentiates us from gorillas & orangutans , that percentage is a whopping 2% . Yep, 2 %
Imagine the level of safety you would feel in that jungle knowing the leader of a pack of gorillas loves you and will protect you. Nothing is messing with that dude while his gorilla buddy and family are around.
ALL animals are much more intelligent than we give them credit for. They ALL love, feel, suffer, think, miss and die just as humans do. And they do many of these UNCONDITIONALLY... unlike most humans. Go Vegan!
He was hugging him like he was a baby again😭 What a special bond. So neat that he remembered him and the comfort and safety he felt when he was being raised by him. 🥰
Sadly the man in this video is a a massive con artist that is affiliated with trophy hunting reserves. His team helped relocate a bunch of elephants to a fenced in hunting farm Called buffalo kloof hunting farm. He admits this openly. Buffalo kloof allows rhino hunting so obviously they’ll hunt those elephant once they start to reproduce. Also I love how it says “he searched for hours”. Fucking ridiculous. These gorillas are not in the wild, they’re in very large enclosures or on an island enclosure. That’s not the same as a gorilla running around virunga national park. Damian aspinall is a con artist. He always says he’s releasing animals but he’s just “releasing” them into bigger enclosures. Stupid. Don’t be impressed by an animal that was cared for in captivity, loving their captors. They’re animals. They don’t know any better.
The smile on that gorilla's face brought tears to my eyes. The gorilla had reunited with his foster father; I could see the love in his eyes. This was beautiful.
Omg.. I was in tears when I seen Kwibi following Damien’s boat. After 5 years and Kwibi still remembers who cared and raised him. The bond they share will never be broken.
i am kind of sad that when damian leaves kwibi will have to suffer another separation anxiety, he will never understand why damian has to go again, the fact that he hugged damian so tightly is he didn't want damian to go ...
Too bad true friends don’t go 5 years without seeing or saying anything to one another. In this case where it’s human vs animal sure but not human vs human.
Humans are truly the stewards of the world. We have the power to communicate with all animals if we try hard enough. The bonds we make with them are unbreakable. Much love to this man and this gorilla for showing the world their beautiful story!
Man is so stupid to think that "wild" animals cannot appreciate love and kindness. Thanks for this uplifting reminder that we are not the only beings on this planet capable of compassion.
It's not stupid thinking in that way. Wild animals can be very dangerous and those people were concerned for a valid reason. It was a risk and thankfully it ended up in a good way. But still, it would have ended up otherwise. They have to consider all possibilities before making a decision.
Kwibi hugs : Fuck whoever says its not advised to see his old friend Kwibi attack : Who is this guy dumb enough to go and die to wilderness *society in a fucking nutshell*

@@BIGC728 no poachers. Gorillas from his Port Lympne animal park were being sent to this area.
When Kwibi started following the boat I started bawling! That hit me so hard. Kwibi knew that he might not see him again so he wanted to see him as much as possible. Heartbreaking!
I don't like when people say this, but now I'm going to say it. Some children don't treat their parents as good as the gorilla. Your post made me think about that. Maybe we should throw them in the street after they turn 18 and they'll actually care. 🤔
@@DW-li1jn you don't understand what i say, this is not about how children treat their parent or throw them in the street at 18 but how you take care of your animal. You should try to learn your child if you got some and not throw them in the street like a savage at 18 years, they will hate you for sure. Care and gratitude to your animal and he will show you kindness but don't compare human and animal because human know only what is evil but animal know what is kindness and gratitude. Even if everyone try, its will be just a week, a month or a year and after that they will become worse than before because they're stuck in their own obsession.
Pretty sure humans understand friendships more, it's just the lack of healthy loving connections that's been disappearing. Raising a living animal with love and care makes a loving caring creature. Hostile violent environments raise hostile animals, humans included
This is very endearing, no doubt. Make no mistake though, they had a special bond. The gorilla knew the guy. Dont think it would be so sweet and cuddly to just anybody. Even in the video it says the last two men that went there were attacked. I assume they were strangers. Just a much-needed reality check in response to all the "theyre so pure and innocent, humans should learn from them" comments.
The very special and touching reunion between gorilla Kwibi and the man who raised him reveals the unbreakable bond between the two never to be broken by time or distance. Powerful stuff!
When Kwibi hugged him, his eyes were the ones of a small child again. As if he was allowed to feel insecure and immature again. I would have stayed with him
the confusion going through his mind, where is my dad now? does he think about me too, will he randomly come back to this place and find me again? we need a followup

He's safer in the wild. Not all animals are. They can be dangerous for other people.
