@@whalegh6861 Yes. But you do realize that it is way cheaper to slap some screens in there than it is to design, manufacture, QA, inventory, install, and warranty physical controls - right? It's a cost saving measure - there's nothing luxurious about it. Then add in the extra frustration and distraction on top of that - since now you have to navigate screens to do even the simplest tasks. Makes no sense. Don't don't get me started on the half-baked voice commands either.
I believe it adds another option for folks that's shopping for a luxury midsize sedan. But I don't believe that the value is there anymore. Just as expensive as the competitors without adding any ground breaking feature. But I must admit, it is still unique. Not as common as anything else on the road.
Definitely compelling, although in this category I feel like name carries more weight than the substance of the vehicle itself. Engine sounds incredible, especially in an era of turbo 4s with piped in engine noise.
Genesis pricing has gotten ridiculous. Gv80 listed at 99k, g80 for bmw money. You used to get a g90 for 5 series money. Genesis is one of my favorite car makes, minus the engine, but if I'm paying German luxury car prices I'm getting German.
My dealership has the g70 I haven’t gotten to test drive it because well it’s a genniss that’s why. It’s got a good engine and loads of features for half the price with its incentives then bmw
I have the 2012 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 rspec and honestly I've been looking at this for a replacement. I mean...I am no where near close to being able to afford it yet, but soon 🤣
Such an exceptional car. It’s near the top of my list. Genesis has zero interest in incentivizing the lease or purchase of these cars. That may be the only reason I don’t buy one.
Rambling on about Kia and Hyundai the whole time until the end. Then only compares cost but not cost of ownership. Doesn't mention concierge service or 3 years of maintenance. Much better buy for the money then he is describing.
16 mpg city & 24 highway? My 04 grand marquis gets better than that. The design is fine raally not fan of touchless ac buttons atleast with physical you can remember by feel. Its odd for the rear to get the rear usb they have to pull down the arm rest thats silly
I love this car and had one as a rental. However, as you say, it’s thirsty. Fuel cost was a deal breaker. GM and Ford exited the sedan business because they can’t compete with Genesis sedans.
How can it be good value??? It is not going to be reliable. It will depreciate like a European car but has none of the appeal. Genisis needs to be shut down before they bring down Hyundai. Genisis is not Lexus. Hyundai is not Toyota. I can easily see Kia being the only Korean car brand in 2030.
Absolutely wrong, Genesis is constantly compared to cars far higher price. Even when genesis was first launched they were all over the roads. Slowly gaining more and more popularity as time goes and people realize you dont have to pay a massive tag to get luxury and peace of mind with the best warranty in the market. Depreciation is bad for all high end (mostly European) vehicles.

The interior is mint 👌🏽
Great review and I would love to buy this car.
I've liked Genesis cars for a while. Nice to see this review. 👍
One of my Favorite looking Sedans
it’s a knock off audi a7
I lovvveee this refreshed interior.
This is still the best Asian luxury midsize sedan on the market. This is real effort. This is how you truly compete

@@rakhsiprayogo82 no it’s not. The fact that you even mentioned the Camry as a competitor shows how little you know about cars

The previous interiors looked more unique to me. These look like everyone else's.
Beautiful styling in and out.
Great review on this Matt. Personally, I prefer these in Black. Pricing is a bit tough tho, as you pointed out.
Beautiful car!
When will car manufactures learn that giant screens and touch capacitive garbage does not make cars luxurious?
@@ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow that's your OPINION !!

Then get a Mazda or a used lux car. To each their own.
Fulls agree. Also cars are getting too big and heavy imo.
@@aquamatt - Agree. Today's compact cars are yesterday's midsized cars. And today's midsized cars are yesterday's full-size.

yeah hyundai genesis is ridiculous. this should be a 50k car
If you really like this car, wait and get a gently used one. 79k is ridiculous.
As long as you're leasing, yes, get the BMW....
@ at this price I'd always pick the beamer to buy. Depreciation on Genesis is even higher than bmw, gives money for repairs

Generally speaking, whoever is buying this car will not necessarily be worried about fuel economy.
It's odd that they're missing some options from the korean market variant (ie rear seat screen which looks to be half decent)
Close to a beautiful interior, but failing to integrate the screens into the dash design is an automatic no-go for me.

Not getting the awesome warranty with BMW than with the Genesis.
Good point, I forgot to mention that.
I love genesis products but they're a steal in the used market
resale is awful no one wants it
@nissanhonda25 yes, that's why you buy them used like infiniti
Genesis is very nice…….and it’s ALL ABOUT THE WARRANTY!!!
Idk why put I prefer the g70 tbh. Which one do you prefer Matt? The g80 or g70.
If money wasn't a concern, G80 for me. I love how much more comfortable it is than the G70.
I forgot that they even still made this 😂
Wheels look horrendous and the front bottom grill takes it over the top.
As a millennial I cant stand the screens!

the g80 does look better over the 540i imo
