I like how the match went down nwo vs dx 3 on 3 on the outside an sting an trips in ring. I think after Shawn came out an hit the super kick that's when taker should of came out to scare em all away an least have a staredown with sting maybe but should've happened earlier in the match so they could of surprised the fans an have a impromptu match. Then the next year could of been bray in Dallas.
This is why he is still relevant. He is a living legend
Sting is THE classiest wrestler of all time. Always so professional and positive. He was a BIG part of my childhood
Sting vs Taker at WrestleMania at that time was what everyone was hoping for😞
Wouldn't have made sense, they both were up there in age and you'd split the audience on who you want to win
Who’s going to win? The guy making the debut, pissing of fans that Taker lost at WM, or Taker, pissing off the fans Sting lost at WM in his first match. Having Sting lose to Triple H was ridiculous though

He fxcked up Triple Hs leg and he was getting winded. You marks never pay attention what's really going on,only your feelings about what didn't happen.
Hell,he should've lost,it made sense seeing as he cost The Authority the survivor Series match & what does he look like bashing the WWE for years and thinking he was going to come and get what he wanted?
Y'all mad cause Vince &, Co. Had to straighten these WCW heads out. Sting was overrated anyway, what's he doing in AEW right now?
Same ish he did in WWE and this, sit it out. Sting doesn't fool me,he decided to come to WWE when everyone he could've had great feuds with were already gone and retired he literally waited til everyone in the ATTITUDE Era left WWE and then he came 😂😂😂
For me, it was Sting vs HBK
Sting looks great for his age. Always so positive too

Absolute class act. Nostalgia factor is awesome. Sting's first WWE match is a Wrestlemania match against Triple H. It doesn't get any bigger than that.
Meeeeeh

@@JimDee885 Everyone that came from WCW had a much tougher go. Even Goldberg was treated like a chump. NONE of them ever held the title long. While they all might not have been “buried” there was a definite difference in how they were booked.
I got to finally see Sting wrestle and it was at Mania. I was happy he got that spot, but of course it would have been great for him to get the victory. But it still was a moment for him, and us fans!
You should see him in his prime. Look up Clash of the Champions with him vs Ric Flair. And Great American Bash with him vs The Great Muta.
What he was “scared of” in his TNA dvd of how he couldn’t trust how’d he be used - is EXACTLY what happened. They brought him like every other WCW Wrestler and beat him.
Yet clearly he doesn't feel he was misused. Funny that you have "nostalgia" in your username but don't get that as Sting says the match was all about nostalgia...and in the match, as in history, the WWF won.
@@obsoleteworlds WTF. What does “my nostalgia” have ANYTHING to do with my disappointment in the finish of that match? I loved WCW more than the WWF growing up and Sting is my favorite wrestler (2nd to Bret Hart) and as always - HHH & Shawn Michaels got their way. If the Undertaker would have beat him - I might feel different but that’s a “what if?” And Sting was never NWO black & white - so it just never made sense to me for them to come down IMO.
@@obsoleteworlds
Peak WCW was beating peak Attitude Era, so you’re wrong.
AJ Styles lost his first Wrestlemania match and look how his career turned out. The only reason his WWE run is frowned upon is because of the small sample size. He got hurt, you don't know what else he would've done, I'm pretty sure he would've had a match at Wrestlemania 32 and Wrestlemania 33. They wouldn't give him a WWE Title match just to not use him anymore.
@NostalgiaMan If he was there for 3 years and that was the extent of his WWE run, I would agree with your misused statement. However, since was injured, you can't judge his run by that because you don't know what would've happened if he didn't get hurt.
It wasn't the Wrestlemania match we wanted with Sting. But definitely exceeded expectations. I loved it!
Glad he was happy with the way things went(or at least the size of the paycheck) We are lucky to have gotten Sting in a Mania match, it was his only one, that probably ever will be.
One of the all time greats. I was so happy to see him at wrestle mania I could care less if he won or lost.
For HHH/Vince it was a long anticipated burial of Sting/WCW, the final nail in the coffin. And Sting hesitated for years after witnessing the treatment of Booker T and other top WCW talent during the Invasion era. He knew what he'd be signing up for: A Pedigree...1...2...3. But kudos to his positivity. A real life Babyface.
yeah “top wcw talent” like the new breed
Love Sting! I just smile when i see and listen to him
Yes we all wish they would have done better with Sting in the WWE, but that match was great. And even though he lost, they made Sting look like the stronger person. I love that match.
Sting will always be a bigger person, a true class act
Good Guy Sting. Be A Stinger! WAOOOO!
He could have went off on how bad or looked at a bad perspective. We've seen some of these Inside The Rope clips where they would shoot on whoever, but still kept it professional and classy and always looked at it from the best perspective. He chose to see it from a good light.
We all make choices every day and every moment of our life.
I am sure he's had his strife since no one is perfect but Sting has always been a good and positive role model.
Because he aint CM Punk who’s always whining and constantly
That was in Glasgow, that was a great night
Always give props to Sting for being a professional
I wish Sean Waltman had turned on Triple H by revealing an nWo shirt underneath his DX shirt. Waltman was such a key member of the early nWo and it would have been a cool nod to the nature of the Monday Night Wars and the Kliq.
Sting understood what's the important essence of the feud was... Nostalgia..... while the IWC.....
this match was a perfect example of Vince's famous quote/mentality "We sell the sizzle, not the steak."
@GoodStuff84 think about it. It's WCW vs WWE its the last hoorah of the Monday night war. Is it logical that the company that died won? No. Would you allow the home team not win? No. Sting knows its the right decision. the NWO knows its the right call, DX as well. Only people who thought its not is the IWC the ones whose opinions that doesn't matters
How do you know it was HHH’s decision to win? You’re basing your opinion on nothing
@@user-dq6se6er8j at the time it probably wasn't. It was Vince. There was no way in hell Vince was ever going to book sting over H, because sting wasn't a WWE guy. Wrestlemania is still a much much bigger deal than All In, it's not the same league. All In was a great show, but it's meaningless compared to the Superbowl of wrestling -- Wrestlemania.
I was there at a my first Wrestlemania for Wrestlemania 31 and it was epic. Such a dream of mine to go too and when dx came out then nwo came out the place went crazy.
I was there at mania 31 it was electric

