I actually commented about the great ghost notes in Ken's "Choke" reaction but I suspect he had already recorded this reaction before seeing my comment. Her ghost notes are definitely an underrated (and mostly never discussed) part Pau's playing.
She rides in triplets, and barks the hat quite often too that gets washed in live recordings and rarely get noticed. Not to mention her double kicks that also get lost in a live mix. Glad Ken caught them here....:)
My God...my brain simply cannot even fathom just how absolutely great these Ladies are, I've got tears in my eyes watching this...I don't know, just don't know anymore. Been listening to Rock for over 60 years now and these emotions and feelings watching and listenining to these insurmountabley talented ladies is all new...Thank God I am still on this planet to witness The Warning...just shaking my head now in disbelief at just how great they are. Thanks Ken, great reaction and breakdown and to put on this kind of performance when you are sick is another incredible and amazing feat. What's next? Cannot imagine. I am old, need to get my heart rate down. Cheers, stay well. Hope to see a livestream as well.
I get chills and tear up every time I watch Pau sing 23 and this video is no exception. The Warning team did an incredible job with the videos of this concert. Amazing. Ale is truly amazing on bass. I've looked at bass tabs for some of their songs and they aren't for a beginner lol My wife is Mexican so I totally get the pronunciation of some words can be funny. I find it endearing. I think Pau says 'alblum' and she wouldn't be the first person I've heard pronounce it that way. (my daughter when she was young) Adorable.
Ale's touch is next level. Whether she plays a sixteenth note or lets it ring through a full measure. The sign of a true bass player. And then there's her slides. Always playing to the song and adding to the melody. I see her destined for a fretless bass some day as accurate as her ear is...:)
This was an amazing performance by all of them. I can't believe they played when they were that sick. But the show must go on if it can... Wow! This was a special night. I wish I'd been there.
Just look at Pau's facial expressions. When she sings this you can just imagine her looking into the face of the person she is singing about. So heartbreakingly beautiful.
My favorite thing about "23" is the way Dany completely steps out of the spotlight and lets Pau have all of it. And it's not just the vocal performance, either. The drums are in the forefront here. Even during the guitar solo, Dany stays in the background. Her guitar is there to support the song and the song is Pau's. You can see it in Dany's face near the beginning: She's positively glowing knowing that Pau has the stage here.
And lo, a message from on high was heard over the land, "Let there be more thunder" was the command. The blessed low tones burst forth, as they should, And there was more thunder, and it was good.
The teatro performance was better because of that emotional wail and on this one she did not do it because she was ill with flu. But it was still good.
This Pepsi Center concert is really living up to the hype!! I am sure that the next Mexico tour will be mind blowing with the new set of songs and some of the previous most successful ones!!
There is an interview floating around with the late, great John Entwistle that is the perfect description of Ale. He talks about the difference between a Bass Player and a Bassist. Most bands just have a bass player. Ale is becoming a truly great Bassist.
I've always heard Entwistle in Ale. I get a kick when critics comment about Ale's movements. I always ask myself when i see the negative comments. Would you rather see her standing like a statue like John Entwistle.
love the cv ma man, drywall and handyman after all the vast array of strings to your bow!😲🤯😎but to still include the simple sometimes less commended attributes is commendable!🥳 the job is yours, when can you start?🤔🤣🤣🤣🤩
Just for your info Ken. The Warning are releasing the Pepsi Center by the setlist of that show. 23 songs total. They might skip over HYCAD since that was the first video released. Go on line or check a fan cam for the setlist.
Love the video, but I wish the camera would have focused on Ale when she responded to Dany's slides with her own or when Pau was belting at the end. Also you mentioned the underwear thing and now I can't unhear it, so thanks a lot Ken, thanks! HEHE! 😜
Before The Warning released the Lyric video for 23 (I got the early audio only Error album before the official release being part of the Kickstarter Campaign.). I also thought Pau sang *UNDERWEAR.* Us horn dogs better get our mind. out of the gutter. Could be worse.. First time I heard *"Automatic Sun".* Thought The Warning was schilling for *Bank of America* cause instead of the lyric *"Psychosomatic Love".* Thought Dany was singing *"Bank of America".* About 23 at Teatro Metropolitan. There were two versions of 23. First night was just The Warning. But the second night Ale's bass teacher Pablo Gonzalez (playing a Mexican bass) joined Ale on stage. Pablo missed his mark & the band started over. Now, here's the confusing part. The video was the first night since the second night everyone was watching Ale & Pablo. The teacher & the pupil. Which, with the fan cam, Dany wasn't even in the video. Pau was barely in it by default. Now the question is the audio was from the first night or second?? Saying this since The Warning did cut out the technical issue with Dany's guitar when she was getting the crowd involved with *"Dull Knives".* Which was on the fan cam video. Yes. Immediately I knew Pau was sick when I saw the fan bam livestream from Pepsi Center. Pau was under the weather that night. She still kicked major booty.. Onward we go.
7:09 it is funny just after you said that about Ale playin with fingers, she changes to pick for the rest of the song Anyhow, they move emotions in such an accurate way!
Little note: Pronunce the E of Ale as in enemy. To be clear, her name is Alejandra (wich is not pronunced Alijandra nor Alayjandra), take away "jandra" and don change the sound of Ale. There you go.
This is my favorite performance of "23" because of Pau's rawness and emotion... Also, when talking about changing little things here and there, Pau omitted a cymbal/snare hit in the Vevo Studios version of HYCAD. Who knows? Maybe she simply forgot to play it. Lol
You can also do damage to your vocal chords singing notes where you push your range to it's maximum register when you are ill. I am impressed she held back but in my opinion Pau is one of the most intelligent musicians i have experienced.
I don't think Pau "learned" English as in a 2nd language. They were raised bilingually. It's different. I love that Pau's voice gives no hint that she's also drumming. Meanwhile, she's maintaining a syncopated pattern on the pedal bass drum. Incredible coordination. Note, too, that the song does not resolve tonically at the end. You want her to hit one more note...which never comes.
I still don't understand why this song isn't dominating the radio. I can say that for many of their songs though. The Warning definitely are not Myles Kennedy, they don't need to pitch correct and then try to say it's not. Lol
September 24th my 73rd birthday they're playing in Detroit. And I got tickets. About to rock this birthday out. Peace ✌️
Hitting 56 - going to the LA concert in Oct !!!
Happy birthdays!
Early happy birthday. 🎉 Hope you have a great day.
@@vincemartinez1436Early happy birthday to you as well. 🎉 Hope you have a great day. I am turning 58 on the 12th. What day is yours?
Your the first to mention the ghost notes on the snare. Thank you for that. TWA

