When he died I felt like I lost a family member and was disturbed for days afterwards. Every time I watch it I never not feel all the same emotions. This show was on another level one that will never be matched.
Same here. I was just sick when Nate died. He was an amazing character. Have you ever watched that NBC series Parenthood? Peter Krause (the guy playing Nate) is in it, and he plays a character very similar to Nate.
One of few shows where I loved every main character and wanted them to be happy. They all had flaws but they were really good people. Such a beautiful series. I wish more people watched it and got something as profound as I did out of it.
"Death, life, everything -- it's all completely suffused with static. But if you listen to the static too much it f_cks you up." Nate always had some profound things to say.
The episode that dealt with Nate's funeral and how his death effected his family makes me cry everytime I rewatch the series. Claire and David and the way they grieved for him and especially the "Knocking On Heaven's Door" at his wake and Rico's tearful eulogy had me sobbing. This show was so much more than entertainment. It was wholesome and good for the soul.
The static is an analogy for life. We spend our entire life trying to break through the static, waiting for luck, love and fortune to meet us in the middle, to pull us through to the other side of the noise of living. I miss this show.
This is perhaps the ONLY show I can think of where when people swore, it felt both natural AND funny! Other shows just seem like they are doing it for added melodrama.
I just wanna check. Are you still alive? This show has instilled inside of me a weird curiosity of knowing if someone who wrote a comment few years ago is still alive
I remember feeling very saddened when Nate died. Peter Krause is one of my all time favorite actors. He also did a terrific job playing Adam Braverman in the NBC series Parenthood. The character of Adam bore a lot of similarities to Nate.
With all of Claire’s infuriating moments, I think she will always be a favorite character. She and Nate’s relationship hit me in a deeper way, being the youngest in my family and having an unknown and tumultuous relationship with my oldest sibling. When Claire was telling Ted in the car about how she kept on thinking about when Nate wouldn’t let her interview him for school as “the person you know the least in your family” after he had died instead of the good times, that profoundly affected me. And during this scene where Nate is starting the conversation of Claire leaving California and moving on with her life. Right afterwards, she gets in her “lime green” hearse and drives away, just to total it after hitting a deer, feels even more impactful. As that car, which I get myself attached to even, is unsalvageable. That is symbolic of Claire leaving behind her teenage hood and this life in California. The first time we see her in her new car is when she is driving off to New York during the finale. Even though Claire and Nate have a clear relationship, I feel like we don’t get to see them interact as much. This is especially apparent to me when Claire has visions of Nate after he dies constantly. And he is constantly giving her advice, moving her along, asking the deep questions. My favorite moment in this show is when we see Nate running in her car mirror, eventually getting behind and is no longer seen. Nate’s (and their father’s) ghost, the death and disaster of the funeral home that was once her own, Ruth encouraging her to leave…. This is the most meaningful growing up and getting over it story I have seen.
I'm guessing you didn't watch the show. Some characters are written to curse a lot for the sake of their character. Both Nate and Claire curse a lot. Not all of the characters do. In this scene, that impulse is exacerbated by their circumstances - grief/anger over Nate's recent death. But the dialogue from this show is some of the best written material on TV. There's a reason why viewers and critics heralded the writing and acting on this show. Check out the show - it's definitely worth it.
I think a lot of the fbombs in the show are added by the actors in-the-moment during the scene. Claire, especially, uses them a lot. The dialogue is brilliant, IMO.

P Walls yes I have ❤️ I love Peter Krause
Well said.
I know, I feel like the Fishers were my family (or friends)... real people, not characters. ❤️

Nate running away, is symbolic of his character
Nate running away and he’s a bloody ghost hahahaha!
"Death, life, everything -- it's all completely suffused with static. But if you listen to the static too much it f_cks you up." Nate always had some profound things to say.
Ironically his character was always listening to the static most of the time

There will never be another show that captures grief and black comedy as good and thorough and human as SFU.
Yes never
This is perhaps the ONLY show I can think of where when people swore, it felt both natural AND funny! Other shows just seem like they are doing it for added melodrama.
Yes very down to earth and real ❤️
Have you tried Deadwood? Swearing is literature there

I just wanna check. Are you still alive? This show has instilled inside of me a weird curiosity of knowing if someone who wrote a comment few years ago is still alive
"You know everything about the entire fucking universe but you don't know what's out there right now?" I miss Claire so much.
That was a great comic relief. Gotta love this show. So true to life
This show was so brilliant!
Are you still alive Ms/Mrs?
Best show ever
Agreed.
Yet nobody seems to talk about anymore. I felt like it got ignored after it ended. Hence why it's yet to get released on Blu-Ray.
It should get released on Blu-ray. The show deserves it; it's among the best ever made.
🤧 always great for a good cry
Is everyone from this reply section alive? I have this weird curiosity cuz of the show

Miss the Fishers
Are you still alive brother?
dark humor at its peak
When I saw this I thought Claire would die. Specially because a similar death they showed in a jungle couple of episodes before this.

Finally just figured out where Direction by Interpol is used. It was like the one song on the soundtrack I couldn't place.
me too .. one of the best on TV. Alan Ball hasn't done anything this good since.
I was so worried for a minute! When I originally watched this I was SURE that Claire was gonna be attacked by that predator, maybe even killed!

Amazing show I got it on dvd boxes.
1:00 that music and that words from her painful sorrow...
Such an amazing show...
@Jessie Thompson Only Breaking Bad, but Six Feet Under is the best TV Show ever.
+BRW the wire is ten times better
Game of Thrones. HBO make the best TV ever like they did with SFU and The Wire.
@@KCgrunge Actually I don't think The Wire is anywhere close, because of uneven level of seasons. Some were great, others were not.

Fucking superb
The growl sounded like a wolf, but the animal more resembled a fox or coyote.
HBO!
when the characters were high so were the "ghosts"
It would've been funny if she had dropped her keys.
Who could ever say something like this lol.... REALLY ? it's the BEST Lines EVER, so much quotes I can remember like any other tv show. pfff!

The Nate's grave?
DrChristianShepard Yes, is the Nate's grave
😭😭😭😭
I have to stop listening to the static.
Espero morir antes que mi hermano
What network does this show come on?
TV Land
HBO
All comments are about them cussing. Lol 5 years ago sure had a sensitive croud of people.
The dialog in this show is quite stupid like people who
must use the "F" word in every sentence for lack of
an intelligent vocabulary.
Alot of people use the word fuck in every sentence especially when a death happens everyone gets hysterical
Oh fuckin blow me, you fuck-nut. I bet you're fucking fun at your lame-ass fuckin parties you go to. :)
You are the FUCKIN stupid here
I think a lot of the fbombs in the show are added by the actors in-the-moment during the scene. Claire, especially, uses them a lot. The dialogue is brilliant, IMO.
I hope in 9 years time, you have learned more about brilliance.
