The amplified-history band Heilung do a fantastic rendering of a Harii battlefield ritual evocation of Allfather in their live version of 'Alfadhirhaiti'.
Love it, similar to you I've been obsessed with Japanese warriors and more recently Norse. I have a passion for anything Knights Templar as well. So your really ticking all the boxes for me. Keep up the good work 👍.
Keep up the good work. I found your channel when I was starting out in learning japanese. However the Samurai and ancient japanese societies, even the real history of ninja always fascinated me. Looking forward to reading your book.
Did I ever mention I like you 😂. My ancestors painted themselves to. I must mention they were tattooed and raised hell. I’m glad that you’re doing something with the warrior way of your kin. It’s amazing how things have been lost. My grandfather taught me quite a bit. Can you imagine a army of black and blue painted warriors coming at ya?!!? Those are the ancestors that kicked ass. I’m still learning too. I’m kicking ass too.. lots of love to ya. Thanks again for your show.
Tacitus on the Harii: ''They black their shields and dye their bodies, and choose pitch dark nights for their battles. The shadowy, awe-inspiring appearance of such a ghoulish army inspires mortal panic: for no enemy can endure a sight so strange and hellish. Defeat in battle starts always with the eyes.''
Yeah you are right, we know too little about our own history... At least too little about our history before 1900. Thanks for the information, it is really Interesting even if it wouldn't be now a days not in German. I still think it is important to know the past of your country.
I'm researching viking culture, and a viking settlement was found in northern germany. Thor and Odin are idolized as Germanic God's. During the viking age Scandinavians were culturally the same, just from different regions. 🛶
@@Combat-Mindset I've been reading up on the battle of teutoburg forrest. The germanic tribes had slaughtered close to 20,000 romans. Some romans felt so hopeless they committed suicide. 😂
The roots of what we currently refer to as the Norse religion go back thousands of years to the Germanic tribes living principally in the Black Forest region of Central Europe (the Norse were essentially distant cousins to the Goths and Vandals who sacked Rome, after a fashion), and their beliefs derived from even older proto-Indo-European roots.
@@Egzackt Very helpful information. I'm not sure if you've seen some of the viking churches, but here's a video on them it's really cool. ruclips.net/video/WwiPNfoRsz4/видео.html
Dude these lads sound like a nightmare. The Germans were naturally very magical peoples who already wore boar heads, bears, wolf, fox, various forms of body war paint.
The Ghost Riders represent Purgatory or Hell. They're doomed to forever chase the Devil's Heard. Never to catch them. But I wonder if your right about The Wild Hunt influence. The only thing I know about The Wild Hunt is from The Witcher 3.
Come to Germany during the celebration of Saint Martin and you will see the Christianised version of the celebration of the wild Hunt. Saint Martin, a Roman soldier characterised by his mantle and horse (so two visible attributes strongly connected to Wotan), leads a procession of all children following him each holding a lantern through the town. Afterwards they disperse and go with their lantern from house to house to sing songs and get sweets in return, to all gather again afterwards at a huge bonfire (we take weeks to build it) to celebrate around and jump through it for the rest of the night (though that part is obviously primarily attended by teenagers and adults) Other big celebrations surrounding the wild Hunt are the Rauhnächte, during which according to folklore the wild Hunt rides through our countryside (12 days surrounding Christmas and New year). E.g. during new year's we make a giant firework everywhere, have some other regional cultural events always involving loud sounds and fire to scare the spirits away. In the alpine region there is the Krampus and Perchten Runs, where you can literally be abducted by Germanic folklore demons hunting the streets and countryside for people on the streets after sundown. Many of us don't realise where these things come from, as they are just fun traditions we have always celebrated, but when you look into the origins and symbolism the iconography of the wild Hunt becomes very evident.
My understanding is that they also didn't use any metal weapons; relying on wooden clubs and pointed sticks to reduce any noise. I cannot remember the reference for this, so don't take it as fact. These tactics could well have been used to great effect in Teutoburg Forest where the Germanic coalition secured a huge victory over the Roman army.
Scary thing is I have north German ancestry within the last 200 years plus Norse, likely of Ulfhednar or berserker origins, Celt and Eastern native American, some middle eastern and Asian... All my ancestors were angry madmen or hunters 😂
First thing the harii were no tribe but a warrior society, like wulfclan, bearclan. Second the !eader of the wild hunt was Thor( DonarTorawaz) not Odin ( Wodan).

Norse were north Germanic warriors, these were described as west Germanic warriors.
I love the Templars the most. Their history is still going strong in the shadows of esotericism in the modern day.

Quote: " - Many Europeans don´t know enough about their own history." True but that is also a big cake to swallow and not least digest.

I do Instagram on Fridays. So expect it sorted Friday.
