I think Taker didn't want that match due to the fact that Sting was still fit and could move very well where as Takers body has been ravaged it wouldn't have coped well and the match would have looked like a joke.

Sting kicking out of a choke slam through a table. Scorpion death drop from a reversed attempted Tombstone. Taker kicks out, Sting tries another tombstone which is reversed and taker hits his own tombstone and the end.

Neither of them is an egomaniac like most of the stars in the history of the business had tendencies to be or flat out were. Taker is super chill super to the point no bullshitting around and there was a reason he is so respected in the locker room all these years.
