These are all the songs that Metallica has performed live from St. Anger. Unfortunately they have only played 7 tunes so far. The remainder have been filled in from the St. Anger Rehearsals DVD. There also isn't any full video out there of Some Kind Of Monster or Sweet Amber so I have included the short clips that were available, as well as the full song from Metallica HQ.

God these songs are like a million times better with a live mix
Agreed!
@@eyekantspele If Lars didnt insist on using the trash can snare, St Anger wouldnt have been as hated for sure
@@Facerip i dont even mind the snare
@@FlankinspanK me either. Not that great but the mix was still done very well
@@Facerip hell, some songs i prefer with the trash can snare. gives it a more frantic feel, especially on dirty window
This album has helped me through some dark times
Same here. All Metallica albums in general, but this one was the darkest times even though I listened to it 8 years later after it was released.
It takes a lot of guts to be as publicly vulnerable as the guys are on this album and the movie. What happened to Cliff was absolutely traumatic for all of them, and I think seeing them facing that trauma and working through it publicly helps destigmatize therapy and mental illness. I’ve got a lot of respect for them, especially James.
It was intended for Metallica's darker times. I hope you're doing well.
this album put me INTO some very dark times when i bought it new for quite a bit of money back then!
@@dmer-zy3rb you know what they say, you have to lose yourself to find yourself.
St. Anger was my introduction to Metallica, so it will always have sentimental value to me. Out of their entire discography, I find myself revisiting this album more often than any of their others.
Also was my introduction, I was 13 years old when I listened for the first time I think in 2006, I learned to play this album in it's entirety. I have a tattoo of a phrase from Frantic in my chest.
Damn I'm sorry this had to be your first intro to Metallica. This happens to be my least fav album from them. My favs are all in the 80's. That is when they were absolutely raw Metallica.
St. anger the best ❤ !
Sorry about that, I’m life long Metallica fan however live this album was travesty .
Still remember Waiting for new Metallica album and being so disappointed
Same here, and it still stands as the best album for me in any band ever.
they need to play Sweet Amber again. one of the best songs they made, honestly
Definitely one of the best from St Anger
I was at the only show they've played Sweet Amber at (Lubbock, TX) and the crowd was dead for it. I think it's extremely underrated.
SA is probably my fav, or at least top of the list, Sweet Amberrrrrr.
Great song. I think Some Kind of Monster and My World kick ass too, wish theyd play em.
no
St. Anger live is one of my favorites!
Yeah!
same for me!
because the shitty ass snare isn't there LMFAO
its their experimental album that didnt meet mainstream expectations yet is actually a gem
More like a turd.
ahahahahhaahahahah
experimental my ass lol
Good take. New one is different like that too
I’d argue it’s more a product of both the time and their mental state at the time, but ig that falls under experimental
The unnamed Feeling deserves to be up there with The outlaw Thorn and Bleeding me
Many cool moments of modern heavy music in this controversial but underrated album.
Absolutely
This album helped my step grand grand father to survive without arms. Inspirational.
Wow
Absolutely love St. Anger but then again I grew up with the whole nu metal sound so this has the bounce and groove that I enjoy.
I’m in the same boat. Some people my age (30) like to think they were around for the black album release but in reality I was too young and unaware for load/reload. St Anger was my first proper intro to Metallica as it was for many. Yes it has its issues but as a piece of expression and art it is amazing.
Same here (36), fell in love with Fuel in 1998, went to buy Reload, but they "only" had the black album, so got crazy with that, got MOP for christmas 5months after then i was DIE HARD metallica after that, and then Anger came out loved that too for sure
@@brutallica2944 It’s hard for me to rest get into their first 4 albums. Great songs but the albums sound too quiet :( they just don’t hit for me
my world and sweet amber are 2 gems - best of the album - they should play them live
I really wish they’d play purify live. One of my favorite Metallica songs to be honest
Would love to hear that one!
Purify gets a lot of hate, but the song is banging hard
@@justmax234 it gets more hate than it deserves, I actually love it so fucking much!
@@justmax234I really wonder why?? It’s one of the only songs on the album that aren’t over done in length or gets redundant. Plus the riffs are Fucking massive. I think it just has everything to do with the production man if some of those songs were tweaked and balanced a little more I think it would have been received differently. Some songs have a bit of a Frankenstein feel to them and it shows.
