i met Budgie in Portsmouth on this tour & the drummer let me have a go on his drums & gave me his sticks,I will never forget it & I was only 15 & I'm 47 now & still listen
Awesome!!! do you still have the sticks?
no i lost them, but i do have the memories & have met & played with a few of my idols since
that's a very cool story

No War!
Two years on from your passing Burke, may you be at one with the heavens. Welsh rock band Budgie ❤
Just a fucking banger of an album.

Thx so much for this great album. Havent heard these songs since the 80s. Awesome sounds.
What a great song keeping a rendezvous is! Bought this when it came out and saw them supporting either Gillan or Hawkwind in Guildford. Awesome!
absolutely love Budgie's covers!
I was in London a few months back, it was nice to be in a place I wasn't the only person that knew who Budgie and DiamondHead were.
This album is absolutely amazing, I was gifted it a while back and it's just so great to listen to
Best Album !!!
That guitar makes me high !!!
BUDGIE IS THE TRUTH MY FRIENDS
You didn't see many album covers by Derek Riggs that weren't for Iron Maiden
Reaper of the Glory to majstersztyk
Budgie. There is nothing better. My funeral will have Budgie's catalog played beginning to end. You are all invited.
Well, I hope you live a very long life! 😀
I'll be there with bells on!! (unless I go before you, ha.)
I take long breaks from listening to Budgie and then rediscover them after the break and EVERY time I go, "man are these guys so good". I am amazed that they were not absolutely hugely successful. There are so many far worse bands that made it bigger. Love Budgie...always will. If you don't know who they are, you will be amazed if you give them a listen.
Yes,so underated band, but so many bands had stealing riffs from budgie, iron maiden and many more,shame..
This has to be better than 90% of the crap thats out there now and this was done in 81
+Gerwyn Davies That's exactly how music works. It doesn't expire... It's good forever or bad forever.
"This has to be better than 90% of the crap thats out there now and this was done in 81"

"but i remember"

A fantastic album... really stands the test of time 👍🇬🇧✌️
I love this Budgie album...specially I turned to stone....and the guitar of John Thomas is amazing!!!
Big John is awesome! R.I.P. Brother.
Nghtflight , is in my opinion a great example of an Anthem song. I can hear scorpions, Ronnie James Dio, and so many other familiaritys,to heavy metal industry. I am 50 years old and cannot believe that just today I have found budgie. I'm sure I've heard their music many times but did not know who they were. But it's never too late to be a fan.
Same here rick
Doubting you will read this but same is happening right now with me. Jaw dropped and first thought was how have I not heard these guys. Budgie was just a name on a notebook when I was a kid. My brothers and their friends whittled away school hours by writing band names all over their notebooks. I copied a lot of them not even knowing who some of the bands were. Budgie was one of those bands.
@@wasntme9578 Check out their catalogue if you've not already done so.
I've been a fan for 45 years. Debut album is one of the best of records of all time.
@@robertcooper411
I will have to do that asap. Thanx!
They really did themselves no favours by having such a silly name. Who is going to check out a band called "Budgie"? It's a shame.
RIP Burke, Your songs and albums are some of the best music this man has ever listened too, "Troubles seemed so far away" 🙏
One of the influential bands of ALL time ...ask the likes of metallica and so on ...so underrated it s beyond belief..they should of been multi millionaires..seen em shit loads of times and got most of what they ever produced..wake up people you don't know what you missing...❤❤❤❤
Super muzyka!
R.I.P. Burkie Shelley:(
Mialem wtedy 20 lat a w Polsce byl stan wojenny.Przezylem dzieki takiej muzyce.Dzis wspominam az sie lza kreci w oku.

I love the band Budgie. Have listened to them for 50 years.
Yes, your not alone brother.
Still love this album and a very underrated band.
I went CRAZY when I heard Turned to Stone for the first time...

Just happened again to somebody looking through my eyes ;) :D
Budgie is one of the finest. The proof's in the pudding.
love this band, there music still stands up today..........
I found this album in a Record/Bookstore in Warsaw. It was framed and hanging high upon the wall. A testament to how great this album is.
"Most underrated band" is the most common comment about Budgie. Still, I feel pride in my discovery of them early on and being able to turn my friends on has been a joy. Nothing too much wrong with being a large fish in a smaller pond. That is success, too.
Just heard Burke Shelly passed away today. RIP.
⭐.
Budgie are a no nonsense rock group . I’ve seen them twice in Australia. Budgie fans are selected . You notice not many people have heard of Budgie. I like that because i listen to the lyrics as the riffs interlocking in every song . That’s why Budgie will be timeless. VLB
Love the sound of the drums on this album, pure eargasm.
RIP master Burke!

