I love the moto adventures… hoping for more!!
Thanks Travis!
I'm trying 2x2's vert rack... easy on/off & keeps the weight lower/tighter to the moto... but no real offroad capability for me
The DIY attitude is awesome. Get some Jeff!
Thanks! The castor wheel/hitch I built for my daughter’s mobile ice cream shop is substantially more legit than the 2x2 rack; so stay tuned for a new DIY rack build!
finally a continental kryptotal tire!! cant wait for the proper review of this!!
Oh it'll come soon!!! Just need to get them onto some other bikes as well!
When i used a friend's 80s goldwing with a custom rack set up low on the right side , it worked really well. Of course the goldwing is heavier and theres some limitation to dropping the moto on the right, i think if i were building a new rack i would choose to have the bike lower , reverse with the rear wheel tucked in close near my right hip and the bars tucked close behind the rear wheel of the moto.
I use a modified 2x2 rack I cut off the excess bits , welded it upside down under my ftr 1200 luggage rack, and next iteration will cut reciever for the crank arm stinger flush with the rear of my stock rack, and lengthen the stinger by the amount I cut off the receiver (8") this will leave the mtb in the same place, but the rack will appear to be just a luggage rack. I don't travel long distances to trailheads, but this setup was efficient on a 250 mile round trip moto camp.
Good luck with that rack homie.
My favorite thing about the big, mega, ultra, heavy E bike is the comfort when I'm loaded down with trail boss tools. Hashtag got dat devinci e troy. But I am absolutely not tossing this bike around like a trail bike and certainly not doing those kendall-weed manuals
I use my emtb to self shuttle a local ski hill that doesn't have bike lifts running anymore.
Another great video! I had Dyna beads in my turbo vrod, smooth at150mph!
Thanks Joseph, I might try the Sahara sealant I have here and some glue on weights. A couple other folks have been stoked on beads too tho! For the off road stuff, the sealant has a fed advantages over beads.
Awesome video as always. You should try to get the new Specialized Levo SL to try. Seems like it would be just your cup of tea. Relatively short chainstays etc.
I have a set of the Anakee Wilds on my Honda 300 Rally and put tubes in them with balancing beads inside and they are the best tire set up. I’m looking forward to trying out my bike on bike setup soon.
Just got them installed last night! Albeit on the stock, wide wheels... With Sahara sealant, when should work ok! Cool 300, those are nice! I'd like to downsize TBH, mostly something lighter and a lower seat height.
Nice
Awesome video.
Jeff is riding in style!
Really cool to get to the trailhead on Moto!
Not to bug Jeff, but I wonder why he hasn't done a video on the Oso yet?
Thanks Norbert- the Oso looks fun, but it's hard to get a loaner.
Been waiting for a solid bike on bike rack!
I’ll make one… eventually!
@@JeffKendallWeed Keep your eyes open for people throwing out Nordic Trac to repurpose?
😂🤘
love to see you ride and review the new levo sl.
I agree would love to see that as well.
Thanks Drew, not sure how I'd go about getting a loaner Specialized, but I'm not opposed!
Thanks for the feedback, Hans!
Thank you for not publishing unsanctioned trails. It probably causes you some issues with having content you want to deliver but it sure is better for the MTB community as a whole.
Ofc! I ride tons of unsanctioned, but I've also seen so much of that get shut down. The least I can do is protect the stuff that needs to stay low key. I am of the mindset that if you can't do anything cool enough to be worth watching on the sanctioned trail, then you're filming the wrong way.
After watching more reviews of the Altitude powerplay this year, it's at the top of my list to go find and hopefully test ride. I'd love to see you on one or at least hit up more places with the Instinct! The motor seems extremely divisive among users which is what I'm more concerned about, as it's already known that the bike itself is a solid performer. I struggle to ride as long or hard as even below-average non injured riders due to spine damage and fibromyalgia, so my main concern is that while the motors power potential sounds FUN, I'm worried I might not be able to sustain the cadence to keep the motor purring as opposed to what I've heard about bosch/ep8 which lets you soft pedal along
Also have you ever been able to compare the Knolly Warden to a 27.5 Altitude(or Slayer)? I'm a small wheel rider and was eyeing either too...
we need that Continental tires review :) thanks!
I’ll get it up soon!
I dont understand why you can't ride ebikes on certain trails over there.