Dirty Window Is Playing 2 times in this year 🤩
I would love to see it live in person!
Invisible kid is a really underrated song, my favorite of the album
My favourite song on the album.
Especially the HQ version .
Lars drum fill that’s not on the album version is dope af ❕❕❕
St Anger is the most underrated Metallica works. One of my favourites after Black Album
Yup
lul. Yes, it is understated how fking awful it is.
I think load and reload got a ton of hate too. St anger had it the worst, but let’s not forget the previous two. I love them all honestly.
After Justice it's the only album I'm aware of 🤘
if fucking Lars did like any normal metal drummer and tightened the snares, making the snare drum sound like a normal one when hit, and if Kirk woulda played a lead in each song, St. Anger would have had positive reviews and sounded like almost any other Metallica album. But noooooo! They had to be different!!! 🙄 I do like the songs on the album, but i feel they coulda been better if not for the aforementioned shenanigans!
Some of Kind of Monster, My World, Invisible Kid, and Shoot Me Again are gems.
I can't believe that St.Anger was released 20 years ago, like it was released last week))) I remember that I watch a Some Kind Of Monster movie like yesterday)))
i loved Shoot Me Again! Killer riffs!!! The Unnamed Feeling is top notch!!!! Very underrated song!!!! ❤
It has to feel really cool to play St. Anger under the rain
Invisible kid and sweet amber...cool
I wish they would play them again
Criminally underrated album. ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Absolutely
Its one of the best Albums they did. Very honest about inner conflicts and so powerfull.
Much of the work after this Album tryes to get back the 80's vibe, what is almost Impossible, what not mean that I dont like them. Its my favorit Band alive since I developed musical taste.
Yup
I like st anger album it is
underrated , but Tleast it hS its own identity, to me last few albums are just not memorable at all.
@@calldyuk1751that is definitely true. Post-St. Anger just feels all the same.
FINALLY more people that have logical sense. I'm glad I'm not alone.
Time has been kind to this album... because it sure didn't get the respect it deserved when it came out.
'He never gets respect'
They must play "Sweet Amber" often! That song is killer!
This album is better than everything they did after. I don't know why so many people hates it.
The production
It's the production, it all was left as raw material to feel more authentic and ended up being just undercooked. I think these sounds could have benefited from a ReLoad approach, slower, heavier, and waaay shorter. If they don't have solos or harmonies, why are they 7 minutes long?
The garbage can drums on album
@@fatimapalacios2292 "slow" on St. Anger. If you ever rant or let your anger out on someone, do you do it with all your speed and might or slowly and politely? yeah.. that argument of that they should have "cleaned it up" makes no sense.
My World is one of my fav of Metallica songs
Love it! Wish they would play it in front of a crowd one day
20 years ! Time pass so fast! i 've the feeling Robs joined 5 years ago.
Say what you want to say, to me this is one of the best and most original metal albums ever in history.
Bass in St Anger is incredible, saw that tour, most of them, but up front at Boston Garden 04, I love St Anger, its like collecting Rolex watches, they cant all be your favorite, but in the end they are still Rolex watches ; )
Exactly. St anger deserves some love too
My favorite album of Metallica
It’s good
It surprises me how much love sweet amber always gets from the fans in the comments. For me the star of St Anger is Some Kind of Monster, the groove is just fucking awesome, up there with my favourite metallica songs. Invisible Kid second for this album.
If it wasnt so needlessly long, Frantic would be sick
Hell yeah
Same could be said for most of the songs on this album
@@eyekantspeleAnd if they were mixed properly.
Sweet Amber live is FIRE 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I wish they would play it again!
Huge thanks for producing and uploading this video.
They really should play Sweet Amber live again
James' voice is getting better and better!
Yes!
HOW????
@@simonettacarsonelli Vocal coaches. Breathing steamy air (good for the vocal cords). Practicing how to use Your voice with as less effort as possible.
@@homersimpson8414I just saw them in NJ and James sounds better than he has decades. He’ll never sound like he did on Binge and Purge, but he is still a force of nature live.
this album is fire!!!! love it from the day it was born!!!!
