Here come all the trolls who are in love with this grot 😂 I’ve been to abandoned buildings in better condition than this! Take a look on points camber sands Facebook page. You will see hundreds of complaints, dirty rooms etc. This place was not a holiday at all! Very depressing atmosphere.
Wish I'd seen this before we went in August. It's everything you say here and more. Did you get the pissed-up chavs shouting, swearing, fighting and having parties in their chalets til all hours of the morning?? Left after 2 nights (out of 4) as couldn't bear another minute. Never again!! Thanks for posting.

I used to work at pontins with a friend, it was way back in the 80s, we worked, Monday through Friday and had the weekend off, every 2 to 3 weeks, my friend and I would go back home to stay with our families, then when Sunday came around, my dad would drop us off to catch a coach provided by pontins for their staff to bring them back to the resort, it was roughly a couple of hours journey, I can remember my friend and I would be miserable 😩 on the coach going back, we were quite depressed at the thought of having to go back there, we wouldn’t talk to each other, usually my friend and I laughed a lot together but, on that coach, knowing where we heading, I would sit on one side of the coach, my friend the opposite side, we would just stare out of the window, upon arriving at pontins, the coach driver would shout, “all those wanting to be dropped of at Alcatraz, we’re nearly there,” (for those who don’t no what Alcatraz is, Alcatraz was a huge prison on a island surrounded by water, it housed the worst of the worst criminals, had terrible conditions in side and was impossible to escape from) obviously the coach driver was being sarcastic, but, pontins was the worst job I ever had, it was depressing, the only reason I went back was, because I was in my early 20s, lived at home with my parents and, my parents insisted that I had a job and pay rent...obviously I paid rent when I lived at home, when at pontins for the summer work I didn’t, my parents were strict that way plus, I’m glad they were because it taught me the facts of getting my own property, and how to cope when one flies the nest, I now own a house in New York, with my American husband, originally I was born and bred in Leeds West Yorkshire, UK. Anyway the ending of my pontins story is quite hilarious, my friend got sacked for punching her supervisor, I have no idea why she punched her and, neither does my friend, there was a staff party and everyone was blathered, once my friend had gone, it wasn’t the same, so, I packed up my stuff one weekend, told everyone plus my manager that I’d see them Monday, I knew I wasn’t going back, I just prayed my parents would understand, my parents did understand but, I did have to look for other work,

The decline on Pontins holiday camps started when the Pontins family sold them in the 80s.
I worked at Camber Sands 1969 & 1970 and it was brilliant for the campers and the staff. 802 chalets and all full every week.
This video has sold it for me, (especially the first 5 minutes) Camber Sands here we come!!

Pontins is an 80s abandoned council estate with cheaply bought entertainment that's overpriced, prove me wrong.
I agree totally! I went there with friends for 2 nights during the 90's it was like that then....and that was over 20 years ago!! Other than the beach, Alcohol was the only comfort lol.

Sad. Obvisioly not enough visitors and therefore not enough money to hire enough staff for repairs and maintenance. A down spiral. Next year go back and do a abandoned video.

Just came back from pontins prestatyn. The kids absolutely loved it. Cheap no frills holiday as we had our holiday abroad cancelled twice already. Our apartment was clean but very backdated. I will be going again for sure. Good video though 😊

I went to pontins camber sands as a kid back in 1985 & it’s surreal seeing this.
The inside of the apartments, the bedroom, bunk beds and the boating pond outside, memories flashed back I forgot I even had

I felt like I was in a prison camp... I cried the first night because I was so shocked of how bad the chalet looked
Pontins is literally aimed at the lowest end of the market. It was very famously described as an old rundown council estate home from home for its customer base lol

