Yeah 4.5 hours! I was on a mission. Because it was all unbuilt it was more efficient, say for the Chainrasps..I built 5 of the same model and scraped all 5 of the same lines so it was quick to find where they were. Most boring stage though ha!
There is no way anyone can do a good job of mold line removing and gap filling in 4.5 hours. Just get rid of the biggest ones once the entire model is assembled. 4.5 hours is 270 minutes. 2 minutes 42 seconds per model to cut it from a sprue, glue it up and place it in a base. Even for troops this is extremely fast - for me probably just cutting it accurately would take 2-3 minutes. And for bigger models? Impossible. It's just unrealistic. Either he rushed through it doing a fast and lousy job for a youtube video and then cherrypick the footage... Or it took him way, waaaay longer than that and he is lying to have a nice clickbait title. Midwinter minis when doing his necrons claimed they spent several weeks on assembly alone, doing 2-3 hours here and there. And you mean to say you can do it in 3 minutes per model? Get outta here! No "mission" or determination gives you those results. 😮
25 years in the hobby and I can't praise those army painting video enough. A godsend for the community. No more excuses for the grey tide! Awesome awesome work mate
I stopped making excuses this weekend, sat down and said I wasn't standing up until Lauka Vai was done. Best model I've ever done, including my first time doing NMM and OSL, and it was all done in one shot (minus drying time).
This video was entertaining, but the real best part of the video was the effort you put in to the description to show absolutely everything you did, used, and referenced in the video. Great job man!
One of the best tutorials ive seen and motivated me to paint a Night Haunt army that I have had sitting around for a couple years. You sir have a new Subscriber.
super please I found this vid, I have had an unpainted night haunt army for ages and could not find anyone who has painted them without using a super clean ghost look. many thanks man
I am so grateful. I am about to start Warhammer and i was looking for a way to paint nighthaunts, but a little more dark theme. This is perfect. Thank you. Also for listing everything in the box.
That's awesome, Nighthaunts are so cool :) If I ever play Age of Sigmar I'd play that faction and I'd probably use the this speed painting video for reference :) Although I think I would have added a blue hue to the zenithal to give them a cool incorporeal feel to them.
Yeah exactly, I think people lose a lot of time when they haven't thought of a scheme and start off experimenting etc. Once you have a scheme...just smash through the stages and bam! Ha
@SlayerMiniatures They are all very consistent in the overall painting theme you chose. So I like them all. Also, the video was very well done. I enjoyed watching it a lot!
This looks dope. This paint scheme definitely took it from ethereal spooky to tactile ghoulish. I really liked the leaves. I actually have this whole army in the box still.
Wow what an epic army. I can't believe it only took 24 hours. Amazing skills and effort. Hope it sells for decent amount so you can keep making videos.
This video is great!! Thanks for sharing. Something I learned was to use your leaf cutter on real leaves to get a more natural look. I personally have not tried this yet.
Yeah I would have done that myself but weren't many around when I painted it all. I also think you need to varnish over them to stop them decomposing and breaking up into dust.
I don’t know anything about models or table top games, BUT the artistry is stunning. If I could ever get paid to do a new hobby I’d just paint these all the time lol. Looks so fun with stunning results
It really is so much fun. I just sit in silence and chill. Experimenting and having fun. So relaxing too!..if you don't beat yourself up too much when you make mistakes :)

@@SlayerMiniatures I'd really like to see more Age of Sigmar content. I've just gotten into it and could definitely use some inspiration! Keep up the great work! 👍
Nice! I'll look forward to that! I just started buying the Death vangard sets so I think I'm going to use this technique for all of the box sets to hopefully make one massive death grim dark set of minitures. Keep posting man, these videos are great! Thank you! @@SlayerMiniatures
If you wanted to go faster on the bone, a technique Marco uses on his cursed city skeletons is just a thick burnt umber oil wash over a white (then clean most of it off). I’ve done it and it’s super super easy. With oil washes, it’s often better to batch paint applying all the washes to a single model at once (I even use different brushes to avoid contamination too much), and adding another color/area adds maybe 5 seconds per model or something. It’s great!
Back in the late 80's and early 90's there was a sieres of books that showcased ghost storys with dark artwork. This army has that "feal" to it and is what I was looking for my own Nighthaunt army. The only thing I would do differently is no oil wash, just nuln oil and a drybrush of a hexwrathe maybe.
Glad you liked it! Check out Grimdark Compendium if you want green in it. This scheme is based off theirs but I use different paints to speedpaint it and went for a natural flame glow
Hi gavin, there is no exact measuring. I literally just estimate like in the video. It's a rough mix. You honestly can't go wrong with it. If it's too weak just add a tad more oil, if it's too strong...more spirits. Whenever I mix a new batch I just test it on a test base or model. If you can see it spread out and look for recesses you have enough spirit. If it's too light add a touch more ink.
Great video! Scheme looks great. Just finished my army using your scheme with some minor tweaks. Tried finding your twitter to send some photos but couldn't see it. Thanks for the content.
@LylaMev recently did a video on NMM stormcast, and she suggested using coffee filters for making the leaves, since the paint soaks through the filter and won't leave (ha ha) a white edge around the leaf.
Oh right, great idea, unfortunately all my coffee filters are brown and I wanted autumnal coloured leaves, also white edges aren't a problem with these as I put a dab of oil wash on top to blend it in to the bases. Thanks for the tip though!
I dont know what it is, i think its probably the aphex twin selected ambient works vol2 esque music, but i absolutely love your grimdark videos, the slow pace just feels atmospheric, i actually bought a chaos marine army after watching your vids to paint using elements of your grim dark style with my own style. bravo.

You assembled over 100 models in four hours! At the 24 hour mark I'd have still been sat there meticulously scraping away mould lines 😂
