Hey Kooks! I'm Brandon, the San Diego Kook. In this channel I share my passion for saltwater fishing in Southern California. Come along to see me show you some of the best ways to catch bluefin tuna, yellowtail, dorado, halibut and other San Diego offshore fishing species. Bluefin Tuna Fishing at Tanner Bank 100 Miles Offshore with Constitution Sportfishing H&M Landing
Bluefin tuna fishing has been tough this year if you aren't going to one of the far offshore banks like Cortez and Tanner. For this year's Rosendin Electric Offshore Classic fishing tournament, we did exactly that! Horizon Sportfishing and Constitution Sportfishing loaded up with some teams eager to compete for the best team, biggest fish and smallest fish trophies. The fishing was slower than it had been, but we were able to catch several tuna and a few bonito to go along with it! All but one fish caught on flyline sardine baits.

We had some special guests in town from Wisconsin so we took Tim, Abby and Mark out fishing for Yellowtail at the Coronado Islands! Ben, Mike and I competed in the BD Outdoors (Bloody Decks) Yellowtail shootout fishing tournament this year and had an amazing time! Funny how these boat like to brag about catching fish. I spent 3 days on there and the whole boat only caught 3 fish. The captain would say all day “ we say we’re not trying to catch any fish we. We are trying to catch u the fish of a life time” all day for 3 days they would say the fish were under the boat but the wouldn’t bite. 20 plus people on that boat for 3 days and only 3 fish. Yeah not doing that boat again. And these guys were asking for extra money for fuel surcharge.

Does the Aztec provide the squid jigs for catching bait or bring your own?
How much is that worth?
Depends on market, but local fresh caught is typically $15 to $20 per pound. This fish after cleaning was probably about 18lbs so it's probably around a $300 fish

What size size and recommend tackle you use
I would bring a 25lb setup a 40lb setup and a 60lb setup for night time or sinker rig fishing

Funny thing. I fished the Constitution with Chris about a month ago. We BS the first day and I kept thinking I know this dude. Asked his last name and then asked if he remembered me. Gave him a couple hints, well we grew up about 6 houses away on the same street for about 12 years. Last saw him on Newport pier when he was about 17 years old! Small world!

Hey there! Using about 12 to 16oz depending on the current. I usually just default to more to avoid drifting too much.

What set up were you running for the yellowtail and night bite rod reel line?
I was running a 40lb dropper loop setup until I got rocked then bumped it up to 80lb. Several guys were running 60lb. The 80lb setup was a graftech rod and a Penn fathom 60

It's been a popular spot this year. Lots of biting fish! Yep, the boats put them in an icy fish hold until you get back to shore.
Great video but you need to figure out the wind noise. It makes it hard to watch. Try a lav mic with a windscreen
