Too funny - after watching your dyno vid where you removed the lid from the airbox, I ordered a stock airbox lid and the same sprint filter to do this exactly like you did. Got them sitting on my counter waiting for my bike to show up, and I'm really pumped now, because I was worried about running lean. Looks like no worries there.
Thanks so much for the research you’ve done so far. As an owner of the 698, I feel fortunate that you are interested in it. My bike indeed runs better with your lid. By the way, I found the torx screws are actually T10. A t8 or t9 will work as well. As they are only going into plastic with hardly any holding torque needed, an 8 or 9 will work; I’m very much looking forward to when you can tune it! I want to buy your tune. At the track, accelerating to the limiter, you can feel it get a bit softer (as your graphs show) at 8500 rpm.
Hopefully Woolich gets on it asap. Really curious to see where this goes. I was trying to get them to do the KLX300SM but I don't think I will ever see that unfortunately.
This is great work and really interesting! Why do you think the stock bike is limited in this way? Noise/emissions? I guess it has to meet regulations for multiple countries? Why couldn't I simply drill out my stock lid? Is the airflow speed high enough for aero to matter?
yes sound emissions, sure you can modify your stock lid. smooth is always best and im not sure it would be rigid enough with the center cut out but go for it if you want
Have you decided on any exhaust options? There aren't that many out there yet and I haven't seen any sound videos. I might just cross my fingers and get one for my RVE and hope it's good.
I have ordered the factory termis and will be starting with them. Not sure if that will be the last one. But ill be testing this intake setup with them and the updated ecu
Hi! I have a Hypermotard 698 with a power reduction. I cut open the lid of the airbox and noticed an improvement in low-gear smoothness. Now, I’m waiting for my P08 filter to arrive. I wanted to ask if the power reduction is only done through the ECU or if it also involves modifications to the engine?
The f1 is waterproof the p08 is fine to get wet it just absorbs it and dries out The f1 is rated at a higher flow rate but has a lower rating for filtration. Ive tested them back to back on several platforms and have never seen more power from the f1 I recommend the p08 for this platform
I tried to capture it but on the dyno my cooling fans are so loud they drown it out and on the road i couldnt get a good place to capture the intake sound. You will have to take my word on it. Lol
@@vcyclenut Big bore thumpers sound pretty good on song, with the right style open-throat muffler. Years ago I worked for a short time at a dealership and a technician had a full custom XR650R that he'd built, with a loud pipe, aftermarket carb, tuned and the rest. Sucker really barked when he took off wheeling up the street.
I picked up a DNA filter and even that made a difference without the new lid. DNA claims almost 80% more flow rate vs stock filter so the factory setup is obviously very restrictive.
Let me translate it to plain language... "insane gains" = +3% HP, +10% torque.... LOL. Still less everything than a 690 SM with just a filter swap and cheap Wings slipon. :D
HaHa, you KNOW the Ducati is the better bike, but are too drunk on the orange kool-aid to admit it. I own a '23 690E with a Wings and a previous '18 701E with an Arrow, both with the EVO air box lid, so I know what the LC4 is and what it isn't.
@@garydrummond9129 I owned an SMC R and now a 698 and the Ducati is the better bike through and through. From build quality to electronics to performance. The only thing that KTM fanboys can claim is better is low end torque and spoked wheels for the 'off-roading' that they never, ever do anyway. I personally could car less about off-roading since I ride exclusive on pavement and road course tracks. I welcome the high peak power of the 698. Plus, the 698's engine even in stock form revs to quickly and smoothly that the lack of low end torque doesn't even matter. The engine is spinning at 7k RPM in the blink of an eye. Want torque? Rev it out. The 698 engine is made to rev and stay at high RPMs. The rabid KTM fanboys is coping so hard at how much better the 698 is over the SMC R. It's pathetic, and I thought they were better than this.
"Never in the history of Ducati has ≈$150 gotten you so much" 😂 Fact
You've got me really excited about the development of the RVE. I'm looking forward to doing this to my bike.

Just received my Termingoni exhaust and the new airbox lid top is completely open similar to yours, but with additional bracing in the middle 👍
Nice! Mine should be here soon
Hey man
Did your exhaust come with instructions or is it all self explanatory?
Awesome work David.. keep up the good work - I’ve got the filter and was going to do something similar with the oem lid 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks 👍

thanx for the inspiration. i will design and print my own.
Go for it!

you're a pioneer 😁

Idk
With proper tuning I can see another 4 - 5 HP on top getting it real close to 80 wheel HP which is a lot for this type of engine and bike.
What is the difference between the 2 filters? Which one to buy? Thank you!

Seems like with the all new bikes airbox are the limiting factor
not air box, but air box lid (inlet) , very different
Awesome work - any sound videos coming?

great job, awessome
Thank you! Cheers!
How about power gains with the Ducati exhaust and ECU combined with sprint filter and airbox
Add race gas and get 90hp at the wheel
Ill be testing with the termi exhaust and ecu. Not with race gas. Hate that shit
Do you have an exhaust system for the 698 in mind?
I have the factory termi’s on order. Been waiting since I got the bike for them

time will tell
Do you have any part numbers for these filters?
They are for sale here

No sound of the new airbox?
I tried. On the dyno my cooling fans are too loud and I couldn’t capture it on the road.

Add that lid for even better gains!! :)
$75 for a cheaply 3d printed lid??? good grief

+3% hp? If you only look at peak number, sure.
I am just getting started :)

Let me translate: CFmoto/KTM can go f' themselves with their chinesium camshafts and optional camshaft lubrication.
Pierer/KTM: the dildo of consequences rarely arrives lubed.
