My son's mom was born in Cuba 🇨🇺 I love Cuban food I'm a Sicilian born in beautiful Bensonhurst Brooklyn still here Victor's Café in New York City is a Cuban restaurant and it's nice and Cuban Cafe' in Brooklyn all are very delicious beautiful video because me Nico Chaviano Toscani loves Cuban food ❤️
This is my go to spanish rice recipe. Simply amazing! Protip: Don't add salt until the end, the adobo, sazon, and chicken broth are salty enough for us.
Gracia Nydia!!!! I now live in NC and there is no sign of Cuban restaurant in sight!!!!! I've watching this video dozens of times and just discovered all of your other ones!!!!! Making all this deliciousness will make me feel closer to home!
Nothings makes us feel closer to home than food.. I left my beautiful Island 35 years ago.. but my culture and traditions are always preserved in my kitchen.. Thanks for writing to me and keep our traditions alive! XOXO Nydia
I used basmati for the lower carb load, and made this twice. Came out super really delicious, so much so that I'm making it again right now, and adding a 1pound of Florida Key West pink shrimp for the last 10 minutes. This recipe is 5 star restaraunt quality folks! I'm a chef, I know. 1 small change I made, 1 tsp turmeric. Uffffff! Heaven. Guys, make this, your women will re-fall back in love with you Lol! Serious, make this people at least once, it won't let you down. Ps, she is not clear on the temperatures: when you do the first 20 mins, use medium heat. Then after fluffing, add your protein and lower heat to low, check in 10 minute intervals until it's perfect! Disfrutes y'all!!!!!!!
I'm always so disappointed when I see cooking channel's try to do Cuban food They always seem to do something wrong and make it very Americanized I absolutely love your channel because you are so authentic! This is the way my grandmother and my mother made this. Absolute perfection thank you so much for your channel

Wow! I really like to cook and usually have no issues with making stuff...except rice.I never put enough water or I put too much and my Dominican mom can't tell me how much because she never uses measurements lol I made this just now and it came out great! I added half a can of gandules so I think next time I'll add more salt since I only made a cup and 1/4 rice but yay I finally made some decent rice. Thank you!!!
Smileybiotch237Hi Smiley! Dominican moms are just like Puerto Rican mom.. never measure..but they know exactly what to do.. it's amazing!.. Hope your next rice comes out better ..good luck and thank you for your support!.. Felicidades.. Nydia
Smileybiotch237 hi smiley you know what the secret is? Put enough water to just cover the rice. Then cook it on medium heat till the water is absorbed but not dry, make sure the rice is watery but not covered in water lower heat to low and cover to let steam cook it.

+TikiTrvlr Hi.. I think a bought them at Pier One.. years ago.. thanks :)
+NydiasMiamiKitchen Thank you for that. And your rice was great!
What was the very last thing you added and then cooked an additional 5-10 mins? Was that sherry wine?

I'm so glad you asked that because , i thought she said cherry wine and that is like soda. haha, i feel so silly now
Nydia if I want to add gandules or any other legume(beans) do I need to adjust the amount of liquid ?
Hi warren! Not if the beans are precooked. Buen provecho!
Hola Nydia, I made it but… I had to leave out the manteca ! I know it makes it taste better,( I remember Dona Josefa's) …However I have this family history of stuff - we won't go there. warren miller Great! The chicken skin & olive oil also works very well. Hugs!!
NydiasMiamiKitchen also, view Arroz Con Gandules recipe!
I love your pot.
Thank you!
Nydia, it's me again Susie, do you wash your rice?
There are different brands available in the spice section. They all say Adobo on the label.
this is so helpful thank you
Hi Susie!! I don't have it.
Is the recipe posted anywhere? Like so I can read it? Thanks
Do you wash the rice?
Ohhhhh yessssss!!!
Which ingredient[s]?
Yummy!
@cinti525 You are very welcome! Let me know how it turns out!
Me again Susie, do you have a recipe for Salvadorian or Cuban 7 Seas Soup?
How many people does this serve? :)
+Jacob Rödgers HI Jacob.. between 6 and 8 ..depending how much they eat. thanks
About how many people can eat out of this amount of rice that you have shown?
I want to make this 😍👍. What’s the name of those 2 packages? The words under the Sazon on that package. Thank you
Sazon con Azafran
What kind of adobo do you use
Love this recipe but I'd like to know what kind of pot that is too.
faithandfury That is call a "Caldero".. very common in the Caribbean.. but you can use any pot you have.thanks
That's a Caldero. Imusa.com has some awesome ones. I've got my first set still and they were gifted to me when I was 15 (12 years ago)
faithandfury We call them 'Dutch Pot' in Jamaica!
thank you for sharing the easy to follow video. After so many attempt of uneven cooked yellow rice, I know how to cook the yellow rice. I thought the yellow color of the rice come from turmeric powder. now, I know It is from Sazon package.
HI.. you can use the sazon package but only the one with zafron.. you can also use pure zafron .. in case you don't have sazon or zafron you can also use turmeric.. but he zafron gives a particular delicious latin flavor.. good luck!!! Nydia
Enjoy Cuban Food
Do you rinse your rice before using?
+chatomairi Depending on the brand.. some good brands are clear and ready to use.. other more inexpensive ones need rinsing. Thanks .. Nydia
The tomato sauce is what gives it color the Goya is what gives it flavor along with the chicken stock
Why kind of rice did you use?
Can this still taste good using a veggie stock?
+Jessica Kennon Yes.. absolutely! Nydia
Happy food dance GOOOD!
Cual adobo do u use? Is it goya
This recipe will be yellow, not orange, not crunchy and oily, and it will be fluffy.
What is this "Adobla" spice you put in the rice?
Adobo.. is a seasoning.. there are many brands. .I like adobo Goya or Adobo Badia Brand.
