As someone who has been listening to Budgie since 1971 and has every first issue vinyl album in my collection, I am amazed how many other high profile metal/rock bands had their early hits by covering Budgie songs, they really were and incredibly talented bunch of musicians and song writers.
Hope you and your dad are fine...even more now we're all passing kind of a hard crazy time...love and music, friendship and care, that will finally save us from mental harm...i can imagine how you feel, my dad and me, we are like friends and supported each other for years, my respect and empathy to you all, good health and hugs from a swiss/norwegian/spanish Budgie Fan🎸🎹🎶💮☮️🎩🐻✊💖🐦
Couple of days ago I was thinking about Budgie and what awesome sound they banged out for 3 piece band . I was meeting my mate to go clubbing in Birmingham u.k many years back and he said Budgie were playing same night we could go there first . Big yes never seen them live . Only small venue not many people , but they were outstanding . Thank your dad for me for great night . Cant believe they weren't bigger than what they were . I'm now looking for tutorials on how to play , Zoom Club and In For The Kill on guitar . If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great .
Saw this stunning Welsh trio many times during their heyday spoke to them all on a few occasions, I have memorabilia that guitarist Tony Bourge used to send me & hand written letters, nobody wrote songs like this mighty trio.🎸🎸🥁🤟
Can you imagine what an impression Budgie made on this 17 year old boy in 1971 when I first saw them. I was lucky enough to see them many times and still listen to them almost daily.
Started buying Budgie imports when I was in high school 1977. Still have their entire Studio Discography on minty vinyl, they are in deed the best underrated Metal band of their era. No doubt.
what I like about them is that they don't need any pose or stage antics or fancy silly clothing to make HEAVY sounds... the kind of HEAVY sounds that will punch your soul.. just listen to Parents holy shit...
RIP Burke Shelley. I loved listening to Budgie. Reminds me of a sweet time in my childhood. A neighbor kid brought your music from the UK. Much gratitude. 🏴
Burke Shelley is a personal hero of mine. as someone who also suffers from a connective tissue disorder, i find him infinitely inspiring. such a talented musician and excellent human being.🦜🤘⚡️
Was lucky yo see them twice in the late seventies...was already a fan well before that...best band ever..I'm 64 now, still listen to their music..they were the best..thanks for everything Budgie..😘😍✌🤙
Thankyou BUDGIE for Best teenage yrs, my son was conceived while his Dad & I listened on record in those days no CD, much Respect, ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🎸🎤🥁🎸🖤🏴♥️
One of my fav bands when I wasy oung, Still have 3 LP's stashed somewhere. At age 62 its awesome to wach this. Once a metal always a metal. Thanks for sharing.
Majestic...way ahead of their time. I don't think my dad knew about them, growing up with Elvis, the Eagles, CCR, the Stones, David Bowie, the Who, Bachman, Beach boys etc. didn't hurt by far. But this is next level, just like Jimi and Thin Lizzy back then. Slayer came later...
Having delved into 70s hard rock and most of the artists all being English, but then I found out Budgie were Welsh! My dads welsh and my mums english, but I have always been proud of my Welsh heritage!!! Up the Budgie! Most underrated rock band ever, their first album will be listened too for the rest of my life!
Budgie is one of those rare bands that everything they recorded was worth listening to. I keep finding bootlegs and compilations of material I haven't heard and it blows me away how good it all is. I hope 'One Last Hurrah' comes to be.
okay I'm trying to understand what did compare to this at the time... 1975? so basically they were playing experimental "disco" kind of music before Disco even became a worldwide phenomenon? so not only they are pioneers of heavy metal they also have part in Disco becoming a thing? this is huge
I never really understood the appeal of Led Zep (people were too bored I guess Laughs...) but to me this guy sings better and higher notes than Robert Plant just sayin' 👍
Great performance 👏👏👏👏… I heard a glimmer of the Doors in there among a host of others that I’m certain helped inspire their unique flavor ! How delicious 🙂↔️🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Every 6 months I search for "Budgie live" hoping to find some gigs/songs from the 70s - 80s, I've seen this videos before but not in as good quality. Thanks!
here I am in one of these 2 AM Budgie rabbit holes 🤣🤣🤣I really despise some things about the "future" and what the world became, but I still love this little thing called youtube, finding so much cool stuff around here... rock on... 1991 kid born in the wrong decade
Please thank your ol man for giving me millions of happy, happy memories. Reading 80 was just wonderful. Still get the LP's out now, still banging those toons. T H A N K Y O U !!!!!!
okay so this is 1975? Disco wasn't a thing yet, right? so they were pretty much playing experimental "disco" music before Disco even became a thing? I'm telling you, these guys were always ahead of their time... the problem with this is that the crowd's brain was not ready for it yet
Budgie should have added a RHYTHM BASS player because Burke is playing LEAD BASS! Hard to believe he is no longer with us... Absolutely loved these guys! Been listening to them since 1977...
I would not say relative obscurity as much as I would say that collectively Budgie were always about Substance over Style. I think that is a great virtue of truly great bands. It was always more of an invitation to critique them based on their work as opposed to so many bands that were more about the Spectacle of Rock and Roll. Bands like that have a lot of Live Footage and by now are relegated to playing parking lots in the midwest opening up for Styx or Kansas LOL!
5x dislikes. Why bother wasting your energy & time to dislike this! Seriously what is wrong with some people? Budgie footage is as rare as rocking horse shit... just enjoy it or don’t watch! 🤦🏻♂️
These guys were inceptual in creating that hard driving British rock sound. I’d put money on it that Wolfmother were heavily influenced by this band - if not, massively coincidental sound similarity. Budgie were just fantastic.
This Drummer must have been so pumped to jam with Geddy Lee’s dad and Ritchie Blackmore at the same time Im sure most people don’t even believe him when he tells them Well we all know the truth now
As someone who has been listening to Budgie since 1971 and has every first issue vinyl album in my collection, I am amazed how many other high profile metal/rock bands had their early hits by covering Budgie songs, they really were and incredibly talented bunch of musicians and song writers.
Thankyou - Burke Shelley is my Dad and I havent seen some of this footage before :-)
Thank your dad for making music that makes me smile every time I hear it. My all-time favorite band !!
Jason x... Do you have have any more footage that we havent seen before

