    I just learned from a Hyundai Dealership that you should always install a new 'crush washer' when replacing the plug. (The instant-change place where I used to go never did this and I'd always have a slight drip on my driveway when I got home).

      That's good to know. I'll make sure to do that next time. I'll try to edit the video to make it appear that I changed it. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for the video. To save money I’m thinking about doing my own oil changing from now on instead of taking it somewhere.

      Definitely. One suggestion though. Get your oil and filter from the same place and either save the receipts or buy it from somewhere that saves that info for you online. The reason is, Kia has engine issues and if that needs replaced, they are going to want all your oil change records. I buy mine from Autozone and I am part of their reward program. I'm able to log into my Autozone account and see all my transactions.

    The access to the filter is a problem. If it’s over tightened.My last oil change was an expensive disaster. I tried every thing to get purchase on it. Finally broke open the plastic cover but by that time I had put a hole in the can. That was a whole other problem , anyway If I had known about accessing it like in your video I would of saved myself a lot of trouble. The 2013 sonata is great but I don’t like the filter access. Give me a Subaru. And don’t get me started on the rear calliper bracket bolt. Omg. Hyundai what were you thinking? Thanks god bless

    Great video. I'll try to get an oil filter removal tool/socket so I don't have to pull that skid plate/panel. Looks like it is designed pretty well...no idea how the tech got oil all over the skid plates last time. I'm going to pull mine onto rhino ramps...do you see any issue with that?

    • @becausestuffbreaks
      @becausestuffbreaks  Год назад +1

      Ramps might put it at enough of an angle that the oil will hit something on the way out, but I don't know for sure. Try it and let me know how it goes.

      @@becausestuffbreaks did it today. No issues. Bought a new drain plug and crush washer at O'Reilly. Ours has 175k on it and both the bolt and washer were toast. I had never changed the oil in this car, but every place wants $60 or more now to do it, and I can buy the parts for $20. Got the truck done too. Thanks again!

      Awesome! Much cheaper to do it yourself

    I have a 2012 sonata 2.4L Limited, I was told since mine has an orange dipstick(possibly due to the recall but I bought mine used so I wouldn’t know), that it takes a full five quarts, maybe even 5.3. The little research I was able to do showed the yellow dipstick on the orange dipstick side-by-side and their low/full marks were at different positions. Do you have any insight on this issue?

    • @becausestuffbreaks
      @becausestuffbreaks  3 года назад

      Never heard about the dipstick color meaning. I just go by the owners manual and what size engine it is.

    • @6atlantis
      @6atlantis 3 года назад +1

      @@becausestuffbreaks yeah I just discovered the color of the dipstick can indicate if your car had the #132 recall work done to it and also indicates how much oil the engine takes, they updated it digitally in some places but not in the physical owners manual obviously.

    I feel the struggle with the turkey gloves bro, when I worked at the dealer they complained about me using gloves too fast and then made fun of me for using those.

    Where did you put the floor jack on the underside of the car?

    • @becausestuffbreaks
      @becausestuffbreaks  3 года назад

      I jacked it up next to where I put the jacket stands. Did 1 side at a time and then put the jack somewhere to protect me in case it falls off one of the stands.

    My buddy is having a lot of trouble putting the plastic cover back on after changing my oil for me on my 2013 sonata...do I need it?

      Are you talking about the oil fill cap or the engine cover that says GDi on it? If it's the engine cover, why did he take it off for an oil change?

  • @jamichaeljones1817
    @jamichaeljones1817 7 месяцев назад

    Filter got stuck cause you pull plug without taking cap off engine in the beginning

    Where do you put the jack exactly?

      @becausestuffbreaks  3 года назад +1

      At 00:33 you can see I jacked it up next to where I put the jack stand

  • @njsongwriter

    I would be using a low volatility oil in a GDI engine
