Congrats, nice LJ Yellowtail. Thanks for sharing. Tight lines.
Thanks for watching!
Oh my goodness. How fun to watch. I am amazed at how much gear and hi-tech gadgets you have on that thing. I laughed when I saw you putting it into the cooler. No matter what, you would have made it fit! Nice job making and taking the time to enjoy what you love.
Thanks! It's a lot but you always wish you had more with you. Even though you're better off without it! I will say the fish finder is key though.
Awesome catch man!! Getting my first kayak soon, and looking forward going out in la jolla and SD Bay. The goal is yellowtail. From one Kook to another super fun to watch. 😎🤙🏽
Nice! Get out there! I just caught a lingcod and a sheep head out there and should have a video out on it soon.
Angel Amicay .
What kayak you end up buying ?
Wow 🤩
Bro that was amazing
🍺👍🏽👍🏽
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing ,got worried for a bit when your lines crossed . Beautiful Yellowtail
Now that was a nice fish - great job dude!
Thanks for watching! I appreciate the support!
Congrats. Well done, lad.
Thanks for watching!
Hell yeah Dude, that was SICK!!!! Always dig your vids, please keep ‘em coming! What was your setup?
Definitely will! Thanks for watching. That rod was an Okuma PCH Rod 20 TO 50 with an avet MXL reel. Running 40lb test to a Carolina rig.
Going to start surf fishing, might give this try also
That's awesome! I am thinking of getting a kayak and hoping to land a monster like that! Good job!
Do it! Time on the water is all it takes. One of the best purchases I've made.
Great video man 🤙🏾
Thanks for watching! Check out the others of you haven't already!
Very Nice fish Dude.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed. Keep tuning in!
Sweet yellowtail! Congratulations
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
Congratulations, nice catch!!
Thanks! Gotta get out there and get another now that it's summer time!
Congrats, that was a good yellow
Thanks for watching!
I wish I had a kayak to go do some fishing with! I'd love to get out on the water! Keep up the GREAT work good sir! I'm hoping to go out there with a friend who is getting his 25' Skipjack worked on. 🤙🤙
That's perfect size boat! One of these days...
@@SDKook I bet he has extra room! Let me know if you'd ever wanna go! 🤙🤙
Will do!
What a rush!!! Great footage and incredible catch! Your cooler cant handle one more fish anyway!😂🤣
I'd find a way to make it fit! 😂
Nice one bro! I'm gonna be hitting LJ hard and heavy starting now lol. I'll see you out there bro! Tight lines!
Thanks man! For sure. See you on the water.. things are heating up!
I wish i can kayak with you one day! once i get myself a hobie
Hey great vid. I got jetskis and want to add fish finders to them and get the right rods for offshore. What do you recommend?
Nice! Not much of an expert on fish finders, but can definitely help with the rods. I've been loving the Okuma PCH rods I think they are awesome bank for the buck. Go for the 30 to 60lb range of you're going offshore. Also if you want to troll grab a heavy setup with a penn senator. Classic setup. For reels I would probably go with an Avet SX, MX, JX depends on the rod. Or the Penn Fathom. Those things are bulletproof and you need to consider they will get way more wet than a normal boat. Wear and tear is a factor.
Hell yeah! Nice job. I'm Still learning!
Keep it up! Let me know if you want any tips from a fellow learner
Good video. 👍
Thank you! Thanks for supporting the channel!
Nice kayak! I got a new revo 13 as well a couple of months back in seagrass green. I'm curious to know what those bluish braces are on your mirage drive as mine didn't come with those.
Good fishing and great content!
Thanks! Those are actually how you adjust the pedal distance. I think the new ones have a button on top but this is a 2018 model and they are more like a grip motion. Thanks for watching! Keep tuning in!
Enjoyed your video, subbed and liked.
Thanks! Check out some other videos!
Nice upload, team Revo! How has the Baitrunner held up in the salt? I had a Thunnus that got sticky and had issues with the baitrunner drag after a season. Shimano ended up replacing. Tricky reels to use on the yak, particularly in saltwater.
The bait runner has been awesome. Super smooth but don't recommend for the kayak. Way too heavy! Thanks for watching!
Im hoping to get out there this year but hesitant about bringing my little 10ft paddle kayak that far
It will work as long as it is sit on top! Watch the latest video from SD Fish and Sips. He has a buddy on a small yak catching a Yellowtail. I just switched from a paddle kayak. 12ft though so a little bigger. Once you do it the first time you get more comfortable.