Already 20 years since that album came out on Spring 2003
I always make the claim I’m one of the only St. Anger fans in existence. I regularly listen to this album, it screams the 2000s and I just love the feel of it. Sure, it’s not the best mix, but I kinda love it for that. It’s so raw and it hits differently. My favorite is always going to be AJFA, and I love 72 as well as DM, but I would probably put this album as #4 or #5 of my favorites.
My best friend like St. Anger, so you’re not alone. As for myself, I don’t hate it, but it is my least favorite. It is an interesting record, both musically and in terms of how it ended up the way it did. If they hadn’t made this, they’d have broken up and I never would’ve gotten to see them, and no Death Magnetic, Hardwired, or 72 Seasons.
Count me in! I even made a petition some years back and it's still going, which is for Metallica to play the whole album live for a concert
These songs sound so much better live. Hopefully some day they'll release this as a full album release, sometime in the future. Thanks for the music Metallica. You want heavy baby, we'll give you heavy!!!!!!!!!
Sweet Amber is one of the best songs ever for sure
This kicked ass, great listen. Thanks much! Tallica!
2:09 James laughing at Kirk’s vocals is hilarious
And it wasn't even that bad but still funny lmao
Nah, timing was off i think he did laugh for that
He’s not great but he means well
@@eyekantspele He’s trying his best and that’s all that matters
Cookie Monster on backing vocals!
My favourite album of Metallica ❤
oh nah
@@Zlgz1First time I heard this album is when my friend had bought it right away the video version.
First impressions were: WHAT THE FUCKED UP IS THIS NO LEAD SHREDDINGS???
As 2003 rolled past, Patrick Roy ELIMINATED IN OT by a BUNCH of NOTHINGS INVENTED by Jaques Lemaires ROBOTS in Minnesota.
But as I EVENTUALLY got over Patrick Roys final game AGAINST ROBOTIC players, I started enjoying UNCONVENTIONAL shredless leads of this album.
There are CLASSIC Metallica songs of this album just like Load and REload.
@@raantaas96 ye but it is still objectively their worst even tho there are some classic songs on it
@@Zlgz1 I still like songs from every Metallica album.
I listened to 72 Seasons album once, I liked some of them. I can enjoy most songs of all their albums.
Most impressive is how they did All Within My Hands with a straight face all the way through
😐
You still are like My family!!!!!❤🎉
I'm the only one in the world who likes "Invisible Kid"
I love it too! I hope they play it in front of a crowd one day!
Thanks 🤟👍
Kirks vocals are like Groucho mixed with Eddie Murphy
Lol
People hating on St. Anger, Load and Reload but if it wouldn't have been Metallica ''albums'' but instead another bands. They would be so fucking admired. But all ''fans'' are obsessed with the older stuff that they can't like anything different tho it's ass kicking albums.
Sweet!
Very!
Amber
Eu amo esse álbum 🤘🇧🇷🇧🇷
Honestly I don’t get why The Unnamed Feeling doesn’t get any love, such a great fucking song and also Invisible Kid is a great song. So underrate.
How cool to see bob rock playin bass on dirty window and enjoying himself, these songs kick ass live. St anger would be a sic album with abit of trimming.
Absolutely. Trim it down a bit and use the drum sounds from 72 Seasons album. Next month is the 20th anniversary of st anger. Maybe we get a nice remastering?
st anger live on the rain, so fucking epic
Lars went ballistic live on that album🔥
Nice 👍🏻
Thanks ✌️
Unnamed feeling sounds great Live
Imagine this with today's production that Metallica has.
Should be their staple in set list
They've never played live the album version of the AWMH song. It always was a heavily modified acoustic version.
The last time they've played it though, in december 2022 it was a full electric guitar set... but keeping all the modifications they made to the song on the acoustic version.
I guess even them had to acknowledge something was very wrong with the album version to the point they always felt like modifying it when they played it live!
And the live version they made of it is awesome, I wish it could have sounded this way on the album!
The unnamed feeling, some kind of monster, and shoot me again need to make the set more. Most underrated songs on that album.
This is the chef’s kiss version
Absolutely
How about makimg one of these for Death Magnetic ....
