The food at the hotel was dreadful. We had green beans in oil as a starter for 4 days running - ugh. I ended up walking into the old town of Benidorm for a couple of days in order to get some decent food which I did. I have never been back since.

My favorite parts are the frogs in the pools in Bulgaria and all of Britannia Airways’ meals being only chicken curry and rice! If I hadn’t found the woman’s account of the curry as her and her family’s only meal at the airport and her flight, I wouldn’t have sworn to this day as a Filipinx-American that I would NEVER EVER complain about having packaged pancit (ramen in Filipinx style) and sandwiches made from the bread and cold cuts served in the continental and complementary breakfasts as most of the meals in my subsequent vacations ever again!!! 😂😂😂

Moral of this story : Avoid Bulgaria completely, and don't go to Cuba, the Caribbean, Florida etc between May 1st and October 31st, because that's hurricane season. The weather is very hot and it rains almost every day. Hard. It's all also highly likely that you'd experience thunderstorms.

The internet and modern TV has removed regional accents. 20 years ago people only really hung around and stuck to their own area, which in England a few miles down the road there's a different accent. Alot of that has died, especially in London as all the small town and regions get merged and congealed together. We've lost alot of individual articulation and mashed together many to make the one we hear now
I think that if you go to Havanna to get to know how the people live there and learn something about the language and history of the place you will have more chance of a worthwhile holiday than those who just go there for the sun and the beach and yes preferably all inclusive where they can shove as much food down their gullets as possible without vomiting and get pissed with the booze "because it is all included in the price we paid".

Never met so many friendly people in my life and sooo clean.

Travel, especially overseas travel, is horrendous these days, not relaxing like it used to be, just one uncomfortable and nerve rattling happening after the other. I actually think the airlines and most countries have contempt now for tourists and seem to go out of their way to just get as much money from you as they can and then turnaround and make your life just as miserable as they can.
I started travelling overseas 5 years ago and its the best!! Was treated amazingly in all countries!! Maybe its becauseim Australian? Ironically England was my least favourite country to visit. Too cold and the food was awful!

There are other British airlines that are at least 10 times better than this one: British Airways, Easyjet, Monarch, Flybe and Jet2.com. The only issues I've had with them is the cramped conditions with budget airlines and their turnarounds which are so short they always end up with their last few flights everyday being late but the biggest delay was because of Spanish air traffic control going on their 365 day long strike again.

I think i am abnormal, as i have really no desire to travel overseas. I sure would love to do a U.S. car road trip or two. Go to roadside attractions and folk art environments, like whirligig gardens and houses made of bottles, etc.
If i go to Havana, i will buy art, go to museums, tour the exciting restoration of old buildings, meet artists, craftspeople, and musicians. That is the true experience, to me. And a way to help the local economy.

I honestly feel for that family who got stuck in the airport for 20 hours. I can relate to it, my mom, myself and my two cousins were stuck in Newcastle Airport back in 2008 for six hours when we were on our way to start our holiday in Portaventura.
I have never been as unfortunate or in as much bad luck at these. Only in 02' a hurricane was blowing in amsterdam so i was stuck in detroit. But NWA and KLM kept their word and we got home after. Had to lose a transfer with Sas once, they acknowledged their fault but would not cover extras so i went to a specialist and got more than what my ticket cost. Being crafty and thinking fast is a goode trade today
Watched a stupid television series called Benadorm. I live in South Africa but my sons live in the UK but I remember my Brit friends saying that I must watch it. Gave it a good 3 attempts but didn't get to the end of any. No humour, useless acting but a great sedative Zzzzz