Here in Australia there is not a single place that doesn't allow ebikes, not that i know of anyway.
Apparently the only Continental tires available in America are the trail-endurance versions. I’ve had a set of the Enduro-Soft tires on order for a couple months now at Jenson.
I have DH casing tires here, they are great for trail use on the PNW stuff!
@@JeffKendallWeed I am scared of having to pedal DH casing tires. Lol.
@@JamesLG4 Those are not so heavy compared to some MMary,Assegai or DH22. I have some friends who tested Kryptotals and they were not very convinced by the grip in general. To the touch the rubber feels a little plastic hard too me. For pure DH tire I think Michelin DH22 is king of grip, overall best tire out there.
@@josemorenoporras7506 Good info and I have heard similar opinions. I have a set of the trail-endurance Krytotals and they feel too light and hard, in fairness I have not yet mounted and ridden them. My favorite combo is DHF/Dissector in DD casing, maxxgrip front and maxxterra rear. I am currently using a Dissector in EXO+ on the rear and have no issues. I don’t need a DH tire but I do like to have some sidewall support. Thanks for the info.
Great job with the video I love your videos figuring out how to mount an mtb on a Motorcycle!
I am headed to sqaumish and Whistler next month you kept saying you wanted 2.6 tires for traction. Does that go for non ebikes? I am running currently running 2.4's. Thanks for any tips on tire choice for pnw riding!
Most PNW folk run 2.4 or 2.5 tires and ride common/popular trails. I tend to ride rougher, less popular (“goat”) trails with lower average speeds, so I’ve warmed up to the 2.6 size.
@@JeffKendallWeed Awesome thank you! I normally run 2.6. I got some softer compound tougher casing for the trip.
Nice! I love the tough tires but try to adapt to them before the trip!
Can you make a tire video comparing best DH tires out there? Now there are a few good tires out there: Maxxis,Schawble,Michelin,Specialized,WTB and Continental would cover a good amount of tires out there in the wild.
Thanks José, stay tuned!
Heck yeah after watching Brage main Michelin DHs in his last killer shred I immediately went hunting for reviews on them seem beastly, want to see how they compare to the others
That bike rack may not be 100% dialed in, but your beard certainly is 😎
Thanks eric! 😂
@@JeffKendallWeed Just be careful what you say about e-bikes. Anything less than glowing comments and the e-bike mob will come after you.
😂 I noticed in the “why are we so afraid of e-bikes” vid I posted a while back! Novel up, crappy down. Fun. But not as fun as a bicycle!
Another review
Maybe, maybe I'll just incorporate into other vids, we'll see!
Glad someone else is doing a moto setup with an ebike! My bmw rides best with 2 extra wheels hanging off the back
Hahahaha nice set up Hudson!
So this is still the Instinct replacement motor/controller from Rocky Mountain but you have a different (longer?) fork and headset?
A good problem to have is riding so many different bikes at once, right? I had to look through your videos a bit until I found the last time you were riding and talking about the Rocky Mountain PowerPlay stuff. I'm with you, the lighter ebikes with less power are my preference. I mean, if manufacturers could make them 30-35lbs with the same power of the full ebikes I wouldn't complain but 50lbs rides different.
Same Instinct, I just put on a 170mm 38 fork and an X2 rear shock. Rides awesome! Wouldn’t mind 15 less pound tho! I don’t need the power, bicycle tires and suspension are not able to use a whole lotta power in the first place
Use the balancing beads for the moto tires.
No way, I use inner tubes with those wheels. Might try to use some Sahara sealant I have here tho!
@@JeffKendallWeedbalancing beads are used in tubes also. I regularly go over 80 mph, on Mexican hwys, with beads. 😉😉
Oh really? Didn’t think they would fit through the Schraeder valve hole in the tube! I saw that FortNine vid where they try the different balancing solutions and the sealant worked almost as good as the beads, but also provided a ton of other benefits (like sealing…) so I bought into that solution. Maybe I’ll add some to the tubes this afternoon!
Orrseome - I wonder if that's legal in my country (AU) - I've certainly never seen it.
It's probably not legal in my country, but it hasn't been an issue! I do have a bright LED license plate frame so there are visible tail lights...
Peasants bike. Lol
I'd rather ride a mountain bike than a disability bike. Lol 😂
The disability bikes are fun, but I do prefer the bicycles more.
you *couldn't really care less...not "could"...it doesn't make sense