I stayed in a chalet exactly the same as this one in 2005 with my Dad and brother but it was at a
holiday park in Devon. Can't remember which park it was but our apartment was cleaner.
It wasn't bad for a holiday that was advertised in the papers apart from having to share a room
with my Dad and endure his snoring! I prefer Haven's holiday parks.
They don’t give the cleaners enough time. It’s been the same problem for years and they haven’t done anything about it. They just need to give the place a big clean up and sort it all out.
Is that why the accomodation at Pontin's is often messy?
I stayed at Pontins in Blackpool several times in the 90's and found it clean & tidy always..
I just came back from here monday I was in block thirteen and in my room it sounded like rats in the walls and there were spiders everywhere we were meant to book the caravan park next door as we loved it when we went in june, we did bring a big bag of cleaning stuff😬 x

Hi Lucy, I came to have a look after you left a comment on my video, and I remembered watching this one before we visited. Thankfully we had a very different experience - walking into this would have been a nightmare. I think they have tidied the resort up a bit since you were there three years ago and it's not quite so derelict chic now, but there is definitely still room for a lot of improvement 😉

No just being friendly for the camera. i`m afraid society has made everyone fearful of being called a "dirty old man" These days male presenters have to stand an arm's length away from a woman or the "me too" harridans will accuse him of sexual harassment.

used to go to camber in the late fifties and sixties before this place was built, just the fantastic beach and sand dunes then it was great

Ive been to this site many times and to be fair to your experience the whole site needs a deep clean, maintenance while you're staying there is unfortunate. Ive been to private events there when you only need a pit to sleep in and somewhere to store your things! It's not Butlins, you pay for what you get, check out time at Butlins I saw at least 200 cleaners pour through the back gate, Pontins you'll have maybe 6 cleaners for possibly 60 chalets?? There's no comparison, I recommend save up and do Butlins, there's a hotel , spa and an amazing swimming pool at the Bognor site!

So this year I went on Holiday to Pontins In Brean And I immediately regretted it, so I came with my younger cousins and my uncle and online we were told that me and my Dad were allowed to check in earlier. WELL WE COULD NOT BLOODY CHECK IN UNTIL 4PM. And my Cousins somehow managed to check in first, we booked two chalets and my chalet was unbelievably Disgusting. There was stains all over the walls and beds. Broken Bin. Water Temperature Failure. Soap Dispenser Broken. And more... Never go to pontins

My family member took me to Camber Sands. Once I asked her "why is the non-club rooms messed up?" She told me that the club rooms are more expensive so the non-club rooms are dirty because they cost less".
I live in the red rooms whenever I come to Pontins and it's amazing!

Been to Pontins Camber a few times, either for rhythm riot weekend or rockabilly rave. Luckily at those out of season there are distractions if the form of meeting up with friends, bands and DJs dancing all night, shopping for vintage clothing generally s rockin' good time. I would never opt to go there on holiday and wouldn't dream of taking children there. The Chalets are filthy, and cold. I always used to take a sleeping bag. If you book anything other than deluxe accommodation you spend a fortune on topping up the electricity meter. The food in the self service restaurant is just about passable, but you are better off eating off site.
The cost of a holiday there is grossly over priced of course. I really don't understand why people go when you could go to Benidorm for the same money.
That's Pontins crossed off my list. That's why I ended up getting a tourer because the amount of times I have booked a uk holiday either a caravan or apartment and the accommodation is nothing like the brochure just filth. I normally request a refund and leave. Havens, Parkdean etc they are all the same. The worst place we stayed was Richardsons Hemsby we are still getting over that and that was 12 years ago lol

I used to work at camber sands in the 80's, how bad that place looks its shameful, I was a cleaner and we littler picked every day, I guess they put their money into the main building and other areas but left the chalets to deteriorate. great video.. 😉

It was our holiday to Pontins Wick Ferry in 1994 was when we first saw Pontins going downhill - Brean sands 1995 was our last Pontins holiday

I went to pontins about three years ago and we booked the posh ones and my little brother looked at me with horror and disbelief and said this shit hole is the same as it was in the 90s! He didn't understand why I was laughing at him

Me too. The first thing I'd cry about is me having to spend extra money on cleaning products, new bedsheets, cheap pillow, and perhaps a plastic bed wrap. My first day would be spent on fixing the hotel room. I couldn't even let the kids go out on their own because the grounds are dangerous.