Confirmed it was 2002 my mates wifes 40th birthday when we seen the band

what I like about them is that they don't need any pose or stage antics or fancy silly clothing to make HEAVY sounds... the kind of HEAVY sounds that will punch your soul.. just listen to Parents holy shit...
just discovered them recently... Budge on 🤣
RIP Burke Shelley. I loved listening to Budgie. Reminds me of a sweet time in my childhood. A neighbor kid brought your music from the UK. Much gratitude. 🏴
That's what I call music. One of my favorites musicians.
Burke Shelley is a personal hero of mine. as someone who also suffers from a connective tissue disorder, i find him infinitely inspiring. such a talented musician and excellent human being.🦜🤘⚡️

I’m from Oz and on my first overseas trip in 1986 headed to the Marquee Club to see Budgie! Unforgettable!!
Отличная недооцененная группа. Впервые услышал в 75г.
What a band they were ❤
Zeppelin, Sabbath, Deep Purple and Budgie are the Four Fathers of Metal in my opinion.
right....................+Judas Priest
@@MihaiLiviu4K yes!
Yep
dont forget the kinks or hendrix though
Can't forget Uriah Heep. Actually nothing against Budgie, but Heep were even more prolific.
One of the most underestimated rock artists.
Sometimes worldwide recognition comes late.
Thankyou BUDGIE for Best teenage yrs, my son was conceived while his Dad & I listened on record in those days no CD, much Respect, ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🎸🎤🥁🎸🖤🏴♥️

R.I.P Burke, born John Burke Shelley 10th April 1950 - 10th January 2022 😪
Happy memories of a classic band. Only got to see them twice sadly.
Love the song. Always wondered what Rush the early years looked like.

70's speed metal! Gotta love Budgie.
Trust he's in good shape-great band
Saw them back in 78 I think it was, such a good band. Love the Impeckable album.
I saw the Impeckable tour in 1977 in Killeen Texas at a Biker Bar called The KrazyHorse Saloon!!
what is that last song on the album about? such peculiar title 🤣
We want more.. BUDGIE
¡ Obras maestras ! ( Masterpieces ! Fifty years ! Fifty years now, and still beautiful, powerful, spectacular music ! No better band on our days.)
Every 6 months I search for "Budgie live" hoping to find some gigs/songs from the 70s - 80s, I've seen this videos before but not in as good quality. Thanks!

One of my favourite bands that I “grooved on” in the seventies. (And right now! Lol)
"Who Do You Want For Your Love" is so excellent, that I am surprised the Old Grey Whistle Test did not have Budgie back multiple times on their show..
okay so this is 1975? Disco wasn't a thing yet, right? so they were pretty much playing experimental "disco" music before Disco even became a thing? I'm telling you, these guys were always ahead of their time... the problem with this is that the crowd's brain was not ready for it yet
this is like mind blowing, Bass-focused music before The Police members even met each other 🤣
Budgie should have added a RHYTHM BASS player because Burke is playing LEAD BASS! Hard to believe he is no longer with us... Absolutely loved these guys! Been listening to them since 1977...
Squawk was a fine album. In vinyl, part of big brother Dan’s superb collection.
Brings back memories. Great band
Only if you can go back in time and have Budgie and special guest "Rush" on the same bill, definitely would be an amazing show.👍
Бомбавые ребята ! И играли и пел бомба !
way ahead of rush got their recognition 2 many years later I'm a great fan
RIP Burke and thank you
Thank You for this Budgie Footage. I am an old (very old) Budgie Fan.

Excelente, Gran BANDA!!!!!
pyramids is such a great tune man. real prog vibe.
Zep and the likes were encamped over the Mon. studio surrounding countryside sussing out the welsh vibes then into Rockfield studios, Mon.

Fantastic...
EXCELLENT collection! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The look on the guitarist face 0:10 ……love it.
Fantastic! The only thing missing was a song with Pete Boot. Steve Williams & Ray Phillips were excellent drummers.
when your nickname is Boot you just know some SERIOUS drum pounding is about to ensue 🤣🤣🤣
Were bandolier out on LP..great band!!!
This has got to be the most kickass group on the planet
RIP Burke Shelley
Great band. Wish I could see them. 1978 in Germany when I heard them first. M-Bratt. Love this band. God bless. 💜
