Emotional... i still work with Pontins and it sadness me to think this was once a place people saved there money and looked forward to visiting for the BIG holiday...
Great but Sad Footage
I'm sorry to see this, having been a Bluecoat here in 98 I have very different memories of the place when it was full of life and not graffitied or derelict at all [although it was never a palace]it was once loved and well cared for and hundreds upon thousands of families built excellent holiday memories here. I had heard it had become a Warner Holiday Village, now it looks like something out the film district 9 and I keep expecting a prawn to appear in the doorway!
What a depressing video. As a kid I had six holidays in a row there (1976-1981) and loved every minute of it. So sad to see what's become of the place.
worked there in 1970,Great times!!!Fabulous workmates.Friday (payday)afternoons in the pub were legend!Sad to see it like this, but the memories remain.
Thank you for your comment Jennie, always interesting to hear from someone that was there when it was still open. As you say, it is quite a transformation to see it now.
The site is still awaiting redevelopment, though I understand that the swimming pool has now been filled in.
Thanks for the video. It's very sad to see the place like this. I have found memories after having many holidays here as a child
That was so sad. I worked there for 3 seasons between 1984 to 1988. The place was vibrant especially with Angel in charge of entertainment! I run the cafe there and was a superviser in the Restaurant, happy, happy times, always thought I'd like to go back and vist but now I'm not so sure.
Very sad the way it ended up. Had some great family holidays there. I see that the site is now being returned to nature. I will have to visit Jersey again and take a trip to Plemont Bay!
Worked there in the summer of 1980. Sad to see the place as dilapidated as it is today but I've got some great memories of that summer. Good movie mate.
hi I worked there in late 70s. was there for the season. I was a Waiter. had a real blast. so many friends I made. wonder if anybody who's watching this video , was their at the same time as me. good to go down memory lane.
Thanks for your comments, always interesting to hear from someone that either stayed or worked at the holiday village.
Thanks for your comment Tony, must have been amazing up there in the 80's, so many people must have passed though the doors for their annual holiday.
Thanks for your comments, good that it has brought back some memories.
Thanks for your comment, it is always interesting to hear from people that worked there.
Excellent. Sad and at times eerie. Good use of music. Particularly liked the indoor filming and the pool shots.

Hard to believe whilst watching the video that everything on that site at one point was brand new.
@Urkmigraft Many thanks for your comment, always interesting to hear from someone that either worked or stayed here. I presume the staff chalets were the ones set at the back on the entertainment complex, two rows of them?
Says it all....the transience of everything! Moving video and mood music, thanks for posting.
This is very sad. To think that it's decayed so much. I was a blue here in 97 and I remember it so differently. Lots of fun and laughter. Would have liked to have seen my old chalet - no, on second thoughts it would be horrible and broken.
Wonder if my old blue coat chums hae seen this?
I remember Portelet, that was equally creepy. Great video.
I'm just so amazed at how quickly these places get taken over by mindless vandalism, why do they do it ?! I love how nature takes back the land too. Went here in 1990 but don't remember much about the place except the fact the world cup was on and we watched it in our rooms. Must dig out the old pictures.
Thanks for your comment Mark, the place does look so sad, like a ghost town now.
Excellent video , brings back lots of memories .
I wouldn't have walked around that place on my own. Ok years ago it was most likely full to the rafters with holiday makers and people having good times there but it looks so creepy, i think if i'de walked around filming that place i would have chickened out within minutes. Good film footage though, i like to watch things like this when something as been empty for years.
I live here in jersey but I'm only 13 and never got to experience this place :(. I wish that the states and the heritage or whoever would just give planning permission to build a bigger and better one...it would get our tourism back as it probably wouldn't be as expensive as butlins, even tho mr butlins wife or himself came over to open it or something like that back then :/. I hope the future contains some fun for us kids craving the happy Holliday village :/
Soon to be demolished as planning permission now granted for number of houses at this remote location.
those were the days, how things have changed
If anyone read the video notes it said on 4th January 2014 a serious fire occurred in the entertainment/dining block. anyone know the cause I am going to google but the chances of finding my answer are slim because it closed down 14 years before or whatever thanks just like knowing because im weird
+Kyle Dawson (GoldenKittyCat) Ok so I was able to find out UNEXPECTABLY but because it was not a urgent thing (there was no one inside to save) they A. Put the fire out without bothering of urgencies and B. The damage is too high to find out
How Did you get in to the camp ?? it looked fenced off???
Hi i was just wondering if you could tell me what the piano music is called on your vid just after the ghost town song or where i could get a copy best regards chris.
Jersey image; please can you tell me the name of the piece of music that follows the song Ghosttown?Nice video.
Does anyone know what the piece of music is in this video after Ghost Town?
Please if anyone knows let me know?
gutted i was the lifeguard here in 1997 and 1998 amazing times what a shame no one else will be able to have the same laughs i had when i worked there what a waste
I'm not sure, possibly outside of Jersey there are some.
@vjhughes76 Interesting to here from you. You must find its changed so much Time has moved on, sad though to see the decay. Any interesting stories to add?
it's a shame that this place was left to rot when there are so many homeless people, so why couldn't they have been at lest given a roof over their heads is beyond my comprehension, it's not like they would be missing out, after all they did leave it to rot so money couldn't have been a priority to them
I can't remember, did this video sometime ago.
So sad :(
Can we still go their today like get in i soo wanna go but my parents wont take me LOL
Today there was a fire here so most of it has gone. :(