Went here twice last year with the kids. Its mainly for the kids entertainment.. and they enjoyed it despite the state and the downfall of the place, however.. have booked Parkdean this year 🤣
been here multiple times and it was lovely, chalet was clean,staff were amazing and the hygiene was great. I’m going again in a weeks time and obviously it will be more clean due to the pandemic. i’m so confused how it looked like this for you!

Did you report the gaping hole to the management and what happened? We stayed there in the early 80s, the entertainment staff who were mainly young adults were fantastic, spent most of my time playing Defender in the arcade
I wouldnt stay here again if you paid me! I stayed at this park for a week a few years ago and our apartment was exactly like this. Dirty and unloved. Pontins are such a poor company compared to other places. Dont be temtped by their cheap prices, they are cheap for a reason. Great video and very helpful to point things out. I cannot believe how the workmen left the bathroom. You were paying guests and that is absolutely disgusting!

I can't believe how bad the hotel room is; How did they not get sued, yet? Black mold is enough to get closed down by a HUGE law suite, right there! There is a slumlord, operating this place.

As a child growing up in the 60s to 70s Pontins were so well looked after and clean but since they are now owned not by Pontins but by Forte Hotels I would not even ask my enemy to stay in the rooms I live near Brean Sands I have been to Camber Sands in the old days

This is some info about the owners of it 'Britannia Hotels' and the fact that the CEO doesn't even pay any tax in the UK. So every-time someone spends their money at Pontins, the profits go into his pocket and nothing comes back into the UK economy. Shocking !!

I had the misfortune to stay overnight at the Britannia in Didsbury back in 2010. We were flying out from Manchester to Italy for our honeymoon. The room was ok if dated, but the receptionist failed to book in our wake up call and forgot to add us (and many other customers) to the airport coach transfer list. We ended up having to book our own taxi and race around the M60 to get to the airport ourselves. We got to check in with minutes to spare...they were literally calling our names over the tannoy.
😂😂😂 Looks 5 ⭐ What do you expect from a Pontins Holiday ? It's like Butlins unless you go ultra posh. For what you paid for that you could go somewhere hot & sunny 👍😊

The main issue is cleanliness and general maintenance, it's not an expensive holiday, they provide very cheap no frills holidays for people who probably can't afford an all inclusive family holiday in Spain, but they treat there guests like they are catel. If they sorted those 2 massive issues then they wouldn't have so many complaints, yes they probably do need rebuilding but if brittania hotels aren't willing to invest the least they can do is sort the smaller things out and provide a clean resort for people to have a cheap holiday

11:35-12:07 Was shower and toilet block for staff and the white building with the little windows was staff quarters.
If you have ever watched "Hi de hi " these are the same type of rooms for staff quarters. (two people to a room)
This was known as "Frog alley" due to in the summer due to the 1,000s of frogs you could hear at night around this area.

Some holiday resorts such as Butlins etc have kept up with the times, same as Centre Parcs.
Many resorts are very modernised and ultimately the good ones outweigh the bad, the problem is that the bad ones get more press imo.
Butlins centre parcs even haven are not even comparable to this, Butlins spends millions every year on making sure the place stays up to date, they just spent 40 million on there new swimming pool at bognor Regis, the 3 hotels there aswell, and brand new refurbished accomodation every 10 years or so, and they are almost always clean, and if they weren't and u complain they send someone round within an hour to sort out any issues, pontins on the other hand has owners who don't care about the brand and it's image, they do the bare minimum to pass any inspections and to keep the entertainment license, and are using it as a cash cow, eventually it will lose money and they will no doubt sell it off for a pound, hopefully Bourne leisure, the owner of Butlins and haven buys it out like they should have done in 2010 and refurbish it and improve them, if not then I will

Try centre parcs , much nicer , kids will have a great time , I went as a kid and now take my kids , they love it