The guitar opening notes sound very melancholic to me.
I love this one, you could see Pau singing this with such powerful emotions, it makes you want to 😭.

There are no words to express how special these ladies are❤⚡️⚡️⚡️
Ale certainly knows how to "make it sound pretty"! Hats off to Pau.....still sounds great......Dany makes the guitar, and me, cry! Thanks Ken!

23 was the same with me took a few watches now it's up there with Blackholes it also can make a grown man cry 😢! ❤PAULINA insanely amazing!
The way Ale is sliding into those notes on bass is so tasteful.

Someone has decided that more volume on Ale’s bass is a good thing and they are correct!
And lo, a message from on high was heard over the land,
"Let there be more thunder" was the command.
The blessed low tones burst forth, as they should,
And there was more thunder, and it was good.
@@CraigCholarVery, very good indeed!🤘⚡
Thought it couldn't get any better than the Teatro Metropolitan. I was wrong. Every song released of the Pepsi Center concert so far is next level. ⚡️

@@SDsailor7 Pau's cries always get to me. Escapism is another example of them.
Well, if I was gonna get a "fake merch" shirt, it would be that one 😀
Nice job, Ken.
The way Dany played that opening was so neat. It almost made me emotional. Another fantastic performance from this concert. ⚡⚡⚡🤘🤘🤘
Absolute 🔥. Absolute professionals. Sick-as-all & still put on (yet another) performance of a lifetime. & even more Pau-formance yet to come 😉
Excellent my friend... excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

first I've heard this band, impressed. love your attention the small print within the contract (detail of piece)!😉ken is the watchful wizard!😎🕵♂🧙♂
Always amazing reaction!!
Great reaction and analysis, specially on Pau's missing last note. They are true professionals.👍
Yeah, the "underwear" has driven me crazy, because I haven't seen a comment about it... ever. Glad I'm not loosing my hearing. Thanks!!
I've always heard it too but was afraid TWA would roast me if i mentioned it....:)
Its like Survive, "dont come to me with your legs in the air"😅
Yup, Pau was sick that night. Love The Warning!

Beautiful performance and yes Pau is smart not to force that high note, save those vocal cords from damage to. 🤘⚡️🤘
She couldn't do it due to being sick, she can hit those high notes for sure.

Whoa! I just noticed your Ale figurines in the back. I did not realize how big they are. I thought they were like 6”, or less.
Great song and great performance of it. I just listened to the part where she sings "unaware" 6 or 7 times and I don't hear a "D" sound.
And oddly I can't not hear it.
Nothing like that Black beauty sound 🥁
Absolutely amazing performance!!
They are the Queens of the music scene!
Viva The Warning!! ⚡⚡⚡
I thing the story of the "underwear" word has to do with the flu stuff... so I think it's more a blocked nose effect 😂
If you want to cry with Pau, watch Breathe. You are a robot if dont do it with that song😢😢😢😢😢😢
Not necessarily. It all depends on the moment. Remember, everyone is different and people react differently to different things.
Probably the last time they’ll ever play this amazing song.
I always hear 'in a simply underwear' since the first listening to this song.

The whole Pespi show it's superior in quality of audio and video! When i think they was all sick, i'm upset!
I’m sticking with “underwear.” LOL

I think it's a C#4. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong 😊
She didn't hit the C#4 because she was sick.

The Warning definitely are not Myles Kennedy, they don't need to pitch correct and then try to say it's not. Lol
Are you 100% sure they don't get pitch corrected? Perhaps we should get Fil from Wings of Pegasus to run an analysis, just to be sure?
@@davidrees4218 I figured someone here had seen the video Fil did and would get the reference.
