Heres a little video for those of you that have shown an interest in our past videos of the abandoned Pontins camp at Hemsby in Norfolk. Join us as we take a look back at it in its heyday and through the last years of its being derelict until now where is currently being part demolished and refurbished to create many new affordable homes using the original chalets and facilities.
We hope you enjoyed our little video.
If you would like to help our channel continue to grow and improve by making a small donation or become a Patreon please take a look at our links, we would be incredibly grateful. Kind regards Em and Stu 😊

I worked summer seasons here in 1995 and 1997 as a musician. It was my first time working professionally as a musician. We had to play two sets of cover tunes every night plus backing the caberet of the day, which involved sometimes some difficult sight reading. The caberet acts consisted of singers, comedians, ventriloquists, hypnotists and unicyclists.
When I arrived, I discovered my childhood freind was the childrens clown, which is hilarious because he didn't have a lot of patience for kids. It was just like HiDiHi. (He suddenly had an abrupt career change a couple of years later and became a professional cyclist for Britain and would later become a coach.)
What a laugh. The best bit was that I didnt have to pack my drums up after the gig. They stayed on stage for the season. We would stagger back to our shalieghs every night, or back to someone elses.

Wondering if this holiday camp started off as a P.O.W., Army or RAF facility as some of them did post war. Some even retained their barbed wire perimeters and guard rooms, which always strikes me as funny to think holiday makers kept prisoner during their holidays and forced to do things like P.E. exercises before breakfast!
Also discovered Hemsby was once targeted by Vikings in search of precious materials and slaves!
Sad to think a place that gave parents and children such pleasure is no more, but hopefully happy memories for those once holidaying there, and the staff who ran it.

Apparently British holidays are back, and not enough housing to accommodate. It's almost impossible to book a stay. People complaining of too many houses etc, yet reaped the awards when it was Pontins, of the business gained. It will have its own leisure centre, I'm. Sure it will have its surgery and convenience store, cafes, bars/pub Then residents will complain that no one is using the village facilities?? .

How on earth is Hemsby to cope when all these houses are complete? The village hasn’t got the resources for this amount of new housing and what the families will bring, regardless of the new shops etc the developers say they’re going to build. Only got to see previous developments where doctors surgeries, shops, green areas were promised and none of this has been done, it’ll just be yet another masssive estate of houses with very little green space per property.