Pontins Southport is the same; very grotty, outdated looking, somewhat dirty looking chalets (though I wouldn't say "disgusting" like some say as if the place is full of cockroaches) with dirty floors, staff that can't be bothered and mostly full of scally riff raff families from the slum areas of Liverpool who go there for a cheap holiday. I went there recently and the place was packed, so that says something.
If Parkdean bought the place they would turn it into another expensive holiday resort. I can go abroad on a 14 night stay, full board, to Spain for less than it costs to stay for 4 nights in a caravan at Haven or Parkdean, and you get the weather too.
My biggest annoyance with Pontins, though maybe a problem with these holiday parks in general, is the bloody Bingo. They put about an hour of Bingo on when there are children everywhere and put all the characters and entertainment on at the end.
So funny I cried.

Oh god. Hemsby was bad enough. Damp sheets on the bunk bed, Coin meters that didn't give much time to use much. Also entertainment was limited when aged 8-14 years old.

Its just as dirty and grotty as when I worked there. Left because I put my foot on a broken manhole cover hidden in the grass. They obviously couldnt have cared less, it stayed that way all summer.

I went there a few years ago, they still make you use a meter for electricity, there was nothing but a fold out bed and an original tv, there was all skrtskf crap floating in the pool and the paintwork looked like it had been blasted by a machine gun. Horrible place

Very informative Thank-you. That is absolutely disgusting. I have had the most terrible experiences with Britania hotels. Absolute filth and it stank. I came here in 2000 it was not diety then. Still basic. they were a bit shoddy on the outside but nothing like this. It is no wonder these places are always empty they won't spend a penny. There is no excuse regarding the cleanliness they don't care and that is evident too by those workmen leaving the bath like that. It's an absolute shame upkeep and eagerness should have been kept like 60s and 70s. Its heartbreaking to see. I was watching an abandoned Pontins. Britanica brought it on themselves spend the money on the properties you got not buying more...disgusting greediness.

I stayed there on a school trip in 2015 and it was terrible! Horrid food, less than forgettable rooms, dirty toilets, incredibly loud late at night. Honestly, if you have common sense, don’t go there.

I do have to say though, the rubbish probably isn't all the parks fault, neither is the broken fences or the hole. it is probably kids messing around breaking things and throwing litter everywhere. I've seen a fee boys who looked about 14-16 kicking the fences and dropping litter wherever they want. it's quite sad actually to see how much this place has gone down over the years, we used to love coming here and had so much fun in the entertainment. I also have to say that although they could and should fix it, I'm not entirely sure that it's the staffs fault that there is such easy access to that big open door from the 'wildlife garden' people could have tried to get in and over time so many people have tried it that it's just a path now.
Fact... people need to start smashing their kids again they get away with everything. Sitting them on a step for time out dose fuck all

I was a Bluecoat at this site for part of the 1990 season. You think the campers' chalets were bad - you should have seen the rooms we had! Worse that a squat. Absolutely filthy and covered in mould with holes in the walls and windows. Staff catering gave me food poisoning - even though I'm a vegetarian! I lasted five weeks. It was awful. £69.20 for working up to 90 hours a week. It was also a really toxic environment.

I went there 31/07/20. I am not being unfair when i say that the place needs knocking down . The accommodation is time warped and no different from when i was there as a kid in 1980 . The gutters are falling down or full of grass and the windows are disgusting . It is like a council estate in Peckham . I stayed nearly one night but left at 6 in the morning after a bad night and being woken by gulls. No masks no covid awareness and unsafe .

I havent been but my friend has and they were in a “really nice room” supposedly however it had a wasp nest in it so they moved them to the standard rooms which had a massive hole in one of the matresses

We went every year in the 80s and early 90s as kids. Then to drum and bass wkenders in the 2000s. Wouldnt go now tho. Needs a good refurb

well.. we went there - jesus .. there was mould on the filthy net curtains, there was an actual turd in the carsey, it was disgusting it really was unbelievable, you just couldn't make it up, you wouldn't be able to make somewhere this bad unless you hated holidaymakers
