Best video on RUclips in relation to tearing down a Gu rear diff. Simple and straight to the point. We love it
Cheers!
I know so many guys who didn’t follow your lead and just chucked on 35’s without changing, or checking anything. Thanks for showing us how it should be done 👍
Nice edit and production
Cheers guys. Exactly what I was after. My rear diff is full of glitter, and I am now confident I can buy a new centre and get it sorted myself.
just watched your 4 videos, excellent, well made, well edited, spot on mechanical skills, as a diesel mechanical myself, i could not fault any of your work. well done fellas. it's handy having a good friend helpin out on such jobs.
Awesome stuff, thanks mate.
I personally don't have any need to change a diff but, found the video very interesting to watch, I think I could do one myself now :-)
I'm doing this in a couple weeks. Really excited
Great great great. Can now do my patrol diff. Thanks
The old driveway service. Love it
oldmate haha yep, real comfortable sliding around underneath a car on a skate.
thanks for video ! ;-)
Hey guys love ya videos
Looking forward on rebuilding the diff on my second-hand GU Patrol, thanks for the motivation, keep them vids coming mate cheers 👍😁
At about 4.14 you mention refilling with 80w-90 gear oil.. That's generally the front and not the rear as the rear needs an 85w-140.
Though you did mention earlier that you had no lsd in the rear so that would otherwise make sense.
Nick correct
@@ShiftyMrJooSh not only 85w-140 but it also needs hypoid EP oil GL5 (not GL4 gear oil)
Will you do a overview/in-depth look at the big GU? Would be keen to see what mods you have done to it since you have had it etc and share info about the 4.2. Loving the channel, Cheers
Yea man, rig overviews will be happening in the near future.
And so you changed the rear diff ratio, what about the front diff ratio? Jimmy!
Yes
80/90 isnt enough for nissan lsd. They require 85/140. I found that out the hard way as 80/90 toasted my diff
Yeah was that LSD oil also?
Totally agree 140
Hey mate I have a question about your speed/gear/rpm recordings?
Is this the speed displayed on the cluster or a gps speed taken to counter for the tyre increase ?
...and the front diff?
Hey mate, great video!
Was curious, what size rims and whats the offset? Wanting to get myself a set of steelies but confusing with all the diff offset options
Thanks Richard. These are 16inch rim and 0 offset. hope that helps
i have just fitted 35s to my 4.5lt auto gu wagon, currently running the stock diff ratio of 4.11, what would the best ratio be to upgrade too 4.3 or 4.6? after better fuel economy and better take off.
Cheers
Erkan Mehmet couldn't give you an exact answer on the 4.5l but you will find it a lot easier to get off the line especially towing. As for fuel economy, you won't benefit at all.
Where would you find 4.3 ratios for the H260 rear pumpkin on the TB45E?
hi mate need help have long wheel based rd 28 14991 nissan patrol exhaust has broken right next to the flexi pipe on front part can it be welded or where do i remove it from as it looks like i need to remove the base protection plates big old things is it after the first box or before the first box i remove it . also when installing servo for brakes do i need to push down on brakes when inserting the brake fluid holder back on or just install them normaly thank you in advance
Not too sure without looking at it Dave. Apologies for the lack of help.
4.11 would be more than enough. I did 4.6 with 35s and it was way too much with less td42 turbo
Can you remove wheel bearings and replace or you need a professional to do it??
No ben, you can do it all. We believe in you.

Why are you naked and barefoot under the car? I feel that this is dangerous for you. Safety precautions are required...
