That was a really good video of your trip. I like to take my wife fishing at the Coronados too. Maybe will see you there sometime. Awesome yellow tail catch too!
Trying to talk my buddy into going down there. Is there anything you need, specifically license wise to be legal? Do you need Mexican fishing permits? Thanks and awesome video.
I highly recommend you check out the Sportfishing Association of California website. It has all the details step by step of everything you need. To fish the islands you need a passport, Mexican boat permit, biosphere bracelet, Mex fishing license and an FMM. All explained on the website.
@@SDKook thank you. I’ll check it out. I called Fisherman’s landing the other day and they rattled off a bunch of things. Doesn’t sound very convenient to just run down there for the day.
@@SDKook I know it's very common.....so what I wanna know is did you try that salmon grouper?? I've read awful things about them but have never talked to someone about it.....
I've eaten them several times in the past. It's really not bad. The meat is a bit mushier and slightly off color so I think it turns people off. But it's fine for fish tacos! Wouldn't use it for ceviche.
A great fishing day made better with your wife on board. I loved fishing with my wife but she won’t go anymore. She was never R😢a water person but would go when we were younger. I however am a life long surfer, sailor and fishermen,
Couple of things. First I highly suggest going to the southern California Sportfishing association website. They have a step by step guide to all of this. Some of the info is semi out of date but mainly because mexico changes the website and requirements frequently. That said a few things you need: 1. Mex boat registration. Lasts for 10 years and costs like 100 bucks. The registration will be sent back to you and you need to make copies and keep on you boat at all times. 2. Register you manifest and pay for the FMM immigration form. About $35 bucks per person. Only needed if you are fishing near shore or the islands. I believe 12 miles from shore. 3. Mexican fishing license. Another $60per year. 4. Fishing the islands you also need to have the biosphere bracelet. You can purchase a year pass for $100 or just buy a single day for like 8 bucks at any of the big landings in point Loma. Lots of info with little details. Check out the website.
This one was a Penn Senator 4/0 on an old ugly stick tiger rod 30 to 60lb. For lighter inshore this is my go-to or if I'm pulling a small tuna feather. For the big stuff I just picked up a couple Penn Internationals
A Mexican fishing license, a biosphere bracelet, a FMM with manifest and your boat needs to be registered in Mexico.Checkol out the California Association of Sportfishing page it has all info on how to do it. www.californiasportfishing.org

@bryan34wable it's not convenient but it's worth it! The islands are beautiful. Once you figure out how to do it the first time it gets easier.

Sheephead sheephead sheephead! Sheepshead are on the east coast......nice yellowtail