I understand his point. I mean, if you think about it, Sting was already in legendary status when he went to Wrestlemania. He didn't have to prove the fans anything that we didn't know. He just wanted to give us that dream nostalgic feud that we always hoped for and made it a reality. He didn't care or needed to win.
Always a man of Class!
He's right, but he's also wrong. There WERE so many great things to remember about that match...which makes it even more disgusting that the finish sullied all of that. There was absolutely NO good reason for Sting to job for HHH in that match. NONE.
He doesn’t understand that they intentionally buried him because he was a WCW guy and that sledgehammer shot was symbolic.

@@austin31697 i mean once you’re nWo, you’re nWo 4 Life…lol honestly it was absurd, but trying to make some sense of something so stupid.
@@austin31697 There is a difference between seeing an underdog overcoming insurmontable odds to finally reach the mountain top and were the excuse can simply being adrenaline rush or Bryan showing that he was indeed the man supposed to be World Champion for almost a year, and having Sting saying "It's not about WCW vs WWE" yet the match turns into some Monday Night Wars match where WCW former stars come to the aid of Sting, and that those allies from WCW are the very group that was created as people wanting to destroy WCW and were Sting's arch-nemesis even leading to his most famous version.
At least Vince being with former ennemies during the Invasion made sense, because it's about defending his Federation, so he's gonna have to put hate aside if he wants to keep his lifelong work, but Sting being helped by the faction he went to war against makes no sense. They could have bring Wolfpack, he was a member after all, or just put the Nitro theme song, but it's not as famous so they went with the incoherent idea of nWo coming to the rescue of the one man who stood between them and the promotion they are suddenly supposed to be representative of despite the fact they wanted it under their control or simply destroyed (one of the idea for nWo was that they would one day take over and change the promotion's name to New World Order Wrestling), because saying "Yeah but Nash and the others were with Sting back then" doesn't work given they came as nWo and not Wolfpack (once again, because nWo is more recognizable but that creates a narrative issue).

I find it hillarious that people are saying that Sting is WRONG and doesnt get it ... im pretty sure if he wasn't comfortable losing he wouldn't have done the match it seems he was at the point in his career where he had done pretty much everything except wrestle a big match at the arguably the biggest wrestling event in the world and win or lose he just wanted to have that memory
You get to wrestle TRIPLE H lol. Makes me think of cm punk ever time
He says nostalgia like it’s automatically a good thing. There were so many things wrong with it. The only thing worse than Sting losing that match was the sledgehammer spot where HHH broke it over his back, and then proceeded to shake Sting’s hand after the match. It made Stinger look like a chump. That’s what the fans hated
There’s ways for the favorite to lose without the disappointing feeling of “he should’ve won”, prime example being Rock vs Hogan. So yea, he should’ve won.
Wwe was producing some amazing wrestlemania ppvs back then 28-30-31 was some of the best. 20 22 17-19. But today standards are so much bigger on another level and more storytelling but 31 was truely a amazing mania
It was a really fun match. No way in hell they were going to tell the WCW vs WWE storyline at the end with Sting going over.
I’m a hardcore HHH fan but I’ll be honest , sting needed to win that match
Doing the job, on his back, counting the lights
A class act one of the many reasons he is top 10 all time
The ending was fitting. WcW lost. But the packages for media, entrances, music was all better than he ever had before. It was good stuff
My one wish, HHH comes out of retirement before Sting retires so he can give him his win back.