Mam 54 i slucham starych kapel , bo bardzo lubie dobrego starego rocka .oni sa moim dopingiem .
Can a band's music change your life? Yes. Yes it can.
John Thomas’s guitar riffs are really amazing 👍👏
here we can see where Iron Maiden's Powerslave and Somewhere in Time album covers came from. Same artist by the way.
Keeping a Rendezvous it is just perfect..
'keeping a rendezvous' was the only budgie single to appear in the UK charts. criminally underrated band.
It's a crime against the world, one might say
They became a different band post Bourge. I've never been able to completely warm up to JT but I can appreciate it. Most underrated band of all time in my opinion.
Superb classic album: this and Bandolier my Budgie faves. All the albums are good though.Long live Budgie.

one of the best and underrated rock bands ever.
This album in particular is a forgotten treasure of awsomeness.
Great tone and atmosphere on this album, very underrated
This group reminds me quite a bit of Triumph from the same era.
Budgie realesed their firts album in 1971 triumph 1977 there are huge gaps between both bands , budgie the most underrated band in the rock history
@@ranatoro1910 I love triumph, great 3 piece.
@@ranatoro1910 by a mile.. Tremendous band. Budgie!!
awesome 9th album from in my opinion the most underrated rock band ever budgie, this is more darker from their first 8 albums but quite good, and i would say wales best ever rock band too, what a 3 piece band, and that album cover so bad ass. their 11 studio albums if you are a rock fan everyone should own so damm good. and i ain't joking. just pure magic.
When ever this original cd hits ebay..I get outbid.&28-$52 USD...It's a real cool cd inside and out.

This album is so 80's but in a good way.
The early 80s had great music. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio era Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Rush, Belew/Levin era King Crimson, Zappa, more punk/ new wave stuff like Iggy Pop, Talking Heads, Devo, Dead Milkmen, even Alice Cooper went new wave during his coke fuelled early 80s. Lots of killer party soundtrack music.
@@markrago5024 When people talk shit about '80s' music they miss all those bands you just mentioned. I think those cheesy Casio synths and drum machines ruined a lot of music in the early 80s. But AC/DC had their mega selling LP Back in Black in 1980, and even Mutt Lange couldn't ruin it! Mutt Lange and Bob Rock (of Bon Jovi and Metallica fame) kinda ruined hard rock/metal for me, trying to score arena rock hits and smoothing over too many rough edges (and what's rock with some rough edges?)
I like too much of this band. When ear the first time i know who is the Rush. But this sound is different. Good, many good.😎
l..l Awesome Band Migthy Genius l..l
Another great album from this marvelous band! Pure rock`n`roll!
ive been trying to find this forever thank you
This is one of the most epic rock songs ever.

Great album
Ah, great band
Saw them in 1980 in Gloucester - power trio rocked the venue and sounded damn awesome
This isn't quite the same style as earlier material, but still rocks and my ears/head still love it
Been a fan since 1976 and I still love this band, always will!
Just discovered Budgie. Amazing
Can Budgie still rock without Tony Bourge?. Yes, They can. From 1972 when I was 22. And in 1981 here they rocked hard. I have sold most of my record collection but, Let it be known. When it comes to Rock music this guys are legends. Very under ratted at that.
not just the music, but the album cover art is also pretty sick..... not many records had such cool cover back in early 80's
Same artist for the cover as iron maiden
Ooooh man... Listening to first track... I turned to stone.... OMG !!!!
I have always been a fan of the infectious riff oriented compositions for which Budgie is famous ever since I heard "Guts." This is good music and less schmaltzy than their "in my room" stuff but doesn't have that drive that I love from Budgie. Still, I'll keep it on my list for when I want something less intensive.
had this album on vinyl after seeing on this tour supporting ian gillan on his double trouble tour back in '81. anyone else have this album on vinyl?
Yeah dude
Yes I have this on vinyl too I met budgie when they supported ozzy Osbourne on the blizzard of oz tour Burke Shelley spoke to us for ages best budgie album
@@johndegg1605 I went to see them topping the bill at an 80's metal night in a local sports hall. 6 band were there, but Budgie couldn't make it. Burke has tonsillitis at the time. #Gutted.
Yes I would have been gutted too but the 80's rock scene was the best ever nothing could touch that era the only bands that get close are burning witches and power wolf remember seeing marillion at my local rock pub for about£1:50 and met all the band some great memories but night flight was a stand out album for me
@@johndegg1605 Yeah Night flight was the start of an upgraded sound. John taking lead guitar was a great step forward. He was a power house and lifted the band to another level. Then was flowers in the attic. It softened to whole sound with keyboards.

Fucking superb!
najlepsza kapela na świecie :-)
I am waiting for this LP to get to my house. I bought an original pressing off of E-Bay.
I honestly did not know about this band until the death of John Thomas on the 4th of this month.
I am a HUGE music fan, and I have no idea how this band slid under my radar for so long.
Either way, I like to think that John's death was not in vain, as it turned me onto a band that he once played guitar in and it is like he is living again.
GaminOnYa Check out the first Phenomena album with Glenn Hughes. Either that one or Dream Runner had Big John Thomas on. I can't remember which though. I believe it was the first one though.
GaminOnYa It was the first Phenomena album. Tracks 1-3,5,8
yes,wonderful album.....
Hope you check out the old lineup with Tony Bourge as well , he was awesome
@@jamesridgeway6517 the best
Saw this band support Gillan at Gloucester leisure centre in1980! They were fucking awesome!
This reminds me of what happened with Black Sabbath during the Tony Martin years. I think a lot of the fans of the early records might not enjoy this one. I think it's really awesome though. The darker tone is a really nice contrast to their early discography.
budgie doing the nwobhm, not bad
Totally agree with the comparison. Both eras of both bands are amazing.
Totally different band after Big John took over from Tony Bourge, loved them both.

A great band, criminal that streaming services only have two of their albums. They inspired Dave Mustaine and Lars Ulrich for gods sake.
They inspired Steve Harris.
