    Just a quick note before you watch the video: Keep in mind my car is relatively unique (and old) so their isn't a standard computer cut available. However, for 99% of the car in the world a computer cut is perfect. My car has a bunch of unique features that would have been an issue for the computer cut. Just an FYI :)

      Larry,
      How easy is it for a pro installer to only score the top layer with the knife? Is cutting to the paint something that a pro is never going to do or something that happens all the time? Lots of horror stories on high end cars floating around.

    I have put a protective bra on my car 9 years ago. Note that I drive it on roads usually contaminated with dust, rock chips, and possibly sand storms (Saudi Arabia). I must say it’s worth every penny. My car’s front bumper and hood is good as new. Although it costs much less here (around $500 with 10 yrs warranty), it’s still worth it.

    If you could all thank my Dad for inventing clear bra. He came up with the idea when I was a kid. He had the patent and I remember him flying across seas to make sure that he wasn't going to infringe on a patent for the film that was in between windshields. Man would it have changed his life if he could have afforded to renew his patent. 3m sure made a killing on it though!

    I ordered the same product to wrap the saddle bags on my motorcycle. I did the same on my previous bike, really protected the tops from my wife’s boot marks. The first wrap job, looked like 💩, but the paint looked great on trade in once removed. The new bike looks a bit better. I left it to the pros for my Audi. Great video 👍

      KunoMochi have you ever cleaned a motorbike? Just curious. The way the dirt gets baked ontp the engine its a pain in the ass, tar spots all over the exhaust are a pain, major degreasing takes place as there as so many lubrication points all over the bike. I need the tiniest brushes ever to get in some places and even down to using the rupes on a bike therw as so many sharp angles, tiny places, annoyin spots that are just impossible to do the way you would a car. Ill check out that video

    A note about computer-cut pieces - Some installers take the time to modify the computer template so that the cut provides an extra X" of film to facilitate wrapping the edges. Whether by hand or my plotter, wrapping edges where possible is very important.

    These guys seemed very professional and appear to have done a very good job. I think we all know Larry would accept no less, but I can't stand when someone in a profession claims they're way is the only way to get the best as if the rest of us are jokers. I use one of those red dot knives all day and my cuts are great. I can easily control the amount of blade exposed unlike that surgical blade and know exactly what I'm doing. To say the way to get the best install is with the same blade as yours is bull crap. There are farrrrr more crucial things to the success of the install then not using a red dot knife

    • @topwrapz
      @topwrapz 6 лет назад

      Exactly what I thought. AND you can use a 30 degree blade on a red dot and on every other "clicker knife" as they call it. It's almost the same as the surgical blade. Advantage of those knifes is that you can click the blade after every cut and have a fresh tip before cutting. I bet these guys are not changing those carbon blades that often.

    How do u choose a good company to do this. I see allot of people who detail saying they install it but I want to find a group that specializes in this due to the cost.

    Wish I knew about this before years ago, driving in New England rock chips ruined my paint. Now I am prepping it to paint again. Is there a shop that does this in Ma? Who use the same level of love and care as this shop does?

    • @anonymousmind
      @anonymousmind 6 лет назад

      Just so you know the paint job was VERY VERY VERY VERY EXPENSIVE! I'm talking $50,000+

      Anonymous you have no idea what you're talking about. Quit pulling numbers out of your ass

      I am talking about the clear bra, which is what this entire video is about. My car is already being painted. And second you missed the point of my question, which was if there was a shop in my state that does this, with the same level of care that this shop does.

    • @anonymousmind
      @anonymousmind 6 лет назад

      Patrick94GSR It was a concours paint job which required the whole car to be stripped and every body part removed then the rust was cut off and new reinforcements were put in. Every bump in the body was taken out. Multiple layers of Bentley black paint was applied. The car was then detailed and clear coat was applied. It required more than 5 workers. So the labour costs and the service cost was well over!

    • @Patrick94GSR
      @Patrick94GSR 6 лет назад

      The entire restoration was at least $50K sure, you said the "paint job" was $50K which is false.

    Great video, Larry! Do your Xpel friends work directly for Xpel and do they normally do installations? Just wondering if they are available for other installations (my new car). I’m in Michigan btw. Thanks!

    Larry if your going to track the car don’t they make windshield protection to prevent rock chips. Porsche windshields could get expensive.

    How well would this work for a 4x4 that goes in the woods and gets all the trees grazing and rubbing the paint?

    To all the people commenting "$5-$10k??? I can re paint the whole car for that money"... please read the following points as to why PPF is worth the money:
    Number 1: if you want the same quality paint job Larry has on his Porsche....it won't cost you only $5-$10k 😂😂
    Number2: even if you can....you will still get rock chips. And keep getting them....and guess what??? That's $5-$10k every time you want to spray your car. Not mention you will be without said car for around month.
