  • Hello, and welcome to the top 12 most immersive theme park rides in the world. I chose 12 because… well frankly I feel I would create a mob of unhappy Disney fans if I went with 10 and left a couple out. Now obviously this will be completely opinionated, so my choices will not be the same as the next Homo sapien.
    There were a couple guidelines on how I ranked these rides. How themed not only the ride itself is, but the theming of the queue as well. It’s uses of practical effects and movie screens. I myself am more of a practical effect guy but if the ride can mix the two seamlessly then it can make for a mesmerizing experience. I am eliminating any ride that is just a movie screen ride. Sorry Flight of Passage. The last 2 guidelines are how realistic the animatronics were made and how well the storyline was developed. So without further ado…. Let’s get started.

    First off, I’d like to apologize to those over in California because of the loss of a beloved attraction. However, I will say that California Adventure did a pretty good job of keeping the ride mechanics while developing a world class storyline. And am excited to be able to experience Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout for myself. With that being said… Disneylands ToT had nothing on Orlando’s version. The experience starts in the courtyard of a haunted hotel. As you make your way into the Hotel, you notice how long it has been since anyone has stepped foot inside. You make your way into the boiler room and then you are ushered into an elevator. Every single piece of theming here has been thought out very carefully to envelope you in a world of ominosity. But once you start your voyage on the elevator, that ominous feeling becomes justified because you are thrown right into the world of the Twilight zone. With section where you actually move forward on a track through the intro to the twilight zone show and a randomized drop sequence, this ride is a Disney classic that I hope will remain for many more years to come.
    #6. Jurassic Park: IOA, Florida
    Ride By (JC Entertainment): • JURASSIC PARK RIDE 4K ...
    As you have probably already realized… every ride so far on this list has been associated with either Universal or Disney… so there is no surprise that the next ride comes straight from Universal’s Islands of Adventure. This behemoth of a ride based off Steven Spielbergs movie adaptation of the book Jurrassic Park, written by Michael Creichton, costed a whopping $110 million to make. Nearly twice as expensive as the original movie. It was opened in 1999 and like most of the rides developed around this time, incorporated nothing but animatronics. While the original Jurrasic Park ride opened in California, the Orlando version definitely has a more realistic feel to the dinosaurs. While taking a slow boat ride and getting up close and personal with these reptiles, your boat is knocked off course by this nitwit. Now you have to dodge a falling crate, evade spitting dinosaurs, escape one of the most terrifying dinosaur animatronics ever created, and survive an 85 foot drop.

    Flight of Passage at Animal kingdom was by far the most immersive ride I have ever been on. I thought I was dreaming when the opening sequence happened. Also, the Ratatouille ride at Disneyland Paris was also a very well put together attraction.

      @@geschlonst sorry but Efteling and Phantasia aint got shit on Disney, or Universal, like literally aint got shit, not even top 16. This video is now old and doesn’t include cosmic rewind. I mean come on Forbidden Journey, Hagrids, the new Jurassic Park, Nintendoland, Transformers, The Mummy, Rise of the resistance, Smugglers Run, you really think Eftlings Disney copies can even compete with those? Plus the queues are often not even done and the stories make no sense at Phantasialand lol

    • @LLLLLLLLLucas
      @LLLLLLLLLucas Год назад +1

      @@percussionnow5982 as you are clearly an American, you have literally demonstrated how you've never been to The Efterling, Phantasialand or Europa Park. Your ignorance is further highlighted by the fact that The Efterling came before Disney and literally was a park that inspired the creation of Disneyland. Also if anyone holds the authority on how to portray culturally european fairytales, it will be Europeans at the Efterling or others EU parks, not your americanised Disney rip offs.

