I did not get born again till I was forty years in the wilderness but this sound resonates so sweetly to a past tortured soul by sin and rock and roll, This groove you great musicians are playing sets that soul free to direct it to loving the Lord who saved me 25 years ago. Thanks and WOW
Wow... I wasn't a Christian yet but would have listened if I was. I ended up in Southern Cal and eventually at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa about seven years later as a new believer. First Christian band... Darryl Mansfield! He helped me get through some rough times!!!
Thank you so much for the music Dana. You and the other guys from "THE WAY" were my first intro to Jesus music back in 1974. I was on my way with Christian/Jesus people to a revival of sorts that night and that was the night I gave my life to Christ and received the Holy Spirit. One of my friends was playing the first THE WAY 8 track tape in the car on the way to the revival. 1974 was also the year I graduated from high school. Thank you for everything and I thank GOD for your intro to Jesus Music.
My Man Dana Angle! I may not have been there at that moment, but was there at many others like it. This band was a huge part of my young Christian Life, so many years ago! MARANATHA!!!
You were born too late- but just enjoy the music from this era. There's quite a lot being published on the Net. Maybe the Lord will send another revival and we'll get some decent Holy Spirit inspired Christian music again.
Donald Elley I can't speak for others but the Lord has laid on my heart to begin writing poetry for Him and I'm a classically trained/educated musician (that's kind of a way of saying that if I put my mind to it, I can write/play music in a lot of different styles) and this counterculture music is what I grew up loving.. And a lot my generation loves this music too (and early 00's Alt. Rock/Soft Rock) I grew up with Jannie Grein and Dallas Holme and praise etc.. I know that a nationwide Born Again, Holy Spirit, non-"Religious" revival is beginning to happen in the hearts of my generation right now (I'm in my early 20's). Instead of Hippies.. This time it'll be Hipsters haha
I'm a little young for this era, I was born in 1976, but love the music. They really knew how to jam in the early 1970s. My parents dressed like them in my infant/toddler years LOL. They had friends who looked these guys. Love to dig out the old pictures LOL
@Jardo Never ever say you’re too young for that matter because time moves like a flash before your eyes. See, now you’re up there somewhere. Sadly, we’re all glued to the ticking of the clock; some before others, eventually riding the same boat. Lol.
Whoa, Dana, this is the kind of Jesus music I would have responded to (maybe) back in the 60s and 70s. Thanks for posting. Anything more about the band?
Awesome, my first Christian album was The Way, in fact I have that album framed and under glass hanging on my wall now. Honestly had never heard this song before such a blessing you've posted it as well as some others I've found here, growing up in southern Cal our visits to CC Costa Mesa will always be held near to heart. A musician myself looking forward to seeing the King and the soon coming jam in the kingdom, be blessed.
Really? The sexual revolution has destroyed society, and we are seeing the infinite consequences now: the homosexual crap and homo pedophiles preying on children in schools, the murder of countless millions in the womb via abortion, contraception, etcetera.
Repent and put your trust in Jesus. We've all sinned and deserve Hell. Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected, defeating death and sin. Since we broke the law, Jesus paid our fine. Since he paid it, we can be let go. We must repent and trust in Jesus to be saved. Romans 3:23 John 3:16 Romans 6:23 1 Corinthians 15:3,4 Revalation 3:20 Romans 10:13
Why not accept Jesus today? He loves you and wants to have a relationship with you. The music is just an expression of the love these guys know by faith. I will be praying for you. I did right now.
Kickin' lead guitar playing, Dana! Thanks for posting this video. I missed the later concerts at CCCM when I went into the Air Force. You guys (especially you) played much mellower music in the little chapel days.
Yes a lot of memories of things we have done in the past come back to us years later... I might have taken a little more time to enjoy the 'Good Times' that they were while they were happening. Haven't seen you Dana, since you were in Horizon with Beau at Hope Chapel in Manhattan Beach....lol ...thank you Lord for lifting me off the ground. (nuther great tune)
i have been lucky to find may original marinatha LP's at the swap meet. and this is one of my favvoret band son the lable! i live in huntington beach. close to costa mase where it all happened
Was on worship team with Bruce Herring in the early 80's. He was a teacher/mentor musically and spiritually. So gifted. Where is he now? Patti Rodriguez/Smith
Dana, Thanks for posting this video. I was working on the TV crew. Did not know these tapes still existed. Was this from U-Matic cassette or 1 inch Ampex? -- Richard
Dana Angel is playing the great long solo on guitar. The other guitarist is John Wickham, an amazing guitarist in his own right. Together, these two were dynamite! Saw them live many times in the early 70s at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Lucky me! 😊
Country rock of the 70"s....today's Christian artist can't this
GREAT BAND WITH A wonderful message

MARANATHA!!!
I was looking for some Christian Country rock. I was born in 71, wish there was music like that today )
You were born too late- but just enjoy the music from this era. There's quite a lot being published on the Net. Maybe the Lord will send another revival and we'll get some decent Holy Spirit inspired Christian music again.
Mac Demarco. Not exactly Christian Country but still great.
makes me wish i was born in 1954 not 72
Craig Neeve shoot, I wish I was born in 1950 not 1995. This was real music, I would love to have been in the hippie era.

Love it,the first Jesus rock musicians didn't change how they played, just what they were singing about

Can you buy this song somewhere??? It is awesome!
I know Dana was selling copies of The Way albums on CD years ago.
Great song. Awesome guitar and beat there. Nothing like the early 70s.
Really? The sexual revolution has destroyed society, and we are seeing the infinite consequences now: the homosexual crap and homo pedophiles preying on children in schools, the murder of countless millions in the womb via abortion, contraception, etcetera.
Clean...Remember this band...Jesus People Movement went all out
a lot of peoples first christian album was The Way, love their harmonies

Digging this jive…Allman Brothers meets the Bible.
Great guitar solo, Dana!
I'm not a Christian, but that matters not because this is one hell (heaven!) of a band. The song is great and the musicianship is tremendous.

The baby boomers were really passionate about their faith. Christian contemporary music had its beginnings then......
The music isn't fake, it's the real deal and it rocks, imagine this live. I can see why the Christian fundamentalists thought this was from the Devil.

What memories!
This is a sound and a way of thinking that needs to come again.....Their is so much nonsense in the world. The people need something real!!!!

was there when I saw this it realy lifted me up
When Christian bands could actually rock. Just can’t listen to Christian radio now where the same formula songs rotate endlessly on loop.
Was on worship team with Bruce Herring in the early 80's. He was a teacher/mentor musically and spiritually. So gifted. Where is he now?
Patti Rodriguez/Smith
Doing great in so cal☝️
Them hair waves are ridiculous. Ha. A Christian Allman Brothers. I like it.
Sooo- why is it difficult to find a recording of this song ?
hey Dana, is there any way I can get ahold of The Way- full concerts ?
Hey Dana, is from a longer video? I mean the whole concert? Is it available in whole? Great stuff, brother!
Dana, Thanks for posting this video. I was working on the TV crew. Did not know these tapes still existed. Was this from U-Matic cassette or 1 inch Ampex? -- Richard
Is that Phil Keaggy playing guitar?
