    You don’t have to cook on foil. You can use a cake pan, loaf pan, stainless steel mixing bowl or a Pyrex baking dish. Thanks for the great looking recipe!

      A Pyrex baking dish inside the pressure cooker? My pressure cooker is not instant, is that ok to use it? Thank you for your prompt reply.

    • @OldAlabamaGardener
      @OldAlabamaGardener  5 лет назад +2

      @@jhennessyde-la-fuente7193 Yes, a Pyrex baking dish would be okay because if it can with stand the high heat of an oven, then it should be okay in the cooker.

    Hi, after watching this video I decided I would purchase an Instant Pot. I went to wallyworld and they were sold out of the 6 qt. A week later I found it.😆 $79.99 plus tax.
    After doing the trial run...one week later I am using it to cook a whole meal of potatoes, frozen green peas and meatloaf. I have 16 minutes of cook time left. So excited.
    I put frozen peas into a small stainless steel(ss) bowl. I mixed the meatloaf in the ss pot. Placed it in an aluminum pan from Dollar Tree. Put the bowl of peas in the IP. Added 1 and 1\4 cup water. Placed peeled, quartered potatoes around the bowl and placed the meatloaf in a cheap aluminum pan on top. It took nearly 30 minutes to seal and I set it for 34 minutes of cooking and will do a natural release. 9 cooking minutes left. So looking forward to my results. Thank you for the inspiration.

    his looks a like a new and quick way to make meatloaf. In my 48 years I never have liked meatloaf. Probably cause my mama always baked it in the oven and turned out to be a hard dry brick. cooking it this way I may even start to like meatloaf now. I may add mushrooms to the meat then top with brain boosting bolognese sauce.

    I cooked a 2 lb.meat loaf in mine.45 mins. on high pressure in the steamer pan.cup of water in the bottom.At the end I let the pressure off .Well the meatloaf was luke warm didn't even burn my hand.Cool in the middle.I threw it away because 45 mins. no warmer than that I was afraid that it was spoiled.What do you thank?

    • @OldAlabamaGardener
      @OldAlabamaGardener  6 лет назад

      Guess I would have these questions: What type of cooker did you use? Was the meat frozen? And something didn't go right. For a2 pound meat loaf, it should have been falling apart done after 45 minutes. But as for it being okay to eat, I would have cooked it a different way and still used it.

    I got a kick out of how you pronounced Worcestershire sauce. I bought a Bella with a 6 qt no stick coating pot. I hope that with an insert using foil won't cause a problem for it. Can't wait to try this out. I've always used crackers or bread crumbs so it will be interesting to see how oats work. I happen to have a few packages of instant oats a friend gave me that I've yet to use.

      1/2 C tamarind pulp -if dried- use 1inch off the block w/hot water-stain
      1/2 C dates- place in hot water
      3 C water (use this with the above 2 ingredients
      1/2 C brown sugar - I used coconut sugar
      1/4 C cilantro
      1 cloves garlic large
      1/4 tsp salt
      1 Tbsp cashews
      Place all the ingredients in a vitamix after the tamarind block and dates have melted a bit.

    I just ordered my instant pot today! We love meatloaf but it usually takes an hour to in the oven so I will try this! I never thought to try cooking it in the instant pot thank you!!

    • @OldAlabamaGardener
      @OldAlabamaGardener  7 лет назад

      Vickie, thank you for commenting on this video. One point about the Instant Pot: It does not create a crust on top of the meatloaf, if you want that you will have to finish your meatloaf in an oven. But the taste is the same and the liquid in the pot can be used to make a gravy to serve with the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Please come back here after you make a meat loaf in your new Instant Pot and tell me how you liked it. Thanks for stopping by.

      Hi Cheryl, Are you getting snowed on tonight? On the Instant Pot, mine is not for canning, so, I have not tried it. Please be careful when canning! I don't know how you would know what the pressure is in one of these pots. And the correct pressure is what makes a canned vegetable safe. Thanks for commenting on this video.