I still maintain the stance that Sting should’ve gone over Triple H and then put over Rollins at NOC. That way Sting gets a W at Mania, and Rollins and Triple H have an igniter for their feud.
The first thing that comes to my mind is that he got fucked over because WWE couldn't get over their own shit. He always brings this shit up and I wish he wouldnt be so damn humble. I wanted to see my favorite wrestler win. Sorry, this is a trigger topic haha

Sting gets it!. WWE beat WCW in the Monday night war, this was WWE beating WCWs greatest star, it's long-term storytelling, sting gets it,
The WWE did not beat WCW. WCW imploded and the WWE (adding TNA Impact Wrestling & AEW) picked up the remains.
@@Mr.Majestic77 WCW imploded because WWE took the talent of the future because it was the better product. WWE snagged up Jericho, Guerrero, Benoit, Big Show. Also WWE made much better television in the 90s. Yes WCW imploded on itself, but that's a direct result of the success of WWE. To say WWE didn't beat WCW makes zero sense.
Please WCW died because of the time Warner aol merger nothing else. WWE didn't kill WCW and wcw was still top 5 I'm the ratings when it was pulled off the air had more people watching it than WWE had today

It sucks that of all companies, it was WWE that picked them up; I'd rather had seen Bischoff or Jericho (who retroactively would've bought it for more than what Vince paid) reboot WCW as a minor promotion.

But the funny thing is, they would not have complained if he faced The Undertaker instead of Triple H, and The Undertaker won. Because why? Easy answer. Very easy answer.
They believe the twisted burry plot theories and because its Triple H.
They specifically had Sting get beaten by DX AND the sledgehammer. They couldn't have used any more ways to show that this was Triple H, in storyline, stacking the deck and using everything he had against Sting. But yet they only see a W and an L.

Hey Sting gets it!
Didn't grow up watching WCW so I was never a Sting fan because I knew very little about him. Up here in Canada it wasn't on cable. I only remember seeing him and all the other wrestling promotions in magazines as a kid. Especially the fantasy match between Hulk & Flair. I stopped watching WWE after the attitude Era. But ive watched so many RUclips videos of WCW during the wars. That being all said, Sting and Taker would of been one hell of a lead up to the match. Epic even but who knows. Could of been shit too at the same time. Lol
Let Sting wrestle a five minute squash match at the 2023 WrestleMania to get a win. Maybe tag team with The Undertaker.
sting avoids going to wwe for decades because he's afraid of getting buried. so he finally goes and gets buried and he says he was just happy to get buried because it was triple H. dude. you coulda got that storyline 20 years ago
Sting made piles of money and preserved his character by not going to wwe. He used wwe for the big spot and moment and nothing less. He didn't need to win a match to win the audience. Triple H comes off looking beyond stupid for needing to win.
Sting is a great PR and businessman. It was great timing for him. The lucrative TNA contract was coming to end (what was is 500k for a handful of matches/appearances pa). This was a chance to get that WWF merchandise deal (dvd, t shirts, video game etc).
Obviously it's not what we wanted and showed Vince was still WCW bitter 10+ years later. It should have been Sting vs Undertaker, fans have screamed about it since WCW went under. There was no need for it to be HHH and no need for it to be A HHH win. Yes it was nostalgic and yes we finally got to see Sting in a WM match but ultimately it gave the fans nothing they wanted!
If they could have fucked Vince of 20 years ago and ran the place like an actual business rather than his perverted plaything, given wcw had jsut folded we could have had:
1. An awesome invasion angle
2. Insane amount of dream matches
3. Matches we wanted to see
Such a shame and also a terrible business decision!
Nobody wanted Sting VS Triple H or to see NWO or DX. We all wanted to see Sting VS The Undertaker
It's clear that the result doesn't bother him like it bothers fans. Either he's dumb and was talked into it (unlikely) or he was fine with it and part of the booking.
Maybe fans should get over it and content themselves that since Sting himself was happy with it why should it bother them?