22:28 Omnious I'm in us!! That part gives me goosebumps 🤘
Am I the only one, who likes this version of all within my hands more than the original
I don't know if it's because of the time we had been waiting for something new from Metallica, or because it had a touch of nü metal (which I was listening to a lot at that time), or because of the time of my life, or maybe because of all of that together, but I loved that record at the time and every time I listen to it I relive that 2003 like Some Kind of Monsteeeurrrrah.
i still play a bunch of these riffs warming up 😌
Love it from cover 2 cover ❤📒✊
Kill'Em All.
St.Anger.
Hit the Light, The Four Horsemen, Motorbreat, Anastesia, Phantom Lord, No Remorse, Sick & Destroy, Metall Militia.
Metallica.
51:51 "Pam - pa - pam-pam y-goo good mine !" bahhhhahah !
I used to listening St Anger during playing Diablo 2 😅 with my assasin, max speed, lets go!!!
Robert Trujillo fue el que más disfrutó
They need to rerecord and remaster St.Anger
All within my hands sounding way better than on album!
Also, look at the weather for the 019 (edit: Manchester) show, lol raining like a bitch, but they dont run for cover, metal-ist metal band thats ever metal-ed!
Epic. Just epic
I was there as it was my hometown show. It's the most rain I've ever seen at a show and it didn't slow them down at all, just made the whole thing feel even more epic!
I was there! Got absolutely drenched. Look up their performance of Master of Puppets from that show though. Lars is pounding those drums and the water is flying everywhere. Was a great show and I loved when they played St. Anger.
The little solos Kirk throws in work really well. Don't know why they didn't try harder to make them work when they wrote and recorded the album.
Man James sing better now than 2004
He’s gotten better!
@@eyekantspele Absolutely! That's how true legends are made 🤘🏻💪🏻
Sweet Amber 🥰😍😘 (50:30)
"How sweet are you, how sweet does it get!?"
Love invisible kid
Wait, Bob Rock AND Rob Trujillo are playing on the live Dirty Window. That's cool as fuck lol. I almost never see double bass guitar's live and that is so cool considering they both helped make the St. Anger songs what they are now
The best Frantic version is from Big Day Out Australia
Sweet Amber.
they should play these songs more. gets the crowd moving
I fucking need to hear The Unnamed Feeling live in the M72 2023/24 tour... album turns 20 years now:(
St. anger packs so much punch. Metallica fans can be real cunts over their music sometimes. It’s honestly an album I listen to when my life gets dark for a bit. It helps exorcise some demons.
Fun fact, people called them sell outs when Ride the Lightning came out because of Fade to Black.
St angert 🔥👏👏👏👏
GREAT SONG!
Wish they'd quit listening to the fans and play more off st anger this album is amazing!
My favorite Metallica LP
Best Album ever
Underrated!
Sweet Amber is the star of the St Anger album
They without a doubt NEED to play Purify live at least once!!
My lovely album!
It’s good!
St Anger is amazing!!!
its the notes in between that are fckin with me 😒😒😒😒😒
I dont know why but most concerts i remember from St Anger days are in Germany
when listen 72 seasons, you know than St. Anger was a GREAT ALBUM
i like the album too despitet he poor sound, but live it's even better. very heavy for the most part, pure anger
Yup
I watched the SKOM docu first and then listened to the album without any background of what people were saying. Imagine my confusion when I found out people hate it, I loved the album from the very first listen(maybe because of the sentimental value from knowing the background story) but nonetheless I still don't get where the hate is coming from.
The general consensus's number 1 complaint about the album is the snare sounding like a garbage can. The number 2 complaint is the lack of solos. They state those discontents, looking to sway those who actually like it for what it is to hate it, too, and it pisses 'em off when the rest of us don't follow suit.
I like the album simply because it's different and it reflects on what they were going through as a band and as human beings at the time the album was conceived, which would make it a personal album for some, depending on who you ask. Remember: The ones that publicly complain about 'St. Anger' are the same ones that complained about the 'Black Album', 'Load' and 'Reload' and everything post-'Justice', as well as the band cutting their hair under the guise that the hair makes music enjoyable.
While they're entitled to hate it, the rest of us are entitled to love it. Besides, Metallica has ALWAYS played what they want however they want without any regard to what anyone thought and has continued to do so for the last 40+ years. So, they can keep singing the same old song they've been singing for the last 30+ years while I enjoy the evolved variety that is Metallica.
Wished they played the original awmh
Would love to see it one day
This could happened for the anniversary (2003-2023) :D
