Had many a happy holiday here as a kid. Its heyday was in the seventies . By the mid 80's itd lost its sparkle . Under Britannia groups ownership it stopped being maintained . The value being in the land not the resort on it . Sad to see it in this state but was inevitable given the state of the place recently .
I worked at Bracklesham Bay Pontins in the mid 80’s then went on to Butlins in Bognor. My Farther was friends with Fred Pontin. He’d be turning over in his grave!
Yeah that was my first thought the moment I saw this on the news, brittiania have obviously done a deal, get the park a multi million pound refit paid for by the tax payer, rent to the government for substantially more than they could make from holiday makers, again paid for by the tax payer plus no staff to pay, then once the immigrants have been given their free houses another free refit, again paid for by the tax payer and then start using it as a holiday camp again, except for more money because it's had a refit!
Ahhhhhh I bet it does . Same with Southport one !!! And ask nobody if they want hundreds of different cultures, and people from around the world on their doorstep
A ‘good’ Welsh Assembly that keeps banging on about how patriotic it is and caring about Welsh people could actually snap this up, spend some money and create it into a NHL style funded retirement village for its elderly. The bare bones are there. Integrate a shop, medical centre and visiting specialists and a few leisure facilities and bang you can house a few hundred or even a couple of thousand. Less stressful than sticking them in isolated estates.
Could use this make in council housing or community for elderly or disabled people make in bungalow free up some of the houses for family s we need think of uk helping england Ireland Scotland and Wales love help the world when are own people got no where to go not fair xx
Spent 1 Christmas there a few years ago. Reminded me of a few Army training camps I spent some time in. Made the Oakhampton one from the 70s look like a 5 star camp.
Sad days. I have the best childhood memories from this place i shared with my old best mate who committed suicide years ago and was looking to maybe returning again to live a few cherished moments and memories i shared with him, sad to know i now aint guna be able to. The place has died with him now unfortunately,
What a shame, some great memories I have of that place taking my children when they was young for the big New Year’s Eve party/break they used to do, 2005-2013, by then it had started to get run down and wasn’t being run correctly so we started taking them to butlins for the New Year’s Eve events, was good fun though with them and great memories, they used to love it, especially the captain croc character 😁 shame to see it go really, but they for many years had not bothered to update/upgrade it and just ran it into the ground

I remember the pro/am snooker tournaments they used to run for a lot of years back in the day. What a shame it's closed. I only found out when I saw your video.
I went in the snooker hall in 2000, it was open & yet the roof was leaking & running down over the lights to the tables, it was a hazard, many good memories though from the 70s
@@cjmretro171 yea, the fences did look difficult, I grant you that. The owners can’t prosecute you for trespassing as it’s a civil offence, all they can do is warn you and ask you to leave the premises. 👍
It is so sad what they've done to pontins Prestatyn and sao Paul so much fun people are bad over the years not good people don't like people having fun anymore and pressed at it I hope they re gonna save the plaque what's on the wall from the on the buddy's team

I looked a week or so before they announced it had closed, and you could book for New Year there on their website.

It’s security manned at the main gate with signs saying trespassers can be prosecuted. Plus those fences aren’t easy to get over ;)

Britannia who own it says it was set to make a loss in 2024, and it was no longer viable to keep it open as a holiday park.