Nice. My mother-in-law lives there. I need to try it.
Thanks for watching!
How far behind the boat do you troll the mackerel? Any tips on finding mackerel without a fish finder?
I'm the kayak I was probably only put about 150ft. In the boat probably further
I like it, nice job on the yellowtail! I have to still get mine. Question, how come you kept reeling in your fish with the clicker still on?
Thanks! Was too hyped up to worry about turning it off ha! I would normally turn it off.
Who cares it doesn’t hurt anyone or anything
Duuuuuude!!! I’m gonna get a hobie outback, please show me how to do that! 😱😱😱
The new outback style looks sweet. Get yourself a boat and get out there! 🎣🎣🎣
@@SDKook will do ASAP, you should do a video on how to launch from there, I’ve never been there and even launching is intimidating, especially before sunrise lol. I’m not a noob at fishing but I definitely am at saltwater kayaking.
I just started kayak fishing in La Jolla any suggestions on where to go? Found a few rockfish the other day but it was hard to find any structure!
Lots of structure, but try to get beyond the kelp line and head south.. a popular spot is called "Northwest Corner". Look it up! Most of all, keep trying and have patience, you'll figure it out with more time on the water there.
Nice fish. What’s that bait tube you are using? Did you make that?
Yeah I made it, watched a couple of youtube vids on it. It is just a piece of 4" ABS pipe (they're precut at Home Depot), plus a couple of garden irrigation caps. One side glued on, the other side attached with a couple of holes and some bungie cord. Pretty easy and works great. Still has some drag in the water, but barely notice it.
Im going this weekend....u think yellow tail still in la jolla?
I went two days ago and watched a guy reel in a 25lb yellow. They are definitely still out there! Caught a bunch of barracuda too.
What kill bag is that? Ive always wanted to put one in the bow of my revo
The brand is Calcutta. Pretty sure the 36 inch model. It fits perfectly in the Revo bow lengthwise, but I have to taco shell the part in the front just a little bit to get it to fit. It doesn't effect my ability to put anything in it though. Boat rides a little bow heavy in chop but it isn't super noticable for me.
Wow what a monster!!! I'll guess the weight 10 pder?
It was right at 30lb!
hey amazing catch im from reno nevada and am planning a trip down to la jolla for memorial day weekend it wuld be amazing if you were going out that weekend and we could meet up
I may be out of town, but if not I'll try to make it! Can always give you some tips. Are you renting kayaks?
@@SDKook no i will be bringing down my outback
@@SDKook i should have all the gear I need or i can get it any tips would be greatly appreciated
I got a question
were you fishing with 3 rods at once?
Bro.. nice fish! About how deep did it hit?
I was fishing at 70ft of water. Thanks!
What's the depth finder you're using there?
Garmin striker vivid CV.
what lb test for the fly line set up?
I had two setups one was straight flyline at 20lb florocarbon, going super light to get a bite, and on the one that caught the fish was 30lb florocarbon. Both times I was bit on the 30lb.
@@SDKook Thanks for the reply!!
What size is your Daiwa lexa reel?
It's actually an okuma komodo it's the 451 I believe
Wilbur Kookmeyer Himself
How recent was this?
Never mind. Just saw it. I’m not even drunk either.
Just yesterday. I accidentally put may in my video.
Isn’t it april lol nice catch tho!
I'm just an NSync fan... It's gunna be mayyyy! 😂
I’m watching a video from the future!!!
The kayak is actually a DeLorean
@@SDKook lol!
If monster is 15-20lbs good for you!
30lb bled out. not a record breaker, but good for me!
I am in La Jolla, can I go with you ?
Sorry didn't see this! I was actually out on my boat. Hope you crushed it.
I'm looking for someone to fish with. I have a P.A14 I have only used 5x. I know how to fish , nobody to go with my fishing buddy died.
Shoot me a message next time you plan to go! I'll try to meet you if I can. I go alone often though, sometimes that's also nice. Sorry to hear about your friend.
@@SDKook tell me when you are going and I will go. I live in walnut I have a truck and my kayak is on a trailer that I made to hold 2 yaks. I'm down to go whenever. I want to catch a yellow on it.
Service that damn reel. It’s sticking too much. I lost a nice one in the rocks last week myself on 40 mono. Sucks.
Yeah I flipped my yak last week I'm sure it didn't help my reel much lol! I thought maybe 40lb would've helped... Sounds like maybe not. It cut 30 so easy
😂
