    • @pedrosequeira9829
      @pedrosequeira9829 3 года назад +10

      Hey, thanks a lot, I had a lot of fun building this one.
      Kobold actually gets more stuff done than you'd initially assume. He gets Mox Amber, Springleaf Drum and Curse of Opulense online from turn one, along with Deflecting Swat. He also triggers Runaway Steam-Kin for free.
      I've had playtests where I got Forge of Heroes to +1/+1 him on turn 01 and trigger the Spectacle on Light Up the Stage/Grenzo on turn 02.
      He increases the payoff from Fury Storm with little to no investment, and at times you use him to reduce the cost of Blasphemous Act or get a bunch of mana and burning him up with Jeska (along with two others) to recast both him and the walker at 4+ Loyalty.
      Finally, he triggers Vault of Champions on cast and, because of Menace, frequently is just adding counters to it for free. Oh, and he makes your Tanglewire a cakewalk :3
      There's probably more you can do with him on MonoRed but I'm really happy with how relevant he actually is for the deck.

    8:50 Minor misplay, but Mox Amber can't tap for blue, as Sakashima is a copy of Krark and thus is red, not blue. Not that it should have affected anything, as Luis could have tapped lands differently and left an Island open instead of the Mountain.

    My head's been spinning think about all the crazy stuff you could do with Krark/Sakashima, I've been thinking that it would probably be cEDH viable but don't play competitively so I wasn't sure. I would built it with some more clones in the 98 than Luis, which might make it less competitive but I wouldn't actually be building it that way so that's fine. Spell clones like Quasiduplicate rather than creature clones like Clone with the hopes of copying the clone and then getting a bunch more clones so I can make a bunch more copies of things like Rite of Flame so I can play and copy things like Lightning Bolt until everyone's dead. No extra turns or cEDH stuff like Lion's Eye Diamond, just lots of card draw, rituals, direct damage, and of course cloning effects.

    • @SplitSecond
      @SplitSecond  3 года назад

      Well, while that can be a direction you could take, only Spark Double, the old Sakashima and Helm of the Host could help you with that, since all other clones would make the legendary creature be legendary as well. And if someone happened to kill your "true" sakashima, all of those would die as well, since legendary rule would apply again. :)
      But that's what we aim in the channel, to give different ideas to people on what they can build! That's something you can try out! ;) If you want join us on discord for some brewing, or later discussion on how it came to be a deck like that :)

    • @alexanderforbes1452
      @alexanderforbes1452 3 года назад

      @@SplitSecond That's actually wrong, if you clone the Sakashima then all those clones will each have the same "the legend rule doesn't apply to you" text. So as long as you target the Sakashima Krark rather than the original Krark with your clone spells it wouldn't be an issue.

    • @SplitSecond
      @SplitSecond  3 года назад

      @@alexanderforbes1452 Yes that is true but then you are revolving half your deck on one of your partners to be out (and the more costly). Or else you can't use them. I believe there's also an artifact that does the same. You can try it, it just seems that if you have your OG sakashima dealt with a couple of times it ends up being hard to cast him and then all your clones in hand will be kinda stuck.

  • @UnknownDutch
    @UnknownDutch 3 года назад

    Doesnt saccing treasure tokens trigger Bloodchief's Ascension ? for example when Sequeira sacs them at 10:21 and probably some other spots in the game?
    A: Tokens go to the graveyard as regular creatures, and are removed as a "state-based effect" when a player gets priority again. They stay in the graveyard long enough to trigger abilities, like the one of Soulcatchers' Aerie, before they are removed.

    • @SplitSecond

      Just think without the knowledge and with your life high it's not worth trading Liesa for Giant, yes card draw is a pain but there is a reason Liesa is the commander, you want her in play, if she's worse than the Giant then fair enough but I dont think so.

    Have a q for the Liesa deck, why run Ad Nauseam and Angel's Grace when there is no finisher for it that I can see?

    • @SplitSecond
      @SplitSecond  3 года назад

      Angel''s grace is a great card on its own being able to stop TO. Ad Nauseam is included as you can net a lot of life with Liesa and other cards. It doesn't mean you will do them both together. Even if you would you can finish with Heliod+ballista for instance.

      @@LordRedhand I personally do'nt like Sickening Dreams. It's not a bad card, but I would rather play a Wrath of God or Damnation and keep the cards in my hand. You can try and playtest it on your list and it might just work out for you. Angel's Grace and Ad Nauseum is for the above metioned reasons.

    I don't wanna be that guy, but given you're in mono-red and you're already playing Goblin Recruiter, why have you left a Snoop line out?

    • @pedrosequeira9829
      @pedrosequeira9829 3 года назад +2

      Nothing wrong with asking ^^ I considered it (and there were also some lines with Priest of Urabrask and Curio, not as good as Snoop lines) but when I tested Snoop, it felt like the pieces didn't accomplish anything by themselves and I was starting to have some loose low impact cards.
      I know that from a cEDH standpoint I sometimes play with whacky cards (like the oneshot dragons for this deck), but those to me accomplish the goal of killing the table versus stax. The more I streamline just into combo and make the deck more focused into 1-2 ideas, especially in monored and with combos that aren't consistently tutorable, the more a single grind in my gears throws me almost out of the game. I don't like being just a spectator.

    Luis could have drawn 2 cards from his Disrupt copies if he had one copy target the other copy (while the original is still targeting the consultation) (edit: rather, the second copy targets the original - the two copies are never on the stack at the same time)

    • @SplitSecond
      @SplitSecond  3 года назад

      We actually thought about that after the resolution of the stack, but it was done, and that way could be dealt with a mental misstep. So it was safer that way

    • @jfb-
      @jfb- 3 года назад +1

      @@SplitSecond I get that it's an easy thing to miss, but it actually either way of doing it has the same effect vs misstep - the precise order of triggers is:
      - First, you have the original Disrupt targetting Consultation, and 2 coin flip triggers
      - First coin flip trigger resolves, comes up heads, and copies disrupt, targetting consultation
      This is the point where a misstep could be cast (but won't as it there are now 2 disrupts so one misstep would be ineffective). The outcome of the second coin flip also isn't known yet
      - Then the disrupt copy resolves, counters consultation, and draws a card
      - Then the second coin flip trigger resolves, comes up heads, and creates another disrupt copy. It can choose to keep the same target (even though it's an illegal target) and fizzle or it can target the original disrupt.
      I played a lot of Lucky Clover when it was in standard so the precise order of copy triggers comes up a lot

    • @SplitSecond
      @SplitSecond  3 года назад

      That's indeed correct. When it came up the way the conversation went Luís said he was going to draw 3 because 2 coin flips resolved and Baal pointed out it wasn't that way since after the first resolved the next ones would fizzle, so it didn't crossed our minds to simply change the targets and do it properly as you mentioned ;)

    • @SplitSecond
      @SplitSecond  3 года назад +4

      Are you referring to Curio's interaction?
      Cloudstone Curio cares about Permanent type. It can bounce lands, creatures, etc (as long as nonartifact). So Rograkh and Dockside don't need to share a creature type (as in, "tribe"), they just both need to be creatures!
