Antonioni never compromised his principal belief that cinema is defined by images as opposed to theatre which is mainly dialogue based. He was a master “image”craftsman and as time passes, his significant contribution to the art of cinema becomes more pronounced.
These edits makes me appreciate each director's work sooo much more. You do such a good job selecting not just the most visually striking segments from each movie but also the most contextually significant. Massive applauds for you.
Congratuations man, you did a fantastic job here, a pure joy to watch! The pace with the rytmn of the music, those two Richard Harris' lines perfectly timed in the middle of the video... WOW! Can't wait to see the rest of your work!
A lot of these shots that you picked seemed to have a lot of "dreamlike" qualities to them. The locations and the sets that were filmed look like something out of my dreams
You missed one of the most classic shots. The ending in the passenger where the camera dollies through the bars on the window. That sort was destroyed by a cyclone the next day.
Just watched it again. Having read what HELL the whole crew went through filming on the island to get the perfect shots such as Monica Vitti at the hut window looking out at the sun on the sea (1:48) and how much everyone really believed and began to understand Antonioni's vision I can understand when the Cannes premiere was loudly booed, Vitti and Antonioni fled the theater Then the explosion of appreciation right after.
Every single shot of Red Desert is a painting. In fact, Antonioni painted his films as much as he shot them. For me the greatest director ever, but I guess not many will concur
El cine de Antonioni, particularmente su producción en b/n, tiene una extraña condición, contraria a las imágenes: no envejece. No sé si es bello por eso. O no envejece porque es tan bello.
Beautiful, sensual, artistic, compelling, atmospheric, and cinematic! Gorgeous!
The final shots of L'Avventura, La Notte, and Blow Up are simply high points of world cinema.
not to mention the final hypnotizing tracking shot of "The Passenger"

One of the best filmmakers of all time. When people seems to see nothing, images are full of meaning.

Some brave and scintillating choices here. It would been easy just to put Monica Vitti in ever shot. She was so very beautiful.
I love the trains in these shots. Brilliant framing.

Ironically, there are 14 shots in that film that antonioni himself absolutely hate
Mi trilogía cinematográfica suprema es italiana. En orden alfabético: Antonioni, Fellini, Visconti.

A better translation of the title "Il Grido" would be "The Outcry."
👍
If the editing was way slower, it would make these shots more enjoyable. Really too fast paced. Can’t even absorb each scene and detail.
terrible fast
YOU MAY HAVE SHOW ONLY THE PHOTOS AS WELL - IT WILL BE THE SAME - BECAUSE THESE SHOTS ARE TOO SHORT!!!! 😡
