Other than the primary characters, Death remains my favorite character of SPN. He's so supremely confident, indifferent, and well aware of the power he wields...but he still knows to say exactly what he needs to say to the insignificant beings beneath him. He is the only person who is even close to God's level, and he knows it, and as a result, he is just so...awesome. And I mean that word in the original sense it was created. Dean is very correct--this is way above his pay-grade.
"God? You'll reap God?" - "Oh yes. God will die too, Dean." So, in hindsight, Death will have likely read Chuck/God's book and seen how his life ends. Must've been most amusing... and likely one of the reasons why Death was so willing to help the Winchesters (or at least, not be antagonistic towards them), even despite what was going to happen to him...

Played death character perfectly in every way
They can always bring him back if they bring back the series, "As long as anything dies. I exist."
I like that dean decides to use the silverware instead of just his hands to be more polite.
The actor who plays death is amazing. What amazing acting
Mr Richings nailed this part! This was one of the best scenes in the series.
“Dinner date” “ sounds absolutely delicious “ ❤😂❤😂
This is one of those characters where I couldn’t see anyone other than Julian Richings playing the roll.
Killing him was the worst mistake this show made.
Facts!
“To a thing like me, a thing like you, well…*sluuuurrrp*
"oh yes, God will die to dean" that will never fail to be my favourite line.
I loved this version of death the best. He was so intimidating. He genuinely scared the crap out of both Sam and Dean
Season 5 was a fantastic finale
Everything else with obviously some exceptions is total fan service, boring with the same motivo. When Humans were started punching angels and demons and winning was so akwkard to watch. Meeeeh 🤮
Back when supernatural was actually good and serious. I never understood why they went for the goofy ass crap, this more serious, grim and darker tone fitted the show so much better and the best episodes/storyline was when they channeling these qualities.
The first five seasons are perfect.
I always thought Dr Who should have taken huge inspiration from this guy.
Imagine him playing a calm and collected Master or Toymaker
Nothing is more terrifying than how Death is eating that pizza.
"..How insignificant I find you." That type of power means my life is less than meaninglessness to an entity as such.
Thanos might have snapped trillions away into oblivion. But these lives were only the onces who were there at that time.
We don't even have a word for the number of lives Death claimed to become one with him.
"Oh, yes. God will die, too, Dean." And then they massacred my guy, not once, but two times. And the second time, when she slaps Dean, they just made a mockery out of Death, at that point. At least Billy was hot, but didn't have the presence of Julian Richings. Though, it would've been funny as hell if Billy caught Dean eyeing "her" female form and just gave him a deadpan stare like "Dean!" Dean quickly meets her eye, knowing he was caught, and "she" just looking at him with a slightly tilted head, like 'Really?'
I'll never forget the promo for this episode. It had such a palpable vibe to it.
I love how Dean brush's over the fact death sort of insinuates aliens exist and he reaps them.
Negative, kripke confirmed years ago that aliens don't exist in the supernatural universe.
@@unropednope4644 I mean, if earth was created by god which is in this universe, death and anything not born on it are aliens.
one of the most intense scenes ever, well done
Death using a fork and knife to eat a slice of pizza is so... unsettling
I love how Death basically confirmed there's alien civilizations out there saying that earth is barely out of its infancy.
"Join me, dean, the pizza's delicious" id take him up on his offer without hesitation. You had me at pizza😅
One thing i never really understood
or remember depending on if it was explained is okay lucifer is in hell but doesn't that mean that the spell is still in effect even while he is in hell
*INFINITY IS BLUE. FROM THE OUTSIDE.*
-Death.
“How could Death seem more terrifying?”
*Death eats pizza with fork and knife*
I really liked this version of Death. My headcanon is that just when Billie thought she had it all this one pops up with a scythe in hand and says "you didn't think it would be this easy did you?'' and then beheads her and takes his spot back.
God will die too, Dean."
So, in hindsight, Death will have likely read Chuck/God's book and seen how his life ends. Must've been most amusing... and likely one of the reasons why Death was so willing to help the Winchesters (or at least, not be antagonistic towards them), even despite what was going to happen to him...
Bacteria can't think at all. This guy is not brighter that Dean.
An entire city saved by deep dish. Let’s see a floppy New York slice do that.
Chicago saved simply because Death liked the Deep Dish Pizza.
Deep dish pizza: as powerful as Dean when Sam is in danger.
Eating pizza with a fork clearly the man is pure evil
Just very fastidious.
Yea okay im so insignificant. And yet here you are.
Julian Richings is a Canadian (British but he’s ours) legend. He’s such an under rated and under utilized actor.
Greatest version of Death ever. This first scene was so creepy and well done. Also this was the only character Dean was scared sh*tless of.
This was the best portrayal of death ever.
Ah, these were indeed the best times of the Supernatural series. Absolutely loved it.
“In news today Chicago seemed to avoid the storm of the century, instead a pressure shift has brought brother the storm clouds over New York”
Deep dish is the best pizza.
When Supernatural had good actors and an actual plot. Good old times...
The whole reap God line could've been a great foreshadowing.
Just finished watching season 5. I was warned not watch anything beyond as it visible that the show wasn't made for it. But what people tell me is that even with how bad it got, Death still remained one of the most terrifying characters.
Julian Richings. Another terribly underrated star. Been in showbiz since the late 80s. Has tonnes of credits to his name but still not a lot of people know who he is.
@cs1-p5e Yes
I kind of wish we could have seen his true form and it being the stereotypical ragged black robe with hood, equiped with a old large scythe 😅
they could have done so much more with this. like making a leash around Chuck.
Dean: so this is the part where you kill me?
Death:……..lol no you don’t use a atom bomb to knock a tree down😂
you have an inflated sense of your importance ... message to all of my acquaintances =)))
I always loved that they made death a foodie
The storm outside gets worse the longer the conversation goes😂
First death and now Beerus.. Food saves us
Eating pizza with knife and fork is very unsettling
He made Dean use a knife and fork! Real power.