    • @Tamwyn107
      @Tamwyn107 Год назад +4

      @@percussionnow5982 What you are stating is as wrong as “facts” from the Channel coaster Bot oder from Disney+ series “imagineering” or “behind the attraction”. I love this series, but it’s like always: Disney get credit for things that they didn’t do by themselves, techniques and themes that weren’t invented by the same.
      This genres of western/ Frontierland existed before in other parks, also in knots I think. Boat rides like pirates of the Caribbean existed before, at themeparks, so why should Fata Morgana be a copy cat? Horror Houses in Styles like the Victorian are also not an invention by Disney. Even before the themes were in theme parks, they were in books, in novels. So they didn’t invented the wheel like they always pretend. They don’t built è teething by themselves, like they pretend etc.
      So I ask of you, where do you see a copycat in Efteling besides carnival festival? Which was a present.
      The fairytales were build in Efteling first and they are European… and a fairytale forests wasn’t completely new either.
      Symbolica was long Hand planned and imagined for years, even before we new anything about phantom Manor.
      In general I wouldn’t talk about copycats but that Disney did an æmultatio.
      Where are the cooycats in Phantasialand?

    Have you had a chance to get on Hagrid, Velocicoaster, or Rise of the Resistance, yet? I think they would all have to make top 5 in a new list, arguably. I have never seen a roller coaster with that much theming & immersion. I agree with most of what you had, but updated for 2021, i'd say:
    1. Shanghai Pirates: this is just the most incredible dark ride i've ever seen and i've only watched on youtube. This is fair
    2/3: Forbidden Journey/ Gringotts. These are pretty much on par. Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade in Universal Orlando are the most immersive lands to date, anywhere.
    4) Rise of the Resistance: Universal hollywood studios Orlando. This is absolutely fantastic. This was their response to the Wizarding World and Disney did a hell of a job. Super immersive and a fantastic, ambitious dark ride in general.
    5) Velocicoaster: unprecedented for any roller coaster. The theming of this coaster sets a new standard for future thrill rides
    6) Hagrid: another ground breaking, immersive Universal Orlando creation in the Wizarding World universe. Instantly becomes a top ride for anyone that rides it, largely due to its immersion.
    Honerable mention: The Mummy, Universal Studios Orlando... I am surprised this did not make the list! I thought its use of animatronics, its queue, etc. is at LEAST on par with Dinosaur from Animal Kingdom. IMO, The Mummy is far more immersive, not to mention a far better ride, all around. They replaced a CLASSIC in Kongfrontation with The Mummy and I think there were barely any complaints. Killer immersive dark ride, without a doubt.

    I'm taking into account that this was made 3 years ago and there are some INSANELY great new rides around the world that would probably knock several of these off your own ranks, but I do feel like you only focused on Universal and Disney. Fair, as they are definitely two of the top contenders, however there are some really excellent rides across the globe (outside of the US, too) that are hidden gems in what you were judging. Some, yes, less animatronics, but I definitely feel like you ought to consider broadening your horizons on the plethora of attractions out there! Perhaps you have, it's been three years. LOL.

    I do not think anything will ever touch Alien Encounter (WDW Tomorrowland - Defunct). To this day I have not found an attraction that can give me the immersion of that attraction. A literal alien (definitely based on the famous Fox franchise alien) escaping from a cylinder it was teleported to by mistake, shattering said cylinder as the wind of the explosion and something made to feel like glass flew past you, running around a conference center room, licking you on your neck, spitting on you, running across your shoulders and killing a maintenance worker whose blood trickles down on to you. Nah...do not see that one getting beat. Disney should have never caved to the Karens.

Not one attraction at WDW came close to the thrill Alien Encounter gave until I went ROR. That is one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed ever.

    Tomb Raider The Ride at KI is the most immersive ride I ever rode. Its also my favorite ride I've ever been on, and NOTHING can dethrone it. Too bad Cedar Fair destroyed it. I'll forever miss it. It is my #1 of all time, and the rarest credit I have.

    Europa Park, Efteling, Alton Towers, Phantasialand. These are all parks with much better theming that realistically give Disney and Universal a run for their money. Of course your opinion is yours to have, but research is always necessary.
