I made a pot of this yesterday afternoon. Right as I finished, I was called away to take care of something for work. When I returned, I found my wife sitting on the living room couch with a big bowl of the rice, eating it with a spoon. She looked up at me and said, "I don't know what you made, but it's delicious."
I had also prepared some jerk chicken for dinner. Before I threw it on the grill, my wife suggested that she would be fine just eating more rice for dinner.
Anyway, I really liked this recipe, and my wife seems to think it's the best thing she's ever eaten.
    Thanks for the recipe!

🎆 ~ Oooh!!! I was gonna ask Spinelli what he recommended serving with this - thanks for the jerk chicken thought (never had that stuff B4, either, but i make a mean paprika-curry-lemon-rosemary+! chicken finished under the broiler with a glaze of jam) ... OK - now I'm suddenly hungy lol.
Gonna have to Google Jerk Chicken (unless either you or Spinelli have a 5-star recipe to share). _Both recipes sound/look amazing! Annnd eaten together? Lol_ - *fahgedaboudid!!!!!* Thx!!!

    1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
    1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
1/2 cup Soy Sauce (low sodium)
    4 cups Chicken Broth
    BROWN THE RICE
    1) Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat
    2) Add rice and stir until almost brown (4-6 minutes)
    3) Add onion and minced garlic
    4) Stir constantly until browning complete
    SEASON
    5) Add Smoked Paprika, Garlic Powder, Dried Parsley
    6) Add Black Pepper, Cayenne Pepper, Soy Sauce
    7) Stir to combine (30 seconds)
    BOIL
    8) Slowly add chicken Broth
    9) Stir and bring to boil
    10) Cover until most liquid absorbed (15-25 minutes)
    11) Remove from heat and let sit covered 5 minutes

Never had the real deal roadhouse rice but I do enjoy this rice recipe alot, i use basmati rice rather than plain long grain. I have taken to adding fine diced bell peppers and frozen peas to it, works great with ground beef as a dirty rice for a meal on it's own. I cook the rice in a skillet 🍳 then transfer it to my rice cooker, using 1.5 cups of broth rather than 2 as for use it gives a better result with basmati rice. Leaving it on the keep warm setting for 30 - 45 minutes gives it the texture we like. Leftovers make excellent egg rice rice and it freezes well for later reheating.

Ive been a chef for 30yrs, one important step that was missed is Soaking Rice
Soaking any variety of rice covered in water for just 30 minutes plumps the grains of rice. This plumping allows the grains to absorb a little water prior to cooking, the grains of rice will be very tender without getting mushy and the rice cooks very evenly.

Spinelli, this looks fantastic! It's also inspiring to use some creativeness - maybe add shrimp, or tender beef chunks, or even a really nice piece of firm white fish! Beautiful!

Tried this at the weekend, to go with some chili. Really tasty. As a Brit, I'd never heard of the Texas Roadhouse chain, just thought the recipe looked good, and always looking for ways to make rice more intresting, esp with Tex/Mex recipes. As others have said, you could throw in some meat and make it a one-pot meal. Will be having a look at your other recipes, as concise and easy to follow.

This looks amazing 😋 I can’t believe I’ve never been to the restaurant. I’ve lived with one right up the street for over twenty years.

Made this tonight, I didn’t have onions but used dried minced onion instead, cooked same way. Still delicious! Served it with grilled pork tenderloin. This one goes into my recipe book. I’ve had Texas Roadhouse rice and this is better in my opinion. 💕 Thanks for the yummy rice
